A society full of—
Self-obsessed.
Cruel.
Individuals
Absorbing
Lies.
Every scroll, every swipe,
They’re—
Manipulating
Egos,
Despicably
Influencing
Aesthetics.
We trade authenticity
For algorithms.
Validation comes in numbers —
Hearts, thumbs, views —
But none of it feels human.
Behind every perfect picture,
There’s panic.
Behind every caption of joy,
A silent ache.
Social media taught us
To compare scars,
To hide behind filters,
To pretend we’re okay.
But I refuse.
I want raw faces,
Unedited truths,
Flaws that breathe.
Because life’s not a highlight reel —
It’s messy.
It’s loud.
It’s real.
And I’d rather live it
Than like it.
A safe lie to make,
outweighed T-Bone stake.
A fassad way to fake,
not for Heavens but your sake.
Concrete ankle drowned bottom lake,
no more time to never awake.
Live nightmared body shake,
blind eyes glossed opaque.
Ice cream flavored frozen cake,
ungiven life chose to take.
Now you gotta live with that mistake,
if I die before I wake...
Carolina blue
directs singing bluebell choir
bringing crescendo
orchestrated with gold leaves
grown in field with blueberries
golden rod stands firm
long stems waving in the wind
giving allegiance
to the Carolina blue
blueberries march in review
For Rick Parise's "Blue and Gold" contest
The King turned to the men to his left
To his right
And he asked:
Are you my men?
And they answered:
Not until you take your golden scepter to our heads
Will we take our copper scepters to our loyalties,
And so they rode
The race of man
Following their leaders over the cliff
The Diamond scepter of reality.

There are no loyalties on Capitol Hill
They learned to worship the dollar bill
A group without ethics or common sense
Destroying our pride and independence
Both parties working together to pass
Laws bringing more to the upper class
Spending freely without worry or care
Reach into our pockets to find more there
An elite club of as-holes and we pay their dues
It doesn’t matter who wins, the people lose
We do need change and retribution
Our loyalties belong to a revolution
Not a term should be repeated
Each incumbent should be defeated
In Washington is there still evil lurking
Why are these CEO’s still working
How can they possibly still be there today
An unemployment check should be their pay
Congress does have loyalties, now that’s a switch
Their loyalties belong to the ultra rich.
No need to question what is to be gained.
A steadfast rule of the street.
Watching your own back and those of the one's closest to you.
Be by blood or by oath, bonds never to be broken or torn.
A head's up, a look out, being easy and holding it down.
Loyal till a last breath, a last touch or kiss.
No need to drag out the moment or expand upon the virtues in one's heart.
Be easy, breath, the message will be passed on, forwarded down.
Down the line from one set of firm lips to another till the receiver nods.
Won't sell out, won't be played.
Won't try to step out of one's place,
Constantly knowing one's place.
Loyalties are ties that bind.
Steel bars holding all together whether family, friend or foe.
A common denominator across the board,
non discriminating but all powerful.
