Far from the homeland, when lips part to speak,
This Persian candy works wonders, magic unique.
The spell of Rumi’s verse, of Hafez’ deep art,
In distant lands, it uplifts every heart.
A potion of love rides this caravan’s crest—
Saadi himself boasts of its charm manifest.
Open your eyes, and at this threshold stay—
The Masnavi begins to tell your tale today.
Yes, the key to the treasure of bliss is our tongue—
Rumi unlocks his vault where legends are sung.
The world is our homeland, in this unmatched place—
Our Persian speech bestows us with grace.
Persian Haiku 2
What a gorgeous view!
You and the flower garden,
I'm the butterfly.
Your eyes, the ocean;
The ocean colors your eyes.
Your hair is the wave.
Moon on the ocean,
Your face is the reflection.
Always be alone.
I live with my heart,
All flowers are beautiful,
I love daffodils.
What a discussion,
I had with all my flowers.
Their breath smells nice.

Pretty Persian kitty, wearing an ivory coat,
Big blue eyes for mischief and soft as silk,
She prances and dances when I get home,
And my gift to her is a warm glass of milk.
Pretty Persian kitty, with tiny ears of pink,
A matching button nose to sniff trouble,
On Tuesday morning is a bath in the sink,
And every single time she blows bubbles.
Pretty Persian kitty, with barren paws,
Slanted outward like a silly platypus,
Neatly I keep up with her itty-bitty claws,
But she always makes the biggest fuss.
Pretty Persian kitty, coughing a fur ball,
Playing with her “chase the mouse” toy,
She climbs up the scratching post and falls,
But I really think it’s just an inside ploy!
Yup, that’s right! Crystal is all mine to adore,
As I watch her swiftly roll around on the floor.

Persian Sonnet: Candle and the Sun
Persian Sonnet: Candle and the Sun
I heard a candle talking to the sun,
asking him why he must be so bright.
How fun it is to look at you tonight!
When the day is gone, the moon is the one.
Shadows are breaking, yet figures may run,
I shall be lighting all lovers all night.
Making sweet illusion of night, delight,
and close their day when lover’s night is done.
How beautiful is it when you’re gone?
I’ll be the reason for lovers to be,
Then we live until the very break of dawn,
and they see only what their heart will see.
How magnificent is it to live on?
Although it’s just a night, it’s life for me.

Persian Haiku (Segani)
My wing altered with age.
The wing that is broken.
My body is the cage.
You cannot find God?
The world is empty of him!
Maybe you are abroad.
I’m covered with dirt.
From this dirt, I am alert.
Alert makes me hurt.
I’m talking to you.
My eyes are kissing you.
The fishes are watching.
How do you know that?
The tree is not my lover!
Spring will discover.
How childish is love?
When you stole my heart again,
How can I complain?
How sad is my tree?
In the middle of a prison;
Even though it’s free.
Tell me I love you.
Is that so complicated?
My colors are faded.

How i long to taste the salt of your skin
pooled in the garden valleys of your body
I await the early morning hours
for you to come as the hummingbird of love.
There I will gaze upon the Persian horses
galloping in the sunlit reflection of your long dark hair
Many nights I have dreamed and craved
Your beautiful lips the enemy of my winter.
Beneath damp sheets lie the magic of velvet fingertips
The blood of your veins remains between my teeth
You the wonderful garden of my torture
You the world wrapped around me....
