Sadly, the company turned down Barraud’s offer, skeptically stating Dogs don’t listen to phonographs. But soon enough, the painting would become a highly successful trademark of the RCA Victor, HMV, EMI, and its many branch companies, as a registered trademark on July 10th, 1900.

This one got my attention because we had a rat terrier once who looked very much like that RCA dog. Thanks for participating in my contest. Sara

thank YOU, Sara for the generous placement. When I read of the history of the trademark, I thought - how wrong can people be when they don't look beyond the obvious. And I found out that Thomas Edison was one of the founders of GE, through a merger. My dad, brother and father-in-law all worked at GE.
