Magenta buds wait their turn on birch trees stately
while cedars' spines soar skyward so straightly
Barren branches of oaks sans customary green
yet shiver while down low tulips blossom and preen
Spring shows off her wares at varying stages
a coloring book for adults of all ages

Flesh to bone, lets solly our love
And clad our apples in green leaves.
The river that brought us together
The milk of our breasts, yet flourishing
Shall not dry up in brimming season-
The snail wet the ground along its path,
Yet no sand follows it to its shell-
Our love shall be drunk with revelries
But our virginity shall bear no umbilical cord-
For the night preens before standing mirror
The synthesizing owls mewl their spree
And the chirping crickets tie together their wings-
So why should we not solly round bonfire
And tincture our love with ecstasy…

I don’t like to crow, but I’m an expert at giving my enemies the I-could-not-care-less-about-you strut.
I’ll let you in on a bit of a secret. Watch out when I stick my nose in the air, and push out my big gut.
On a good day, I have been known to preen in front of seventeen amazed women, in front of your very hut.
So stand back, young woman, as I spread out my glorious feathers of turquoise, blue, and green, keep your coop shut.
I know you are looking at me weirdly, wondering whether or not I’m some kind of amazingly good-looking nut.
I’m telling you darling, run for the hills, and find another – there are some at least half as fine, with no scuttlebutt.
I am a danger to you, little peahen, so you’d best stay away, run while you’re at it; follow your gut!

His talk is so inscrutable,
as he preens before the press
in a pagoda pique
Notice the sneer beneath the smile,
taste the bitter words candy coated sweet
Kim Jong
is so nuclear wrong, he says
Only a pre-emptive first strike
will make this Asian problem turn out right
But, shouldn’t diplomacy first be given a try,
to avoid millions of innocents who would die?
Not so, not so ...
my annihilatical words need to be a darker shade of mean,
tweets he with the pagoda preen
What’s the point in having nuclear weapons,
if you can’t make the red button turn green
But, shouldn’t tete-a-tete be the first try,
so our children won’t hear radioactive screams
of another Hiroshima mushroom cry?
It shall be something never seen before, he says
A whole country obliterated,
nuclear graveyard ... Korean peninsula of the dead
But, shouldn’t diplomacy be the first try,
so our conscience won’t hear radioactive screams
of another Nagasaki mushroom cry?

With Beauty Greater Than A Peacock's Preen
Of all the great new dawns, Spring gifts the best
With sunbeams racing to glisten new green.
In all of Nature, she survives each test
With beauty greater than a peacock's preen.
Thy teeming wildlife, most welcomed minions
O' friend, thy gifts sing in so many ways.
With sweet Hope and Truth thy bold companions
From day's promise to final ending rays.
When new grass sings its highest gracing songs
Thy miracle, telling this world to bow.
Thy birth, taught all that all truly belongs
To the whole, future promise and the now.
Of all the great new dawns, Spring takes the cake.
Why not celebrate each, for goodness sake?

PRIMP and PREEN
Passersby’s halt, they fear to walk by, to fall to this feline
in her prime. No moggie is she who’s primped and preened
in contemplation she flaunts her flair. Motionless as art, her
body’s dreadful covered in copious layers of azure fur.
This she cat finds each passerby a meal, a most delectable prey.
Primped and preened, her snaking tail waving rhythmic.
Her trunk’s molded like a rounded goblet full of wine.
Her paws arrest, slender, like a maiden's finger fine.
Her chest full and firm, she posed with influential height.
Her translucent tabby orbs shutter, then focus to gaze
reflecting a light, shadowed by a panacea of unfolding lies;
twin spheres speak, solid, content in serenity and pride.
There's a bombshell shining in this cat's eyes.

God created both morning and night
but some folks desecrate
and do not appreciate
the mortals He molded, black or white
in His image, equal in His sight.
This creator made darkness and light,
skies decked with stars and Moon,
the Sun that reigns at noon;
all these glowing daily in our sight,
why do racists preen in flagrant flight?
You were helpless when your skin was made,
or was it your own choice?
why flaunt now with your voice
a cauliflower that will someday fade,
as seasons soar and ages cascade.
