Planet of Hers

Volatile hormones – cause of stress,
Enhanced by monthly PMS -
Naysayer symptoms it exudes,
Unleashing food cravings and moods,
Sustained by menopausal mess.

Planet of His

Male’s calm after the storm of war,
Accomplished, hungry and at bay,
Relaxed and ready to restore,
Satiated, eager to play.

Premium MemberThe Mighty Fives and Sixes

I was asked to be a substitute teacher
For kindergarten. Wow. Sounds like a blast I think.
Sure. I’d love to, I say.
This was at 8:42 a.m.
By 9:00 I realized
Kindergarten is tough.
Tougher than teaching menopausal kangaroos.
These mighty five-and-six-year-olds were
In complete control.
Me being the way I am.
I tried to run away a couple of times.
But the ringleaders kept grabbing me
And tossing me back into the waiting
Arms of the followers.
I got as far as the water fountain once,
But pretty soon I quit struggling,
Realizing I was a cracker
Being held hostage
By an ant brigade.
Kindergarten.
Wow!

Premium MemberOn Turning Fifty

Sue screams so loudly
has she seen a little mouse –
no her first grey hair!

she’s menopausal
has hot flashes every day
saves on heating bills!

her huge birthday cake
is lit with fifty candles
fire brigade ready!

family gathers
to celebrate her birthday
Sue’s a proud mother

her grown up children
are all happily married
grandchildren love her

Sue embraces life
her husband Jim adores her
forever in love

Premium MemberConfined Glory Shining From Behind

It’s one of the masters of colony domination
and the longest standing territory with unchanged defined borders.
The wave power of praia do Norte
attracts the unique technology of a wave farm existence.
In a compound of many flats, it’s the most reserved
and one of the twin sisters
in their menopausal period of the life imprisonment era.

The first domineering power to abolish human right repressiveness
which sustains the oldest alliance made in the world.
It’s a colourful identity, maintained by the porto
which has been imitated by regional powers.
Shines through a record-breaking Santa Claus parade
and hitting heights with a ‘half-a-county’ dinning.

Known continental praises of remarkable length in Vasco da Gama;
shows off mini-glory in the league of large firework rockets;
an intangible cultural heritage in the express exhibition of fatalism;
are highlights to its greatness
spreading from porto to Lisbon, then Braga to Benfica and overseas
contributing its ink, in the inscriptions of the developed giants.

Shield

The menopausal man
doesn’t know whether
it is love or
pressure of the
groin

he preaches
heteropromiscuity
searching for frolic
as another shield

The Heart

The heart of man
Creates compassion

The heart of man
Starts action

The heart of man
Makes him a
“Yes I can, can”

The heart of man
Loves with all his strength

He’ll go that extra mile and
Extend his hand to an
Unbelievable length

The heart of man
Will fall on bending knees

And he’s polite enough
To always say “Please”

The heart of man
Can control a raging bull

With a gentle touch
A gentle pull

The heart of man
Is powerful

How much greater
If he were menopausal

Charade Parade

Hate begets hate,
Fatality it’s sure fate,
The belly of the sated,
Churned by hatred,
The lame marching in defiance,
Gossips in one alliance,
The mute raise their voices in harmony,
As partakers in the ceremony,
Eavesdropping was the pastime of the deaf,
Whistling amused the children with lip and palate cleft,
The blind bystanders look in awe,
Stunned by the things they saw,
Acid bath victim ignored by the law,
Hides behind layers of make up in an effort to conceal her flaw,
Nuns soliciting on the avenues,
Parading as women of easy virtue,
Best friends maintain strangle holds on each other’s throats,
While arch enemies raise glasses to toast,
Sterile men make a show of their genitalia,
Putting post menopausal octogenarians in lustful hysteria,
Making boast of their sexual prowess while puffed up with self importance,
Despite their impotence.

The Rich and Poor

THE RICH AND POOR
THE RICH MAN IS AN ALCOHOLIC
THE POOR MAN IS A DRUNK
THE RICH BOY IS EMOTIONALLY ILL
THE POOR BOY IS A PUNK
A RICH WOMAN IS MENOPAUSAL
A POOR WOMAN IS CRAZY
A RICH MAN RELAXING IS TIRED
A POOR MAN RELAXING IS LAZY
SO JUDGEMENTAL WE ARE
SELF RIGHTEOUS AND WITH NO CLUE
THE BEST PERSON THAT YOU CAN BE
IS DEEP INSIDE OF YOU
HIDDEN AWAY FROM THE WORLD
TOO ADFRAID TO BE KNOWN
WE ARE SO AFRAID OF BEING ALONE ©

Poet Laureate

Being pre-menopausal
last night
when I woke up
at three-twenty-four
and picked his book
off the floor
moaned and groaned
and gnashed my teeth
and bit my lip
and said, good grief
are we suppose
to read this junk

Have you ever
heard the word
brief or fun
or light or airy
And laid the book
back on the floor
and shut the light
and said, no more
I'd rather be asleep

101 Elder Road

The house on Elder Street is old,
menopausal in fact,
with no signs of children at play.
A lovingly maintained lawn
rolls gently from front porch
to the vine-covered mailbox
standing guard alongside
the blacktop pavement.
No fences hinder a visitor,
four-legged or two.

Built of strong stuff,
possessing a concrete foundation,
its exterior is real brick - not veneer.
Belonging once to a king,
this castle’s only turret
is a mighty stone chimney
capable of warming hearth and hearts.
Inside, a man could serenade his wife
while she let down her hair
without the neighbors hearing.

Then why the carefully stenciled
‘Reduced for Quick Sale’ sign
plunged deeply into the earth
near the verdigris number marker?
Why not instead,
‘Costs More – Appreciated with Age’?
Weathered house or leathered man –
fewer days of existence
makes one more desirable,
they say.

Sometimes outward blemishes
become more a factor in determining worth
than warmth, character,
and undeniable inner-charm,
but true value can be recognized
in the beauty of a deal, not curb appeal.
101 Elder Road would be a good investment.
The spirit within comes free.

Exercise ! Don'T Exert !!

‘Couch potato’,
‘Couch potato’,
Vexed by every one,
A mother of one,

A woman bulky,
Became sulky.
Coaxed to work-up,
For fitness to develop,

Took to swimming,
Jogging and running,
And drastic dieting,
All unscientific training,

Swift and slender,
Became tender!
Has the training worked wonder?
No! she invited danger!

She is twenty eight,
Walks with a waddling gait,
Gets intermittent ‘blush’?
No! It’s a ‘hot flush’!!

Mental irritation,
At times depression,
Irregular menstruation,
And painful coition,

Pain in the low back,
Fractures the femur-neck!
A menopausal syndrome?
No! An acute weight loss syndrome!
