I Am Thankful For

I am thankful for the breath He gives me each morning
and the sun that accompanies me with its ray
each time I kneel by my bedside to pray
I am thankful for life as I know it, and all that He brings

I am grateful for the lungs that hold my breath each day
and for every noteworthy tune I hear as I sing
and for my guardian angel's right wing
I am grateful for winter snowflakes and flowers of May

I am thankful for family and friends and strangers too
for the love I receive and the love that I give
the ability to love and to forgive
I am thankful for God's blessing, it never goes askew.

Premium Member You Were Wrong, Dad

I’d follow in Dad’s footsteps, he presumed.
Post-college, I would join the company
Great Grandpa founded. As the future loomed,
I had to drop the bomb: “Dad, try to see
it's MY life; I have chosen forestry."

I still recall his vitriolic rant:
“You’ll be a dismal failure, wait and see.
Succeed without MY leadership? You can’t.
You’re going nowhere fast. Someday you’ll be
rock bottom. Don’t come crawling back to me!”

Dad can’t believe I’m happy with my life.
He sees me as a failure to this day!
Perhaps he thinks I hide heartache and strife,
results of having chosen my own way!

A Response To Eric Is

“E.R.I.C. Is”

by: Eric L. Boddie

It is important
That the mind possess agility
And because of that
Eric is the exceptionally rare intellectual capability

For those who will challenge
Without the use of common sense
They need to understand
Eric is the extremely reactive intense consequence

To those who keep their Faith
Where God intended for it to be kept
Which, by the way, has never been in man
Eric is an extraordinarily realized immortal concept

For those who try to tempt
In an effort to press the buttons of the controller
Through their greatest efforts
Eric is enabled to reach infinite composure

To those who think
So as not to one day resent
Because most pain and stress can be avoided
Eric is especially rich in insightful content

For those who love
Because God gave it with respect
Through the realms of poetry
Eric is empowered to reveal inspired context

To those living in disgust
On today’s society’s view of life
Because of an increasing lack of love
Eric is the eager request to involve Christ

And saving the best for last
Because that’s how God did the greatest creation
For each eligible lady
Eric is the enjoyable relaxation of intimate conversation

"E.R.I.C.'s Response"
by: Eric L. Boddie

Every Risk Is Captivating
Because the reward is stimulating

Each realm is conquered
When true Love is hungered

Even reality is challenged
If the ego becomes damaged

Eternal Riches In Christ
That's the best way to Live any Life

Every rhyme is characterized
By every necessity to survive

Emphatic rhythm influences change
If the mind possesses infinite range

Evil reactions instill choices
That reject the addition of Spiritual invoices

Every reason is committed
With all the passion the Love Of God Permitted

Premium Member Bubble of Joy

When it was no longer dark
I went in the morning to the park
From liquid soap container in hand
I blew in glee large bubbles grand.

Morning sun glistened on my hair
Glinted the bubbles flying in the air
I saw them like soaring pearls glow
But inside they were all hollow.

They wafted up toward the blue sky
Until they couldn’t float much high
Meandering slowly they came down
To touch the blooming flower crown.

There they silently burst one by one
Sprinkling my joy I sensed with fun.

Premium Member A First Birthday

A FIRST !
BIRTHDAY

I saw the Ghost, of thirty seven years
let go of, set free, smiles, laughter, no tears.
I watched, as you glowed in the light of life,
letting go of, what caused you so much strife.

You gave into life, on this your thirty eighth Birthday.
For the first time in your life, you put the Ghost, away,
set Her, free so that you could be, let your spirit play
with your friends, family and me on this, your Birthday.

I can not help but think, your mother, is happy to know
that after all these years, the sadness, guilt you've let go
and realize that Her, sacrifice gave birth and life to you.
This is the ultimate sacrifice a Mother, can do

for the child She, LOVED with all Her, life.
Your heart, spirit, soul felt the cut from that knife
for thirty seven long and sad years.
Now - the thirty eighth - time to shed no more tears.

