The 60s brought changes to hair
Today, they would make people stare
Bouffant look was in
Made puffy from thin
And teasing- it was the big flare.
I was one of those who partook
In those days, it was the best look
But when it was done
I still had some fun
In styling it by my own book.
These days, I still tease it a bit
Shaped smoothly, it will nicely sit
And hold fine all day
A touch of hairspray
I'm good to go, well-groomed and fit!

“Memories come forth to say...
we are with you to stay.”
__by Poet
This was the passageway she took
beneath the limbs of maple trees;
to this day still, I turn and look
and feel her joy to help and please.
I watched her walk across the grass;
this was the passageway she took.
With all the love she could amass
she'd come out from the shaded nook.
For from her home to mine partook
to visit for a while and stay.
This was the passageway she took;
still see her there as branches sway.
Yes, there she was, my mother dear;
I miss those visits- long-forsook.
Above, she keeps my vision clear;
this was the passageway she took.

Quest be, will we exist ... 'tis hit or miss
be of a lifetime. I gave no degree
of my retractions that constants amiss
my seeing yon desk an intimacy
be measured as the worth of passages.
A ponderous virtue partook a smile
that placed atop lap held, arched assuages,
instantly noted, that after a while,
what had parted yon me cannot have gone
unnoticed, mainly, in closeness to me.
I barely moved; could one part day from dawn.
A book was returned, oh my, could it be?
Not lap or arched back, he stares at the floor,
torn mind as a book sits unfound once more.

The poet chuckled and the walls laughed
back!
They were her friends, after all, with nary
a crack.
The walls watched her pen, her bleeding
heart out.
Their wall souls, were her earth angels,
clearly no doubt.
They were there for her, always at dawn
and at night.
In howling winds and storms, they kept
her warm and from fright.
Delightful companions for all gastromomic
events were they.
Well-mannered, they partook as she dined,
fine manners, had they!
They worried, too, watching her walk with her
rollator.
They much preferred that, than seeing her be
a couch potato!
When the stars came out, she’d blow a loving
kiss to them.
Her stalwart friends,in the blue moonlight of
her whispered, Amen!

At my leisure I strolled through post-college life
worked smart by day, partook of pleasure at night
One morning woke up on the back side of the hill
my dreams unattainable, attenuated my will
Never tested my mettle, never once even dared
stretch my arms out to Him, make my life over with prayer

It might have been a zephyr only
Of an angry mood the feeblest aired.
But for what's storm-raised as a mind flash
To be shook by must you be prepared.
Merest of mere light soaking, you say
Pitious partook, too few the tears
But brought to their rememberance above
A cloudless burst of love for you nears.

Table scraps we shared
beside the Master's Chair;
more than we had dared
to hope for in our dark and foul air,
we partook as sumptuous meat,
discarded from a Heavenly Feast,
yet food enough, a Spiritual Treat,
to delight us among the least.
We raised our palms in praise,
hands unused to prayer, and tough,
rang hallelujah all our days.
The little we had - more than enough.

What if I tell you a secret
The book picks the reader
And not the other way around
Like a friend waiting around the bend
Open pages beckoning without a sound
I’ve found myself in each book
Identifying with pages in which I partook
When did I become the characters
And the character became me?
I almost feel haunted by the voice
Of the writer and this imagination shared
Drawing me into worlds, I need to explore
Where fantasy meets dreams
Reality is so far-fetched it seems
Diving deep into a book
The sheer emotions I feel
Magnifies and withers
As I travel across each page
Ink running into corners of my mind
A fairy-tale, a fiction, a fantasy
A mystery or be it just a funny tale
I read and digest on this tireless quest
Yearning for more, till I satisfy
This unending curiosity!

I wandered along the inky night
following the thousand glowing green lights,
to find a place where waves roar
shining under the robe lady Moon wore.
The calming salty hair hits my face,
while the waves danced with outermost grace.
Twinkling lights darted across the sky,
far away in the cosmos where they fly
The rusted wooden bridge just shook,
Weakening in the fight it partook
against the ocean’s angered mind.
The boats cheering on from behind
And on this peaceful gloomy age,
my hands finally make rhyme upon this page.

