Raison D Etre

Raison d'être
By Michelle Morris,
15/12/2020

There is no need for you to fit in; just be your best self and live your life as you will...

Those who care, will understand, and be there always to hold your hand...

For we are all blessed with a reason for being; our unique raison d'être that guides our seasons...

And as we flow at one with source, we become a magnificent spark in the universe...

And lo and behold, as time goes by, we grow into our wings and learn to fly...

Raison D'Etre

Death's voice deranges my mind.
It feels as if the clock above my head has begun to unwind.
A decade and beyond,
But only now am I beginning to feel alarmed.
If only I had a magic wand.
14, 15, to where have my stolen memories disappeared?
Thursday, Friday-Monday, Tuesday...
Did Saturday and Sunday run away?
Oh please, in my dreams allow me to stay,
Times' endless cycle has made me weary.
Dear lord, haven't you heard me pray?
Atleast set a bounty, any price I will pay.
From dawn to when the moon is reborn, I've never witnessed twilights' haze.
For all that I crave is a single interlude-
To be free from times' curse.
For every time I open my eyes, the ticking will only invigorate.
Perhaps for an hour, a minute even, if time didn't wane...
Then maybe, just maybe... Would I be able to rest at ease.
Free from the burdens labeled as responsibilities... Only then,
Can I simply exist in a serene state of seclusion.
Alone on this horizon, where I was born.
Left with a vision; the glorious sight of a conclusion.
Now I will have found my reason.

With that newfound clarity...
I shall live in harmony with the ticking that once daunted me.

What purpose Poetry,
if not to transcend

The mundane, the broken,
those roads with no end

With every feeling
new words are reborn

To speak to Creation
—and live readorned

Raison D'Etre

Why would I question,
why would I care

Why would I venture,
why would I dare

Why would I set out
for places unknown

If not to find something
—my life has unshown

Some days you pen so lovely
  Though few comments you get
    And even some ugly

Then there are days
When you crank out the rot
But comments pour in -- a lot

Yet the best days are reserved for procrastination
What else is summer for? ~ To heck with aggravation

Note: About that title -- You think I understand French?!...

Dimension,
Stretching itself
Reaching the unknown
Feeling what can’t be felt
Unnumbered
Not counted or named
Para-atomic
Time abandoned
Intention free
Returning without
Returning within,

As we approach our golden years, nothing prepares us for what lies ahead. Everyone reaches it... it's inevitable but that doesn't mean we are really prepared! After a lifetime of happiness and struggles, nothing prepares us for suddenly feeling abandoned, not having purpose, a raison d'étre!

Unless we can replace our active life with some activity that keeps us looking forward to getting out of bed every morning. Without that activity to inspire us, we can sometimes sink into a deep depression.

I have always been one of the lucky ones... always able to approach the future searching for something new and interesting to feed my ever hungry brain! Mostly creative in nature which was surely not what I envisioned right out of high school.

In an era of the post-war world, insecurity was foremost in my psyche. However, inspired by a classmate, I reluctantly ventured into the world of advertising and I have never regretted it to this day.

Life is unequaled in the joy and happiness it provides in spite of all the heartaches and struggles! Bottom line, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!!! It was and still is my raison d'étre!

Villanelle: Do States the raison d’Etat circumvent

Do States the raison d’Etat* circumvent
The collective will Has it a single soul
Should not the force publique* State crimes prevent

Who but a few stand for the State’s content
The armed forces stifle in strait camisole*
Do States the raison d’Etat circumvent

Yet the elected crew behave innocent
The people’s will blocked by the party’s role
Should not the force publique State crimes prevent

The democratic way Does it not relent
Let parties alternate with no eye on goal
Do States the raison d’Etat circumvent

Entrenched forces damn all as of no moment
In the name of the People abuse their role
Should not the force publique State crimes prevent

Lives lie blunt forlorn twisted stymied rent
By mud-caked oath-swearing secret ritual
Do States the raison d’Etat circumvent
Should not the force publique State crimes prevent

•	raison d’Etat: reason of State
•	force publique: the Police
•	camisole de force: strait jacket

Raison D'Etre

Why undertake to write another verse,
When Undertaker Time and his black hearse
Will bear your poems to their final resting place
Interred without a stone, in some small weed-thick space?

Because—regardless of the tolling knell,
As long as there are whispered tales to tell
Brave poetry can help deter brute Time
A moment more until he tolls his final chime.

Raison D'Etre --- Reason To Be

Just

laying

in his arms

always heals me

when I realize his touch gives me rest.

His touch is so refreshing that I am

resorted to

a wilting

happy

mess!

Poor Fish and Raison Pie

Poor Fish and raison pie came my way one day.
Sometimes my poor fish don`t go away
so quickly as eye try to make them
slide into my belly to fill my hungry want.
I found an ice cream melted raison pie.
I could NOT eat it all.
Sometimes I have so many blessings,
I wonder iff there is any left in Heaven.
Poor Shrim:Pe and fish and old potatoes.
Some Jalepnoes and then some more peppers.
Popcorn for later, to make me feel much better.
There is always room for more.
I could NOT eat it all.
I left some raison pie unfinished.
There will always be some more poor fish
and raison pie.

Raison D'Etre

hours go by in determined acts,
days go by in unstructured situations,
months are logged as projects get over,
years measure stages of life,
time is an irreversible fact,
once gone its never added on,
do we have a quotient,
by which we could evaluate,
that hours,days,months and years
that went past,
did go past with an object,
or we were jelly beans all along,
doing what came as near the object,
and never waiting to correct difference,
fulfillment is elusive and subjective,
yet it accrues somewhere down inside,
it constantly correlates to our,
intellect and prowess of all other kinds,
and they say a life unfulfilled,
did it have a raison d'etre.
