The Perfume Bottle

The crystal perfume bottle still remains,
the one he gifted her so long ago,
upon the dressing table veiling pains
of life’s uncaring, unrelenting blow.

The soft gardenia scent still takes him there
to moments shared when loving seemed complete;
unending nights beneath the stars they’d share,
and every sunrise was a joy to greet.

But then one winter day the angels came
to

the cedar tree

bright …

a flash of light -
thunder clapped like cannons as
into the old tree
we scurried ...
the mouth of its little
hollowed-out gut, yawning like some
tired old man from a Dickens story ...
perhaps the chin of the
ghost of Jacob Marley, let loose in
horrid fashion from its jaw-
binding bandages ...

       ~ then found

hope hushed

bound by doubt, I stood there amidst the bluebells
watching where she'd been but a moment sooner
dusk to come, her breath hanging like the
       shadows
she, thus departing

on my tongue, sweet words melted soft and
       tender
all those daring, romantic thoughts I'd gathered
passion dreams that longed

fields of life

to wend through golden grasses of my past
      with chill winds at my back from o'er the hill
   oh how I wish the glow of spring would last

thus far behind me stands that boy, miscast
      while just a jester, much too bright and

Lover's heartbreak

All I have left of you is this kiss ?? 
And it wasn't even on my lips
It's just a reminder of how I fell out of love
And I'm left sitting here wondering 

The first week I'd just stand by the shower
And the water full throttle would have at me
It'd be cold but I'd stand there

One last trip

The moon spilling it's magic potion to

The Unbroken Sun Osiris

Glory to her hands that stitched the green,
That sought the pieces of a love torn wide:
For her strong grief, a river spilling light:
For her sharp magic, beautiful and keen,
That found the fragments and refused to hide:
And knit his broken body back from night.

All things lost, scattered, shattered, and undone:

this choir only sings for one,
when once, blue-birds two,
the reflection of the splashing,
two souls, laughing against rapids,
when you danced, under moonlight,
I lost myself blinded to your sight,
a heaven, swiped two hands twice,
a mourning for a special someone,
the dunce springs off youth,
the affection of hand holding,
two nouns of sublimity,
