Nipper Poems

Red Herring

As a young boy
when not very old
I did enjoy
being told
grisly bedtime stories
by my Mother
the favourite was
none other
than
altho' I was just a nipper
Whitechapel Fishmonger Murders
perpetrated by
Jack the Kipper

Paean To A Non-Vegetarian

"Eat your veggies," as a nipper I was told
but I'd hide 'em on me lap so Mum wouldn't scold
then all the quicker feed 'em to the dish-licker
before they were even cold
now I'm older not sadder but wiser
and do enjoy a tasty appetiser
they may appear to look like a pear
here's a myth I wish to quash
tho' they're fruit chayotes taste like
zucchini cucumber or squash
against the fence homegrown I grow me own
and me garden's full of chokos
"Choko-bloc," one might even say
I'll do a prickly pear or two
but still don't eat veggies to this day

Epistle

Will pens
(I'd have to think
when last I dipped mine in ink)
and sad to say
pencils go
the dodo's way
become extinct or obsolete
(oh no)
to the average man in the street
as if it weren't for junk mail
no matter how large or small
never mind trees and ecology
wouldn't have no mail at all
when I was young still a nipper
a lot more lively
hale hearty and chipper
had pen pals galore
now they're e-pals
it's done with thumbs
some folks use keystrokes
and I'm not sure
if anyone
writes letters anymore

Premium MemberThe House Wide Web

Some spider webs in our house
Are permanent installations
That have been up there so long
I’ve named them constellations

The largest is Webus Major
Made by a little nipper
That crawls around all day long
On what I call the silk dipper

One of my faves has got to be
The Arachnadromeda shape
And it may be the oldest
Above on the ceiling scape

Speaking of the oldest, there’s been
In the corner for an eon
Full of wings and fly gut things
The great Gossamer Orion

I’ve tried to show some of my friends
My constellations in training
And two guys, to my surprise
After drinking, took turns naming

My wife’s no fan of cobweb ‘stars’
Lately, I can barely trust her
Like when she asks for a ladder
While toting her new dust buster

Premium MemberNaps

Nap are my three kittens taking.
Napoleon stretching, waking,
Naiad naughty and quite faking,
Nipper so, so hesitating.
Natural love warmth they're bringing.
Need their sunshine and most loving,
Needed snuggles as they're shoving,
Nipping, to get away; rushing.
Nuisance at times, but adoring.
Nap time once more they'll be taking;
Nymph of nature when they're crashing.

a cute little nipper
sat on the big dipper
his voice was so chipper
when he lost his slipper

it’s gone said the dipper
I know said the nipper
it fell on a clipper
I’ll need a new slipper

laughter from the dipper
charged up little nipper
he leaned down to the clipper
and retrieved his slipper

Premium MemberThe Children Run

A Heptastich.

Reminiscing of our three-nipper sons
from a distant reality, far-flung.

Whenever the children run, laugh, or play.
Life through their eyes is but a game.
And they will change, soon that time comes.
Whenever the, children run, laugh, or play.
It's like Manna from Heaven. What, more need I say.

Worries, Warts and a Teaspoon

Worries warts and a teaspoon
a mosquito lives inside my liver
He escaped from the falling dune
to make me his caregiver
he brings his worries he brings his warts
He crawls through my nose
But alas his passport
my liver makes room
As he feasts on pink flower flesh
To make new
A new cocoon
I feel him writhe
I feel him slither
battle of my gushy mushy internal river
sting my finger for the egg
As sweet and bister as nutmeg
And place my nipper in my ear
Where she too
Will inch on through
On a teaspoon of worries and warts
a bitter taste of sorts
I listen to the whispers
Oh how nice
oh how kind
What a friend
What a find
A mosquito lives inside
Worries warts and a teaspoon
Forever, forever
God emperor of the dune

Luna Mutt Natalie’s Puppy

Little Luna licked a lot of lamb lollipops.
A lot of lamb lollipops little Luna licked.
If little Luna licked a lot of lamb lollipops,
Where’s the lot of lamb lollipops little Luna licked?

Mama’s mutt makes many melodic muffled musings.
Many melodic muffled musings mama’s mutt makes.
If mama’s mutt makes many melodic muffled musings,
What are the many muffled musings mama’s mutt makes?

If Natalie’s nipper nudges newfangled novelties,
Where’s the newfangled novelties Natalie’s nipper nudges?

Playful puppy perched on a purple platform.
On a purple platform playful puppy perched.
If playful puppy perched on a purple platform,
Where’s the purple platform playful puppy perched on?

Contest: Trademark ~ Quintain
Sponsor: Sara Kendrick

AN: After he had finished his famous painting on 11th February 1898, Francis Barraud (Liverpool) thought to himself that maybe the Edison-Bell phonograph company would find his work useful. Sadly, the company turned down Barraud’s offer, skeptically stating Dogs don’t listen to phonographs. But soon enough, the painting would become a highly successful trademark of the RCA Victor, HMV, EMI, and its many branch companies, as a registered trademark on July 10th, 1900.

Underpants and a Dance

Just outta of a shower and pampering
The next step for me is dressing
I’m so fresh and clean
And wanting to look so neat and pristine

I line up my boxers strategically placed
I’m ready in my dressing place
As I place my right leg through the hole
Suddenly I start a one legged dance craze role

You see things haven’t gone to plan
As my big toe gets caught on the waist band
Moving around the room as a dancing high kicker
Until cussing and panting I land on my kisser

And I wonder when my skill was lost
That I learnt those as a nipper at such a cost
When dressing was so easy to know
Now it’s more an acrobatic one man show!

Feel like an annoyance every damn day
Now old and useless, a teener should've stayed
Young, brash and chipper
Was a sweet wee nipper
Now a stumbling old retard needing constant aid
