an overcast Kansas day
the kind that gives you a sunburn
without any sun
the clouds are dark grayish blue
thick sluggish unmoving
I stare into them seeking my Archangel Michael

I like rain, not angry rain with an attitude
neglected by the mother cloud and take revenge
for its misbegotten infancy 
lashing those who sought peace and the promise
of forever, with ice blasts  
soft rain that feels like a caress, a day in June 
Drips from my blue umbrella feel like kisses from
a long-time lover

entity, inhabitant
activity ambivalent
bone-chilling

brilliance of sun 
stark shining dreams
embodiment of
exuberance

when another day begins
with cold, grey, overcast skies
foreboding shivers the mind...
uncertainty looms

clouds may mirror my musings
but, nevertheless, I scan
the sky searching for golden
streaks and blue demesnes

Winter's Rain

The first winter’s rain
Brings in the chill in the air
The sun hides behind the overcast sky
Playing hide and seek with the grey clouds
A gust of wind whooshes through the trees
The cold weather is set to begin
I wrap myself in a blanket in bed
Reading a novel with a mug of coffee in hand
Untimely rain brings us

Overcast Morning with The Birds

Milky bright sky with rain in her net
Morning performance with native duet
Whip cracks and choo-choos crescendo in song
Spurring near aves to jolly along
The flightless young to pipe up and squawk
Easy like eagle or hoarse as the hawk!
Where cockatoos chase each other and chatter
Raindrops descend, and pitter-patter.

As I wake up in a cold sweat from a night terror I cannot forget my mind unravels.
Anger has become an emotion I invest in with no interest accrued.
My torment is in knowing as the days grow longer my tolerance is becoming shorter.
I am programmed to obey my chemical imbalance if only to believe I

gloomy horizons

A mother overhead,
bearing down
with beacon eyes -
my feet
on her beat.

The park -
overcast.

Hear the beat
of robin feet
on the muddy lawn.

Stranger in park -
no bark of dog
nor scampering squirrel.

Flood
like a murky lake -
the sodden path
is alive 

with my steady
sneakered tromp
   and the allocation 
of worms.

In pronouncements of
gray and silver the leaden voice
call us all to
the contrition prayer showing that
the tenderness of the Lord
is manifested in many forms ...!

Atop a hill 
            outside a town, 
            a haven like none else 
            is found 

     

Memories Without Regrets

Buried and lowered into the ground
Mourners grieving not making a sound
The priest conducts a beautiful service
Bells ringing feeling slightly nervous

Weather is changing with a slight overcast
Life is so unfair loosing family so fast
Struggling to find ways to cope and carry on
Don’t drift apart before they have gone 

Make fabulous memories or you will be left
