Maelstrom Poems

Into the Maelstrom

The darkness within the heart,
The flaws of human nature,
The negativity from superiority,
The imbalance of rights and privileges,
The repercussions of unjust acts,
The soul is drawn into the maelstrom.

In The Midst of a Maelstrom

My emotions are consuming like wildfire.
Once elated, now, my body is burning.
My mind was once my friend,
now unspeakable thoughts torment my soul.

I rage, and I shake... trembling with fear.
   Questions consume me,
focused on a particular thought,
   like paralysis, I am locked.

Yet, beyond the whipping hair,
  and the deafening noise,
I see a glimmering light,
in the midst of a maelstrom,

Where there is faith, there is no fear.
  and the seas die back,
and sheets that I tore that became my slumbering chains,
now release me from my nightmare,
and Jesus stands there, with comforting arms,
   and calls my name.

I am reminded when facing a storm,
God does not give the spirit of fear.
God gives the spirit of strength,
  of sound mind,
and of love.
  Surrender,
and like a hurricane, walk to the center.
  There, you will find him...
His majestic peace...
  authority over all things.

A Man Or a Maelstrom

Ever since I met Jesus Christ
I never stopped thinking of him
every morning when I wake up
I always tell him good morning
and say good night to him
when I am going to bed

Everyday I am drawn to him
while reciting and writing my prayers
and singing high praises
to his Father who dwells above
and having dreams
about someday entering
his sacred kingdom in the air

I believe that he came
down to this earth
and ceded himself
on the plains of Gologatha
just so his blood
can cleanse
my transgressions
from the flesh

To this day I still accept him
as my personal saviour
for he is the light of the world
mightier than both Adam
and Moses combined
He is not only a man
but powerful like a maelstrom

this is a story...

of courage
and heroism.
after agonizing months
in captivity, withstanding
the churning maelstrom
of unspeakable horrors
day in, day out;
frequently subjected
to torture, mockery,
psychological warfare, etc,
the long-suffering prisoners of war
miraculously
make a break to freedom.
the great escape,
however,
tasted too bittersweet
to celebrate.
all but one was accounted for
the seemingly impossible
had to be done;
the intrepid soldiers
decide to u-turn back
behind enemy lines
to rescue one of their own,
no matter the cost.
fully aware
they're embarking
on a dangerous mission
that will suck them into
yet another maelstrom of war:
furious exchanges of gunfire -
they surge ahead nonetheless
they have no misgivings
dying by
the "Leave No Man Behind" code,
they live by.

Maelstrom

I heard the drub of rain pelting the roof
Unaware that a storm had been brewing
Roar of thunder, flash of lightning gave proof
that I had no idea, no inkling of what I was doing.

Spirit numbed and body drenched
I ventured into the maelstrom, unaware
or perhaps I didn't care. My eyes were clenched
preventing tears from falling. Loneliness is hard to bear

Sorrow bit at my heels where puddles formed
I swallowed a cry so no one would hear my sobbing
On I trudged while within me the maelstrom stormed
Confusion inside my head, heartbeat throbbing.

Charybdis' whirlpool swirled, trying to drag me in
Crested waves carried me toward its center
The tightrope I walked was a tenuous line
and lost forever I would be if I decided to enter.

On the edge of giving in, I swam for what seemed hours
The surge of flood tide would not claim me tonight
On sanity's shore I sat once more, allowing the showers
to sting my upturned face and have their moment of respite.

"A maelstrom of whirling emotions in me shout,
Penning it down helps me sort it out."
                                          ~ by poet

Man is a jumble of emotions,
A maelstrom of conflicting passions,
Enshrined in his heart are strong notions,
Love, mercy, peace, joyful compassions
Swirl together in mind's deep oceans,
Turmoil in this vortex leads to war,
Restlessness and negative uproar;
Overthinking whirls of thoughts explored,
Maelstrom of feelings in poems poured.

Through the Maelstrom

The deeper you dig
the simpler it gets
Each question supplanted
—the truth in your debt

Maelstrom

This is the shop of shattered illusions,
Ante room to a peculiar type of hell;
Enter here full of hopes
To have them all dispelled.
It is the stuff of nightmares,
Your wildest darkest dreams,
The door bell greets you
With a cacophony of screams.
The track in the background
Is of a clanking rattling chain
Accompanied by the moans
Of a being in utter pain.
As soon as you enter
The desire is to escape
From the Stygian gloom
Of this place of mental rape.
Where every second is
A week, every minute a year
And a writhing shaken brain
Silently yells get out of here.
Outside of the doorway,
Ashen faced shaking white
They all turn for a surreptitious
Last confirmation sight;
But the shop of shattered illusions
Doesn't stay anywhere for long
And before they can see it
It's disappeared, disintegrated, gone.

Maelstrom

A god mended in string and wired corsets, armature.
The blackened police the striders in the dark…
a crippled plaything,
a hymn of the tourniquet and tethers.
...an earth-bound deities song.
...of the corrupt entertain fears.
The black politic of crippled idol giggles at noon.
The laughter of the loon in the maelstrom of the melancholy.
Mechanics of pale things.
...fear the eyes of the black chromed officers.
Enigmatic and mysterious thin men in rusted black armature...
draconian laws of rooks.
Hymns for an inky book.
Stratagems of military men and political puppets,
see the crippled thing unwind.
The god entwined.
Broken shells and barbed wires,
Rusted gears,
Twisted springs,
Men in black cloaks,
...suspicious eyes,
lords of crimes, and dire deeds.
...of the broken god mended,
in string-wired corsets and armature.
The dark police the sable striders.
riders on the storm in the darkness...
as corrupted something abides!

The Maelstrom Inside a Ring of Desire

From the maelstrom inside
the ring a rose of fire-pit

We blindly stoke in order to
create , make and turn

Grains of sand we can then
metamorph into such
magnificence and finery like

Toy marbles for children with
 kaleidoscopic eyes trapped
inside to play with

And on a even grander scale

Windscreens aboard a shuttle
rocket so astronauts can see
and plot safe passages ahead

To clouded frosted mystical
crystal ball's so fortune teller

Can relay to all of us what
danger lies ahead in all ours
future's

When alas rather instead we
choose to waste our time
burying our heads in said sand

Than making far better
use of whatsover time we
find ourselves having
being lucky enough to
be blessed with

Like proving something
as dank and dark as sand

Can with a minimum amount
of effort and a little help
eventually become

Something as transparent
and far more beautiful

As a crystal chalice exuding
the colour of a rainbow

Maelstrom

i'm not
a flat earther
in fact
a fat circumfermenser

so knowing
that i try
to look
at my toes

but by gosh
by golly
i see
my belly

then also
taking in
how hairy
i am

a sinking ship
swirling down
to a not
Bermuda

triangle
but a lost
lint filled
bellybutton
