Photographs hanging on a clothesline
Some in color, some black and white
My picture is pinned right up with theirs
In the sky filled with cumulus clouds

What shades of colours do we paint
while walking on this earth?
Do we leave behind a masterpiece?
or a squiggle with no worth?

Will the colours that we choose
look vibrant, - do they shout?
Or are they like dull grey lead lines
so easily rubbed out.

Are all the brush strokes that you paint
precise, done with finesse?
Or are they like thick

Pictures On My Walls

Pictures plastered on my offwhite walls.
Some coloured, some drawn, some art.
Some represent where I walked in halls.
Some represent deepest parts of my heart.

Big Pictures

There are people with whom
One might disagree at certain levels.
The dividing levels might even be ones
Of insensitivity, discouragement,
And even hurtfulness.

Notwithstanding such disagreements,
One might yet endorse and support
Such a one on other, more vital levels.

In so doing, one should see it, not as
a conflict of interest, but rather as
a higher view of the big picture.

We love our pretty calendars holding our favorite pictures. 
Many pictures of cute animals,
some of majestic land or sea views. 
Each month changes with new pictures to enjoy. 
We circle the dates we need to remember,
never wanting to forget our appointments or events.

Everywhere I turn,
a new memory visits—
a simple hair tie
sitting beside the hair clip
in the medicine cabinet.
A Bright Eyes t-shirt still lays at the bottom of the laundry basket.

Pictures of Ancestral Images

No colder winter's evening reawakens, in an abrupt
glance, this memory from others already faded
in the inattentive recollection of a son's mind;
even insignificant moments are worthy of thought.

A pubescent boy unlearned and precarious at giving advice,
but ready to provide that tenderness in exploding emotions...
realizing that he would reach the same level of consciousness:

Pictures on my walls,
I make them feel so alive.
They don't laugh, they don't cry.
I don't smile, I don't frown.
My frames have no picture,
I'm wanted by no one.
My pictures tell stories 
I stare back so boredly
They are just,  pictures on my walls
they've lived more than I have.

I often take a shameless selfie
Of myself dining or travelling gleefully
And post it on my Facebook
Or Instagram page immediately 
Some people say it's quite conceited 
To paste your mug so much
Of displaying your contentment 
When in reality your life may be otherwise
So easy on your selfies
It's really not all self-toot
Just a way of keeping in

Faded Photographs

Sometimes the only solace to loneliness
is the fading photographs around me...
many pictures in black and white, some of them
are in albums, some on the wall - in ornate
frames, which I would never replace!
The oxidized metal carries the aroma of the past, 
Pictures speak to us, aloneness dissipates!

A reminder of joy from another day. 
Though colors fade, the memories remain,

Smilling by flowers, nothing to get in her way
On seeing the picture I just couldn't hate
