Premium Member Silent Love Affair

Softly I whistle from across the fence
your head like lightening lifts
in greeting as your eyes come to life
you meet me halfway and
lower your chin to my shoulder
as I throw my arms
around your neck, nestling into
your warmth and inhaling your aroma
your breath is soft and warm,
sweet smelling as hay,
in the crisp morning air.
My hands run across the vast
expanse of your broad shoulders
remembering all the times they
carried me and my problems
to the slow running river where
we’ve spent most our days
in sunshine and blissful silence
running across the grassy plains
I could feel the power in
every graceful stride
feeling safe and secure
You’re a friend who asks no questions
you willfully do my bidding and
are always there to listen
A friend like you,
is a friend indeed,
you, my faithful companion,
my steed.

Brother

When we were kids, you liked to torment me, go to the park and climb the highest tree.

Run across gullies at high speed, leave me on the other side with shaking knees.

But then there were days by the TV watching Banana splits and Christopher Lee.

Going to the fields to hide in long grass then run round the streets and fall on our ****.

We moved like gypsies from place to place, new schools, new people, we accepted our fate.

The boy with the golden hair was by my side and I wasn’t lonely cause we were best mates.

Then came the day we no longer roamed, found schools with good teachers, at last we were home.

We got on our bikes to explore the estate; cautious and wary we sped round the place.

To our surprise the kids were friendly and fun, not hostile or tough, or in your face.

Young ones, older ones, boys and girls, down by the brook all summer long.

Through escapades, bonfires, occasional tiffs, the Steppingstone gang stayed strong.

The Perfect House

The Perfect House

There is the perfect house
Abandoned so long ago
Left to die all alone
Surrounded by the red desert
Scrub growing in place of grass
Kangaroos and cows die in the front yard
Geckos still run across the wasteland
Looking for a little shade
Water and food are kilometres way
A weekly trip just to survive
Still, that house is a piece of art
Telling a story that has to be told
Of someone trying a new life
Far away from the hassle of the city
Far away from a life that was not their own
There is the perfect house
Telling the history of a savage land
The problem is, no one will ever hear it
Before it is gone with the Outback winds
Buried under the blowing sands
And forgotten forever

Premium Member Everybody Loves Raymond

I never knew how this could be true
Until I myself began to love Raymond too
The last man to kiss on these sweet lips
The passion and excitement of him I truly miss

Others called him Raymond, but I called him Ray
Because of the light and sunshine he brought to me each day
He is the only man that can trigger my heart
And makes it pitter patter
And can get me to a place in this world
Where nothing else even matters

There will be a day when I will run across Ray
But then what will I do? Better yet, what will I say?
Our eyes will say what our mouth won’t speak
As my heart pitter patters and my flesh gets weak
He can trigger that fire in one quick sec
I smile as I sit back, reminisce and reflect

My body will be ready and so will my heart
But my mind will know for sure, that this is not the time to start
No, no, no, no second string, or side piece
Not even his “lil Boo”
For that is something neither one of us is not about to do

Time, circumstances and certain situations
Were the reason why we never had sexual relations
Some flashy moments and hot, passionate kisses
Would be as far as we both would go
I wonder, ooh I wonder, but I guess we’ll never know

Although we came close and there were times
That became extremely heated
His gentle hugs and soft caress was really all I needed

I’m grateful and thankful he exposed me to greater
I didn’t know love like this in my younger days, I had to wait til later

Sometimes I wonder and sit in a daze
My love for this man, I am truly amazed
Such a compassionate man, so fragile with me
I love our quiet moments and how it used to be

Will I ever be intimate?
Will there ever be another who could take me to this height?
If I ever come across him, then maybe I just might

Don’t know if everybody else still loves Raymond
But I know I surely do
He’ll always have a place in my heart and this is oh so true

Distant love doesn’t mean a thing and has never faded away
And that is why I can say, I still love Raymond this day

