An exaggerated style, the zoot suit
was a statement in clothes.
Yet it fell into ill repute,
history shows.
Outlandishly flamboyant and distinct,
comedy bore the roots.
That grew in the Harlem precinct,
as culture suits.
With wide lapels and tight-pegged trousers,
they seemed ostentatious.
And denounced as rabble-rousers;
loose and spacious.
Worn by African-American youth
and poor Mexican teens.
They looked rebellious and uncouth,
more so than jeans.
Oft accessorized with a gold key chain
and a fedora hat.
Wartime sailors showed their disdain;
armed with a bat.
About racial tension; more than fashion,
L.A. riots broke out.
And boys beat without compassion,
left little doubt.

He is outstandingly out-of-bounds
asserted the outlandishly outspoken outlaw
He can outshoot, outtrump and outride you.
He is outrageously outranked, the tenderfoot replied.
But he did feel outsparkled and outvalued.
And a little bit on the outs...
The outsized outsister tried to sooth the tenderfoot
but she was an unfamiliar outsider and not totally respected
So they both ended up being outwitted and outslickered
by the outspoken outlaw who outsmarted them
The outlaw’s outlandish gang outroared their protests
Making them both feel outclassd and out-of-sorts.

The rainbow needs a new name.
What it should be I don’t know.
Its name before Babel surely a song.
Shimmering, glistening, magical thing!
Outlandishly colored, and elusive.
Common and yet somehow rare.
Momentary, yet ancient.
Its power only doubted when hidden.
In its presence we are left without words.
Brilliant men utter only oohs and aah’s.
At times we can’t help but cry
because of water vapor?
Tiny droplets suspended untethered!
Explained and still incomprehensible!
Artists paint in vain upon their canvas.
Their work trite, opaque and flat,
a ridiculous cartoon.
If pictures with their renown power fail,
how can we tell of the leaping inside?
Hint of another realm we all suspect
Like joyous recognition!
For all this we say, “rainbow.”

Peacocking
(Attracting attention)
Written: by Miracle Man
9/25/2018
Some like to spend time at the mall “peacocking”,
And dressed outlandishly believe they’re show stopping.
Intent is not usually the opposite sex to ensnare,
But getting their high from garnering others stare;
Many have no qualms about what they display,
They go all out to capture the eyes of their prey.
Appearance don’t divulge whether they’re doughty,
Nor does it reveal that their spirit is haughty. *
* Proverbs 16:18 KJV
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall”

I feel I am in this dream,
Where I experience bliss supreme.
An inner world that till today was unseen,
Things unfolding in an outlandishly beautiful scene.

SLUNGBACK
Sunlights are
shadowed today
as grey clouds
race upstairs to
meet the storms
above my irate
head
slungback
in my chair
Fanlights spin
out clammy
calamities
motorblades
rotating then
spiraling
outlandishly
above my inert
head
slungback
in my chair

A distinguish old gent picked up tricks.
On Halloween, he went for a treat.
Laughing outlandishly
He staggered up the street.
Hips swaying g-stringed a drag queen!

They called him Jumper
He preferred Prancer
When he was happy he would prance
Giant circles of joy
And the dizziness
Too many beers and staggers
For 365 days waiting times 4
He would dress himself outlandishly
Feathers and painting his face
He loved the Mamba and espresso
Dancing to the beat and the heat
But February 29th he could leap and pride
Gyrating crazily leaping from space to space
Time warp again
Disco fever
Never tiring
It only happens once every 4 years
Leap frog when he was a child
Monty Python taught him how to leap from tree to tree
He did the Lumberjack
His jeans had done the Hop on Bandstand
He had bell bottom genes
While in South America he did the Anaconda
Bunny Hop with children as he walked
Loved the song Fandango
While hunting his horse taught him the Foxtrot
Auntie Mame be proud
His favorite was Leaping
Once every 4 years
Just bored so I typed nonsense

Always been crazy, dizzy even,
for gumdrops,
hankering iced jellyrolls.
Keen longing makes nougat
outlandishly pleasing.
Quick!
Relish stimulating temptation
until vigorous willpower
Xs yummy's zaniness.
Wrote this ABC..... poem for the recent contest, but by the time I got there, the contest was gone, dang! Hope you enjoy it anyway... I sure did enjoy writing it!

Conspiracy Theorists: Get a Life
By Elton Camp
Conspiracy theories are merely illogical rot
That says most events are due to some plot
But they never explain just how or why
The conspirators are so powerful and sly
Scholars generally don’t believe such a thing
Because conclusive evidence they don’t bring
Contradictory evidence is explained away
It was planted by the conspirators they say
Outlandishly false such beliefs are seen to be
Cranks or the lunatic fringe only can them see
“But our views are being coved up,” they claim
They’ve convinced others to believe the same
As true theories, these claims don’t go very far
Actually, it is only wild speculation that they are
The mainstream report always works just as well
And these “theories,” nothing useful do they tell
How many people to the conspiracy must adhere
And a whistleblower they never seem to fear
But someone’s conscience would be in fright
And he or she would bring the conspiracy to light
If they should read this, I know what they’ll do
“Look at that. He is in on the conspiracy too.”
Conspiracy theorists are people we should avoid
They are mixed up and likely some are paranoid
