Silent Routine
I touch the lock once,
but it’s never enough,
twice feels closer,
but I touch it once more, and again.
The stove is off—off—off.
I lean in, I listen, I doubt.
My ears invent the flame,
though silent, I still hear it.
Hands raw, soap biting.
The burn means I’m safe,
but the safeness doesn’t stay,
so I scrub them again - and again.
Numbers pound inside

Ritual
Routine is like a ritual.
To break routine is like nails on a chalkboard.
Feeling as if the floor is falling out from under you.
Anxiety at its peak.
Making it hard to concentrate.
Routine is that itch to light that cigarette that’s calling your name.

Neat Freak
a neat freak is compulsive
excessive and obsessed
their day revolves around cleaning
a neat freak has a one-track mind
and will not budge their focus
their one true friend is bleach
a neat freak disinfects all day
intolerant to imperfection
time and effort never a problem
a neat freak will not rest
till every thing's in order
and every surface shines
let's not mince words

Dermatillomania
Am I a freak?
I pick my skin until I bleed
It brings me peace and comfort
Google says it’s my mental health or OCD
It goes away for weeks, but when it comes back I have to feed
My fingers just pick my skin without notice
Now my thumbs look atrocious
I’m an addict minus

i hear you
it is the biggest obstacle isn’t it?
i’m talking about out minds, it hurts when you think you’ve overcame when in months you’ve relapsed

OCD
Working on compiling and editing my latest project
even my dreams become an obsessive loop
of cutting and pasting words and images
mostly just the same few over and over
placeholder symbols for other symbols
that must have some meaning,
or at least the potential for it.
And I see how this in itself is a poem
suggestive of something intangible
yet clearly

Imperfect Perfection OCD -SHM
In pursuit of imperfect perfection,
she slowly turned every lucky star blind,
drowning in constant chores from obsession,
unable to appease her stormy mind.
Promises ascend against perception,
nothing halts fixed rituals from spinning,
as turmoils of time twirl through aggression,
she sees the devilish mantra winning.
What is left when breathing becomes a pain?
whilst malignant fears urge for

OCD Overdrive collaboration with Ink Empress
Life is not as sweet as a bowl of golden glace cherries,
nor is there a golden illuminated future for a fruitless mind.
Trembling hands and gritted teeth disguise my disorderly brain,
feeling lost in the mist,
surrounded by drowned out voices.
Deceptive chanting charms plant everyday confusion,
with stalking emotions running through my mind's corridors,
carrying a voice that

Recluse
heart of compassion, stifled by rejection
concealed with conscientious imperfections
marvel mind mortified by man made mistakes
confined in constraint, no mental escape
flunking society's supposed expectancy,
failing oneself, free-falling inwardly
sparkles in eyes subsided, light subdued
flame flickers restrained by winded worries' mood
foreboding face, faded flat with fatigue
harness of helplessness, harrowing grief

Ocd
Check under the pillow
Re-tuck the sheets
Arrange the blankets
Turn off the light
Turn it back on again
And again,
And again,
And again.
Its not that I want to repeat this mind- numbing routine.
Its that I have to.
It started off as a precaution,
But now its taken over my life.
Every decision,
Every action,
and every movement,
Has to

Eventually
Hyper vigilant
Hyper aware of this body
These hands...
This heartbeat
It is all normal
Yet I feel some kind of
lingering lurking anxiety
An energy...An entity
Following me...
That thing is me...
I can't seem to set myself
free from the shaking
The chains of OCD
The sound of jingling
thoughts in this head
Like piggybank pennies
A sudden clanging in my chest
I'm scared...
and I don't know why
Scared of sleep...
Terrified

Mellow Joe
Most people notice my sunny disposition,
one that can cause blindness & irreparable skin damage.
They remark on the fact that all of my poetry
is so cheerful and positive,
wonder how a person who finds everything so funny,
could ever be sad about anything.
But what they don't know is that,
I, like most other