This She, did for you Xiao Ling, so you could live,
make Her, proud, watch you grow, see you give,
know that, in you, Her Spirit, Her Soul, lives on.
One day - thirty eighth Birthday - know She's not gone,

lingering on in your memory's hoard, inside your heart.
Your thirty eighth Birthday has given you a new start,
one, that throughout the years to come,
you - joy, happiness from

will light up the skies,
will fill your Mother's, eyes.
Nothing in this universe, ever dies!
In this, A truth lies.

You walk through my thoughts
With the same sure-footed command
You walked through the house.
Your pitter-patter of feet
Pounds like a drum in my head.

No bowl in your special corner
You thrive on the meat of my mind.
No wrinkles on my bed
Where your purring body slept
Just my heart, crumpled
By the weight of your absence.

Gold-green eyes
That flashed warmth like a smile
Now bring hot tears
To my eyes in remembrance.

My lap is empty and cold
It cannot hold memories
Full and warm,
Alive with your image
And the comfort you were.

You walk through my thoughts-
Pray the pain of your footprints will pass.

Premium Member Astral Trip Version 2

It seemed like an innocent experiment simple enough I had read the steps
Bedtime routine out of the way I was ready to start ~

Relaxing tape playing for ambiance I was gone in an instant
With zero recollection of the next thirty minutes
When I heard a thunderous clic signaling the music had suddenly stopped

Overcome with a blissful calm feeling I refused to open my eyes
Having a very different reaction than my bedfellow
Who was quite unaware of my little experiment

While he was busy screaming and throwing pillows
At the figure in the dark standing motionless at the foot of the bed
I managed to let slip out a couple of reassuring “it’s ok’s”
Eyes still blissfully closed as I was savoring the last milliseconds
Of my soul’s sudden re-entry briskly sucked in
Inches above my navel with almost a slurping sound

That was my first and last astral trip a little too very real for my liking

To Daisy

When the world seems to me an unbearable place
And troubles weigh too heavily on my shoulders
And try as I may there can be found no solace
For my pain, my anguish, and my sorrow to soothe;
When I feel like God and the angels all conspired
To deny me the pleasures of wealth, friends, and fame
And thus alone I rue my fate and call for Death,
In silent cries, to come and my existence end.

Then I hear her voice and the clouds seem to dispel,
With gentle tones that pull my feet back on the ground.
Her kindness, patience, care, understanding, and love
Awaken me from brooding too much on the dark;
Her tender touch calms the storm brewing in my heart,
She drives away the raging demons from my mind.
Thus, when I no longer want to cling on to life
She comes to me and somehow things turn out right.

She lifts my mind from wallowing in misery
To a brighter and a more pleasant reverie.

Premium Member Fame In Lost Time

 Written: September 29, 2023
_________________________________________________________

Silence has an inherent sense of fame.
stance that orates itself without a name.
Before the earth was claimed by sound,
Silence knew it would inherit all around.

Perched on a wall, a cat decries stardom.
Amid the birds in the gazebo or a dogdom
Its sleep is both intriguing and delightful.
Those who bear vigil from dawn to nightfall

During a brief time, a tear acquires fame.
On the cheek where the soft grasp came
It elicits emotion, both optimism and pain.
And it provides a mark that will not wane.

A twisted snapshot, a treasure kept close
It decries fame in the echoes it evokes.
It's a prized gift for the one who bears it.
Yet it is left behind by the one who depicts

In shopping queues and on congested streets.
Where smiling dwindles, memories fleet.
I wish to be dubbed the one who smiles back.
Sending light to those whose souls were black.

akin to a pulley, calm to recur but widely admired.
Or a buttonhole that draws a garment desired.
I don't care to be famous for my opulence or show.
But there are a few traits that I will never outgrow.

In the lost seconds, where beauty hides.
Where mirth and trust in peace reside
I aspire to be a light in the darkest night.
And introduce a smile to everyone's sight.
