her smile kept its place,
as lovely as a butterfly
afloat upon her face
She skipped as to a melody
that played about her mind,
in harmony with springtime days
she always seemed to find
With hair a flow of summer breeze, 
spun gold and woven vine,
like Chardonnay from Maconnais,
a tasteful choice in wine

A Log Cabin of Long Ago

In a log cabin out in the Wild West
Many tumultuous years ago
A family cuddled and found sweet rest
By their potbellied wood-burning stove

A tall candle burned bright in the window
The harsh, cold wind beat upon the door
Everyone had done their evening  chores
And now had circled the warm wood stove

A golden glow filled the old log

choked the world with it's grasp.
People became anxious, some belligerent, when
asked to merely mask.
While others stock piled toilet paper to
wipe their sorry ass..
A million Americans suffered.
A million Americans passed.
Our health care system became overburdened
with such a daunting task..
People craving answers, turned to the experts to ask.

   We were where we shouldn't have been
   getting things we shouldn't have got.
   Delicious! The taste of forbidden fruit
   ripe, sweet, dripping and ready to rot.

They were gone long ago
but I kept my illusions dear
my arms around their ghosts
hugging my own fears

images of what is ideal
