Sandman

as i lay down and my eyes do not tire

my body does not rest, for my mind test my emotions as it thinks prolifically

for the sandman does not vist me when it’s time for slumber even though i wait with open arms

the tantalizing hope that prescriptions give as my eyes feel heavy then i hear my alarm beep and the birds chirp

the wretched sounds of another sleepless night
