The sad foliage of farewell each year
makes Summer's glory fade away too soon-
and letting go acknowledges the fear
of losing those young verdant leaves of June.
So blessed are Summer scenes that last full term-
complete their fullness by the start of Fall.
But often nature fails to reconfirm
next season's entry includes one and all.
And yes, dear Mom, your Summer went too fast,
without a chance to complete Autumn's scene.
At fifty-five, that Summer was your last;
you left us on September-day fifteen.
I live each season with the thought of you
beneath the leaves of Fall and Winter snow.
But come September, realize it's true;
you rest in peace of your last Summer's glow.
Africa is not poor,
Do you know why?
There are lot of minerals that are,
Form within Africa.
Just that Africa problem is Africans.
Oh Africa!
You're wealthy with vast minerals.
You're not poor, but the scrambled,
For you had led you to your downfall,
You're in the midst of minerals, but fighting,
To touch it garments.
Oh Africa!
It's a simple statement, repeated through,
A thousand images, newspaper & charity,
Appeals each year, so it takes on the,
Weight of truth.
When we read it, we reinforce assumptions,
And stories about you that we have heard,
Throughout our lives then,
We reconfirm our image of you.
Go America, Canada, or other white countries,
You'll notice that their wealths are seen as,
A give and pay, but in Africa,
Everything we own, we buy them with our,
Finances.
Although the African continent is,
Blessed with oil, diamond, gold etc, but,
Some African countries are numbered for,
Being the poorest in the world.
Oh Africa, why?
She has been looted.

Ideas are immortal entities
bound to appear to the minds of people
of
different ages for to reconfirm their being
so as never to be forgotten!

22 APRIL 2020
there is a tear in the middle of the floor
we do not know who it once belonged to
we are amazed at how stubborn it actually is
perhaps it acted as a symbol of inspiration for us to sit down and talk it all out
there is a tear in the middle of the floor
we do not know what language it speaks
we are in awe of how it has been able to keep its shape
perhaps it acted as a reminder of what we could of lost had we not truly communicated
there is a tear in the middle of the floor
we do not know if its little heart still beats
we are taken aback at the fact that it looks like it is actually smiling
perhaps it acted as a divine mediator for us....lead by a Higher Power
there is laughter at the corner of earth avenue and real world way
we have nursed each other's scars as a portion of many unified peace offerings
we are enjoying immensely this blessed chapter of realization and understanding
perhaps in the heart of God's Time, we just had to slow everything down and just regroup, reveal, refocus, review, reestablish, reaffirm, and reconfirm....
To a father there may
Not be a greater joy than
A child who emulates
Maybe even idolizes his dad.
With a heart pouring over
With love my youngest boy
Proudly states, “I have written a poem.”
My heart soars and love overflows …
His next words reconfirm what
I suspected; he wants to be like dad
He asked me to post it on Poetry Soup.
The next lines are his as I beam …
Kind, nice, Outgoing, and Funny this is
How I live in this strange World. I live
With a funny family always cheering
me on I go to a big school always
being great I have many friends
Always being Awesome intelligent
People, I go to a nice church
always being kind I really
like my life in this very strange
world.
I couldn’t have said it better
Little man.
A collaboration of Dad (60) and
David (10) Eklund
My lines of pain
and you don't even care
how can you just cut me off
It's a cry for help
but I guess it's something
that needs to go unsaid
I say it outloud
to reconfirm my fears
but now they're even worse
I want those marks
to make myself go back
for what it's worth