And Sadness Reigns

And sadness reigns
Though never ordained
from the simple truth
Billowing joy
Subverting bliss
Standards too ephemeral
To lobby the naked
wishes we hold
Desperately close
To our heart
And sadness reigns
Our heart
once whole
Sputter and mends
And beats eternally
No matter the blood
No blood the matter
It seeks, filters
and dispenses joy
From mechanoly cells
Pleading for regeneration
The familiar beg towards
Indiscriminate joys
Mean nothing but
To be left alone
Crystallized, for exhibition
to the many
Everyone partake
Seek a morsel for
Yourself
Because it's fleeting
And sadness reigns
Through our ears,
Acoustic lies flutter
Sincerely, vacant waves
Of love melodic,
It does its job,
Tainting sweetly our reality
While souls huddle close
For a deeper view
Our here and now
Climbs, repels
From sentimental summits
Vistas of pretty dreams
Fragrant, lauding over
The stench whispering
Towards the barren valley below
Then back to us
Hearing, humming
Exhuming
Chemical reactions
Singed
By recall
Broken or of whole
The music
Causing joy to
Drop by when we need it the most
And sadness reigns
We're startled,
As focus brings
The world into
Rarefied view
Intensive stare,
Colliding our senses
Interpreting their meanings
Elastic snowballs
Thundering into
Psychotic waves of
Lustful avalanches
that burn the retinas
With joy, inquisition,
Indelible glances
Hung up neatly
To wear when
Dreams demand them,
And there are peeks,
Boisterous looks
That tease your mind
And theirs
Visionary tales
Gross of dischord
And malfunction,
Though they serve
As guests,
Glee in a box,
Nibble, taste
Devour, done
And sadness reigns
Because you and I
All before us
And those to follow
And yet to come
Arrive, depart through
Unmarked swiveled doors
Betwixt adjoining suites
Cemented
Endlessly
By the mundane
we require
The horrific which we
Bring and run across
The zeal we grab
For ourselves and others
The aggression we
Wage and deflect
The resignation we extract
And authorize
And somehow
As sadness reigns
We defect
And elect
To be ruled
By something else.

Running From Yourself

You run across my mind, but in my heart I hold you back,
I don't want to remember that pain, I purposely forget,
Because i already know deep in my soul you run with your outter image,
That it would take a bulldozer to make you face what you can't finish,
So overloaded with pride, it directs your every move,
You claim its just the opposite so you don't look like a fool,
Living for their image will only wear you down,
I saw the truth within your your eyes before you even skipped town,
You fight yourself on the regular, your pulled in every direction,
Everyone else's opinions block you from seeing your own reflection,
Your here, your there, your everywhere.dam straight! You are confused,
You can't even sit still for five minutes to contemplate why you do what you do,

Premium Member Me

The body people never see
Is the one I keep inside of me.
I know they see me getting old,
With hair no longer quite so gold,
Perhaps my back is not as straight.
Maybe they see I have to wait

And walk, not run, across the street
To see a friend I want to meet.
My face has wrinkles now, I know,
Some things have sagged a bit below,
But this is not the one I see.
Inside my mind, it isn’t me!

When I’m not looking in the glass
I never feel the years have passed.
The inner me says I could run
Around the block, and, just for fun,
Ride my bike ’til twilight’s calling -
Or climb a tree, no fear of falling!

My hands, of course, do not have spots
Or knuckles swollen into knots.
Instead, a youngish woman’s form,
Not yet assailed by age’s storm,
Is lithe and not yet bowed by years.
So here’s to the inside me with cheers!

Premium Member The Last House On the South Side

Heading east on 16th Street
where the road becomes a “T”
it’s the last house on the south side
that means so much to me.

Pine shrubbery up to the windows
giant cottonwoods stand guard
an arch above the driveway
an eighteen acre yard

Wrapped in warm wood siding
inviting young and old
“Come! Sit upon this porch of mine!
Such stories yet to be told!”

The shingled roof, though worn with time
still boasts unyielding strength
a red brick chimney standing tall,
giant windows down the length

I helped to plant those giant trees
when we were both still small
and pulled the weeds from every inch
of eighteen acres....ALL!

I’ve climbed out of those windows
some punishment to escape
I’ve run across that rooftop
donned in a long red cape

I’ve crawled under that porch
upon my hands and knees
to rescue baby kittens
or little brothers for to tease

I’ve chased the dogs around the house
upon my faithful steed
who was just a Shetland pony
but always up to the deed!

Within those walls, and out it seems,
many lessons there were learned
and in the process of it all
the memories, on my heart, were burned

Though things change, as all things do,
there, most things stay the same
like love and laughter flowing ‘round
and calling out my name

Now, when I’m growing weary
and need a place to hide
I jump into my trusty car
and go out for a ride

‘cause

Heading east on 16th Street
where the road becomes a “T”
that last house on the south side
means so much to me!

Time

Life millstones pressures creation to sort
through essential time, balms the albatross
over seasonable means, paid in court.

A past fraught in qualm, trading ourselves short,
wills the clock face, hands smile--it sates the loss...
life millstones pressures creation to sort,

from the moment that stretches to distort,
spoke present to a fresh reference, toss
over seasonable means, paid in court.

Seconds, minutes, hours ticking by, assort
cleft role of abled spread twinklings as moss.
Life millstones pressures creation to sort

that infinite future's schedule, escort
zealous flashes duly, that run across
over seasonable means, paid in court.

Shapes an hourglass, together, we support
an eternal measured us, reach across.
Life millstones pressures creation to sort
over seasonable means, paid in court.
