Standing ovations and rounds of applause
The elephants trumpeted just because
T-rump pulled their puppet strings
As if he had Angel wings
They should've been protesting with guffaws
I chose not to watch the bigotted sap
Or hear the hypocrite spew words he'd yap
At the butt kissing event
My time was much better spent
Wondering how people believe his crap
A message in response to Trump's address
Elissa Slotkin spoke of the big mess*
and in ten minutes of time
She was utterly sublime
With "Checkmate" she dethroned Trump's king in chess
*Elissa Slotkin is the newly elected Democratic Senator who delivered the rebuttal to Trump's address to Congress

Outlandish and fantastical
I thought the dream to be
A solo artist live on stage
For all the world to see
Astounding and theatrical
The others seem to cheer
Ovations are enveloping
As I waken to "Good morning, my dear"

They say Maestro,
but standing ovations leave me cold
like leftover spaghetti too long in the fridge
then thrown out with the trash,
where all useless things end up
leaving only empty containers.
The music no longer inspires
to heights unattainable;
the magic of spotlights
no longer warms my lonely nights,
as you did once long ago
before I let ovations and spotlights
replace the essence of you.

Gathered passages breathing life;

I named her Felicity.
Don't know why
All babies look the same to me.
Yet she grew up into a lively girl,
so well accomplished.
She learned the piano all by herself.
How I delighted to hear her lento
and arpeggios. Heavenly music.
Then she took to singing her own tunes.
Oh, what a delight to my ageing soul.
Such melodies, such delicacies.
The neighbours flocked to hear her sing.
Then I decided to enter her into a contest:
The famous " America’s Got Talent".
You could not fail to admire her beautiful face,
Her slim figure, the elegant dress I bought her.
Her singing brought her great ovations.
She came second. I could not help but cry.

The old lady used to dance “back in the day”.
You are not that old said her tom cat gray.
The other cats agreed and said they would help.
She was so excited, she fed them kibble kelp.
The cats began dancing and were light on their paws.
The ravens in the belfry gave them an ovation with caws.
The old lady thought it was all for her and danced the night away.
Seven cats took a bow, and kept ovations going until the next day.

When all the noises around me are still,
I most clearly hear the voices in my head
It is then I experience the ultimate thrill.
Of melodies churning in my mind until
They find pleasure in my fingers instead,
When all the noises around me are still.
My fingers race across the keys in a trill,
Sometimes when I am asleep in my bed,
It is then I experience the ultimate thrill.
At the pianoforte, in my dreams, fulfill
The sonatas in the right key my soul bled,
When all the noises around me are still.
I hear the applause of an audience till
An encore plays over and over, I am lead
It is then I experience the ultimate thrill.
As I cannot seem to get ovations to fill
My heart and soul are insatiably fed,
It is then I experience the ultimate thrill
When all the noises around me are still.

Don't fear
My children
The light is near
Is this present but a game's kid?
Feel gratitude not for what rain falls upon thy head
But because heavens keep us reign
Think feelings
Ovations of the breathing
Reappraised havoc,
Sore living;
Let their kingdom crumble--fallen
Uprightness of the muddled
Rising in pain--contemplation's following
Yet both as One
Loving, wholesome act
Be reappraised
From the core to the skies
Benevolence, like time flies;
Relaying deeper eyes
My heart is yours
Lead my way to the loving
Heaven's encore
Truthful bestowing--
Blooming cohering--
In turning the harrowing.

Good Times in Las Vegas
It’s our favorite vacation,
Las Vegas, land of neon lights
Entertainment, standing ovations,
It’s our favorite place to go,
To see a great show
To gamble, we love those slot machines,
Trying to win some money,
That’s the grand scheme!
It’s our favorite destination,
A galore of hotels with loads
Of gourmet restaurants,
An unending choice of places to shop,
The fun just doesn’t stop,
It’s our favorite vacation,
We go every year,
For Las Vegas, we do cheer!!!

She's in love with the sound of her own voice
The pitch the tone the octave
Her one favorite topic is herself
She loves her audience captive and attentive
Their politeness is nothing short of adoration
Convinced there's no topic more worthy of the podium
She pictures herself filling the city stadium
Why else would she practice delivering monologues
She constantly craves to hear echoes of applause
Won't entertain the thought of nothing less
Imagining thunder of roaring standing ovations
She's bold she's grand she's totally delusional
Many have tried to break her but she's steady won't back down
She stands tall like a medal winning million dollar baby
She's always been daddy's girl and can do no wrong

~
Here on the night before yesterday’s dream,
twilight composers retreat
Laughing at whispers a’ flow on the stream,
happily taking a seat
Practicing meadowlark lyrics to sing,
strumming a toadstool in tune
Awaiting the light that the fireflies bring,
blinking a wink at the moon
Tulips with tambourines gather around,
spider web chandeliers glow
Shade tree sonatas, a wonderful sound,
echoing up from below
Pine cone recitals and blueberry sighs,
star dust ovations in rhyme
Choruses sung beneath velveteen skies,
harmonic three quarter time
Orchestral canopies glisten above,
melodic rainbows the view
Performing songs written solely of love,
played on this evening for you
