Massive, monumental, mammoth, mighty, and marvelous
Has my magnificence been devoid of arduousness?
With an unknown collision of plates, as though two hearts
With folding, faulting, and fondling, nature creates my parts.
There's in me, life-like evolution and involution.
Volcanoes and earthquakes bring me inner persecution.
I try to grow tall with my steep, sharp, sloping, sliding sides.
Within my compassionate folds, any scared creature hides.
With snow capped peaks, valley glaciers, and river gorges
I've flora and fauna that are gorgeously glorious.
Caring cliffs call the creatures to the peaks to touch the sky.
Fountains, streams, and rivers from me towards the sea flow by.
Amidst strong stone shifting, rock rifting, and boulder bouncing
Amidst storms, rains, avalanches, landslides, and floods, astounding
I exist, as the plains and seas, a part of the cosmos.
When and how I'll rise or fall, the Almighty alone knows.

The sun sets leaping in fierce golden shafts
As days shift shorter with Winter’s warning
We seek emblazoned fires from the chilled drafts
That glaze windows from iced winds each morning
As twilight falls stale dead leaves swirl rifting
Barbed smells of Pine and Tannin Oak scent streams
From forest floor fumes in brisk air hinting
Drab pumpkin, peach and tawny spiced Fall dreams
Sit quietly, watch dusk’s seasonal show
November’s clouds spangled in etched fire stun
When a portrait clad in sheathed splendor flows
A palette of Fall woods under brazed sun
That bring us grand tidings of this season
Where peace reigns and war has little reason

STONE
I spent my youth presenting as stone,
sure that protection from the violent vicissitudes
of the human condition lay in a geologic journey,
the only real threat the unlikely complications of
continental drift
Hence, I hadn’t allowed for magmatic rifting and
related events that easily turn stone into liquid
and fire, let you harden and rise, gracefully aging
in the capricious company of tectonic gymnastics
the unpredictable processes of water and ice,
of sunshine, warmth, the generation of life
She is seventy-two now with soft tummy fat, and
generous inclinations; I paint her toes when
she asks and offer when she doesn’t
Like the Adirondacks of New York, the circular
appendage to the Canadian Shield, I was a great
granite dome but the gradual journey to a softer,
worn condition, recklessly alive with intelligent life,
has been a beautiful thing – gray hair, great smiles,
sunlight and stone, the gentle topography of the
landscape of “we”!

Agonized by gloomy sky in rainbow archway you’ll find me
Blown by desert wind, in mirage with despondent you I’ll be
Ambling alone in beach you’ll see me in golden sand’s glow
Network of my pearly lattice the waves will make to show
Drifting in the river of despair, the anchorage out of view
On murmuring ripples you’ll hear my heart’s music anew
Never in these dire states of your life I’ll ever abandon you.

As your anxiety becomes alarming.
You enter a place that is charming.
As you guard your doom-
There is hope of joy to consume.
If you speak your innocence.
Your self-hatred will no longer make sense.
In this world- you are always shifting.
So that the two islands- past and present- are no longer rifting.
Your secrets will be shared and never be restored.
Which creates an embrace so joyful, that your tranquility will soar!

Drifting off to sleep
Resting the body and mind
Eyes closed, dreaming deep
After dark, our thoughts unwind
Maybe we're all conscious blind

E-ndless love for each other
D-oes work wonderful things;
U-nder God's guidance they endure
A-ll forms of trials that life brings.
R-eal or true love remains
D-espite distress and sorrow;
O-vercoming all kinds of trouble, they hope for a brighter tomorrow.
A-gainst all odds they stay steadfast,
N-o matter what happens;
D-rifting in the stormy weather, they brave the strong winds.
L-iving together in a lifetime,

N-ow is the moment to greet them,
N-uptial anniversary may be happy!

a fourstitch (quatrain), chain-rhymed
in response to global warming and climate change
Environmental agendas of the left
see such solutions left far behind
in the demonstrations of today.
The political climate is shifting.
“Peaceful” protests have left us bereft.
they are scarcely more than a blind
for annihilation’s holiday.
There are few signs of the smoke lifting.
Violence, fires, murder and theft
are the accepted answer we find
in angry, youthful, political naïveté.
Our moral climate in a fog is drifting.
2020 discovers our nation cleft
by childish fabrications designed
as name-calling, verbal horseplay.
The backwash creates wide rifting.
Eco-friendly debate was never adept
in the chaos of our fiscal disarray -
an appeasement for activists’ protégé,
and more stimulus? mere spendthrifting.

Late summer storm fells the defoliated tree
Over the hill slope it rolls on to the stream
No branch survives the rough downslide free
Entering the stream like a dead log it swims.
Lying on the lap of stream flowing down the valley
It starts its long journey on the cascading waterway
Far from lost home it rolls, the bends it doesn't see
Ensemble of boulder and mud holds it at bank bay.
Later when flash flood erodes the embankment
In strong surge the log starts the journey again
Keeps pace with wild rush of the water current
Even if the final destination it can't ever ascertain.
Drag of the rough times uproots my forlorn life
Enshrouded by despair I turn into a dead wood
Afloat on the turbulent flow of the ordained strife
Drift unattached to unknown destination I should.
With a free mind I float on the time's eternal flow
On the move I don’t remember where I used to be
Only the soul knows my home where I shall go
Drifting like wood my memory has no memory.

You got me in rifting feel twists
of bits not yet on my heart’s list.
You got me with your careless ways
that my ways had not come across.
Yes, you laid our mess in pain’s toss.
Now I know my body swelled grips
wanting your sexy, sculptured lips;
your maleness was my need display,
your long, dark hair, my dared fondle,
your brown eyes, my eyes' prized coddle -
and, your movements flared my sway.
You got me in rifting feel twists
that sent me thru heart mirrored mists.
We dragged love mute thru wasted days
until stays were just trace loss
and no feeling words held hope-gloss.
Yes, you got me stuck where lost lays.
Now, I need remedies best tips
to strengthen my spirit’s raw strips.
Yes, I am lost in numbing rays
where my hope tilts on my wobble.
My honest thoughts steer full topple
and tend my breaks in tentative ways.
You got me with false act insists
and kissed me blind in dizzy frays
that my love-laced dreams failed to resist.

In the depths of the night I swear I saw your halo
Drifting above, when my thoughts were calm
Ornate but simple like the humble daisy
Lovely and stunning from flower to bulb
Oh how I dreamt that you could be mine
Vision of beauty as the belle of the ball
Enchanting the evening as we waltz to and fro
You had my heart and I knew it was luv
O my beloved, my truth, my valentine
Until death do we part, to you, my love, I bid

And now the trickles ripple rifting
through the hues of the sky—confetti!
The words of my mouth are paintings;
a projected splash all over—frantics!
Whether they drag down God's face
blaze out streamlights—candlelights
pin a billion sunrises into a stiffened day.
How over-good—worthless crystallites?
When they fall on mangrove skies;
borrowed zephyrs compress—upsize;
explode into sands of mustard seeds—ripe!
Germinate tons of thorns—stars—torn
prickles—squeals—resounds—muted cries;
the act of the hands, when they try and try
to seal the width and pit of the mouth—'unrise'
head's cap size—safeguard the crown—discrown.
How over-good—worthless crystallites?
The River births—your River mouth—'silverlites'
the tributaries—tributes—waterfalls —silver bird—
the screeching lines—over-stretched verse;
voice box machines—the echoes—out loud;
on the stainless-steel wall—a still pass
into dwindling star flaps—eyes lashed
How over good, all these worthless crystallites?