In the midst of the Garden
was the Tree of Knowledge
of Good
and Evil
and the fruit thereof
was beauteous ---
but it meant
Death it
to all of
who partook

As members of one single clan
Once we sat around a common table
Partook of tasty homemade fares
And laughed together over many a fable
Unity then ruled like a choirmaster
Symphony of tunes rang from every nook
With no dissonance to mar the melody,
Gaily flowed life with the music of a brook
Air was filled with the fragrance of love
In every need was a helping hand
Contented with simple things,
Men lived in amity like a single band
As years slipped by in great haste
The inventory of needs grew longer
Cast our magnanimity asunder
And bonding cords grew shorter
Now we see humanity in fractions
Fences, built in the name of caste and sect
Violence shows its ugly head
Blood is spilled and peace is lost
Now is high time to retrace our steps
To come back to the former blissful state
When love won and brotherhood reigned
Thus an earthly paradise to reinstate!

A pulchritudinous and profound grace
Finds my pen to verse an ace
Such a resplendence oozing out
Methinks so divine and - no doubt
An orthodox and stupendous beauty
Just inspired my awe during duty
As We partook in a common ritual
Amidst all holy hymns spiritual
Checking the spouses mutual
On march to crack the secret real
Divine and debonair –Her charm
A perfect diva with heart warm
Indian-ness and transparency
Through Her enamouring drapery
Inspired me to find the secret
Let me unravel just straight
Of true love, passion devotional
Abiding by the traditions real
Words find limit to extol Her
As She surmounted together
With Her hubby so simple
And Her twin terrific dimple
A tree woman full of fruits
An angelic entity with roots
Deeply in precious piety
Immersed in holy gaiety
Methinks We share a strong bond
In all births so profound
What a super woman delectable!
With royal splendor so adorable..!!
Surely She is the Presiding Deity
Of Victory, Glory and Piety..!!

while you were still here,
I
ruminated silently,
pretending I didn't much
care,
was neither Here nor there,
and so, Your love was a ripe hanging fruit,
beautiful and free,
but i never fully partook--
I kept it under wraps,
except for a few stolen kisses
now and again,
There: here-- just a will'o the Wisp
Half-desire
floating sideways in my head.
An enchanting quirk was the thought of Love,
incongruous to my ingrained thoughts, my "common sense",
beckoning me to greener pastures --to a "real" life
that seemed too out of reach to even imagine my arrival in it,
for you were my little dewdrop,
beautiful but vulnerable;
and as I turned, I saw you
gobbled up by
the wind-- by a
breeze that disappeared
as fast as it appeared.
Your richness was lost on me-
until you were gone.

Last night I woke up in the most beautiful place,
All the cares of the world didn't exist at all;
Folk loved each other, no such thing as race.
Joy and happiness was present on each face,
Because everyone answered to love’s call;
Last night I woke up in the most beautiful place.
Darkness, hate, and evil vanished without a trace,
Unity finally reigned; we stood proud and tall;
Folk loved each other, no such thing as race.
We partook of God’s love and amazing grace,
Our hearts were linked we were ready to play ball;
Last night I woke up in the most beautiful place.
Love, peace, joy took root in that time and space,
Prejudices couldn't break through love’s wall.
Folk loved each other, no such thing as race,
Last night I woke up in the most beautiful place.

Alluring dainty gerberas, a floral gift
Gorgeous in crimson, pearl white and lemony hue.
Long lasting, befitting gift to a lovely lass
Cut fresh from my fragrant old garden where they grew.
Light shown bright in the blue eyes of the receiver,
As she got the first sight of the comely hued bunch,
She smiled knowing full well her appreciation,
Without hesitation she agreed to our lunch.
Leisurely we partook of our refreshing cheer.
Till afterwards we walked towards our lover's road
Hand in hand, in heartfelt love feelings we strolled,
Our first meeting enthralled us as later life showed.
