Shish (Hating)

Everyday I wake up being determined
The only thing that catches this eye
in a life of mines is why they hate me so much
from my friends to foes
I get tired of childish plays
from the fellas that just wanna lay

Now you thinking Im crazy
I just been going through some things
but don't no one understand
but they wanna expose my name
thats all that they know
they don't know the struggle
all they see is the trouble
I just shish; don't say nothing

these rumors they killing me on the inside
I battle the tears on the out
where I still show my pride

Everday I watch my friends change
its all a shame
I been trying to make it through this game
now that Im doing something with my life
they want to put me down
all it is; is hating
they criticize me, talk about me and family
now just know
only person that know me is God and I

So I just shish
and let these haters keep on hating
cause I don't ever want to take your place
In my life Im goin to keep hustling
until I get my paper chase

What's stopping now
So I just shish; let these haters rise me higher
is that my name in your mouth
but you better be careful
don't let the quiet cute girl fool you
I will straight mess you up

Yeah I talk it
Im never holding it back
because it makes me mad
when you think you about to out
do me in your loud ghetto talking ways

Many people say why I don't wear my hair like this
Why I don't talk like this
Why do I think Im better than this person or that
hold up listen
when did I ever have to be like you
you must forgotten my name
Neshia B. off in this thing
cause thats how I set it off
I got my own style
don't worry about trying to change up my profile
Im just another lady that has more class
telling you haters to kiss my but

What makes me upset
is how certain friends change on me
but my grandpa told me before he died
I was going to walk down this road
Im sitting here like dang
he told me so
I knew that would come anyways
for better or worse
its for the better; it just shows me who real and who fake
So I just take what life throws at me
and try to live it out a better way

So I just shish; let these haters keep on hating

Letter To My Inspiration

This is a letter to my inspiration and the people who inspired me to write
There's a lot of writers who I have a desire to be like
While Adding my own style from what their words taught me
I always looked up to rappers because I didn't have my parents support me
I fell in love with rhyming at a young age
Heard Eminem when I was 8, and began to see how many rhymes I could fit on one page
Writing about my flaws, helped me become stronger & move past my dumb ways
I was sitting in the children's homes hoping my family would call
But they didn't so it was just me, my pad, pen and posters on my wall
I love Bone Thugs and Wu tang
Hip-Hop kept me up to date with the new slang
That's part of the reason I talk this way
Parents weren't around but Run DMC taught me to walk this way
I'll fight the power even if I become the public enemy
I hold my pen close, me and the pad have amazing chemistry
Put my heart in every line there's isn't a space filler
Trying to be like Ghostface Killah
Inspired by many but intimidated by none
A true writer knows their pen is more powerful than a gun
I feel like I'm writing from Tupac's dropped pen
Using the same ink that was used by Rakim
Grew up hoping to be like Biggie, Tupac, Jay-Z, Eminem, Nas
Common, Ice Cube, Big Pun, Big L, I want to rhyme like the gods
If you don't consider those guys as gods your opinion is Invalid to me
Every sentence you speak will be a Ballad to me
because I'll feel sorry for everything you say
Can you look beyond the words see the picture on display?
Wanted to write like KRS-One, Mobb deep, MC Eiht, big Daddy Kane
Idolising all these rappers and writers because my daddy never came
Will I be considered fake because I idolize rappers and not poets
Will anyone understand why I wrote this?
It wasn't until recently I understood why J.Cole wrote Let Nas down
If you compare me to anyone I've mentioned I'll never have the crown
I wonder if any of my idols would like any of the lines my pen is creating
This is a letter to my inspiration

Silly Little Girl

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I'm not perfect. I'm only human.
When I have a bad day, I get moody and
Sometimes, I take it out on you.
But I do the best I can do.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I write too much, but I can't stop.
I refuse to pretend to be someone I'm not.
When I'm home alone, my favorite thing to do
Is turn up my radio, sing in my brush, and dance around the room.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I have a million different dreams.
I want to be a million things.
I need ten more lifetimes
To accomplish what I have in mind.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I sing too much and dance in the car.
My friends are my world and we usually go too far,
But we're just silly little kids who love to have fun.
We won't let your dark clouds cover our sun.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I wish I could change the problems I see,
But I'm just one person. I'm only me.
I'm still going to work and I will try,
But I need you to help me kiss these problems goodbye.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

I'm the biggest dork you will ever meet.
I laugh too much and love to sleep.
I have my own style and I hate my hair.
If you don't like me, that's ok. I really don't care.

I'm just a silly little girl
Dreaming of a better world.
I smile when I hear a song I like.
I laugh when I watch a girl fight.

Incomplete Thought

Uncertainty of something so certain
That has an uncertain end
Eternally searching for ways to mend
A broken mind with leaking emotions from a shattered vessel
It seems like I forgot what made me special
And precious
Am I jealous?
If I am I don’t know who
But I doubt if that’s true
What am I to do?
Nothing to construe
But I’ll leave my problem up to you
And for you to fathom
And think about
With every chance I get
I scream and shout
But what upsets me
No one seems to remember
But they always forget me
But what affects me?
I don’t have a clue
With all that said and done
Here is what I conclude
Me and my attitude
Got too many problems
I need help to solve them
I search for answers
When there is no explanation
Life’s toughest breaks
Cease my concentration
With little or no contemplation
Slight hesitation
To request demonstrations
For any translation
Of my bedazzling situations
My mind’s cramped like menstruation
In need of spiritual penetration
To reach the source causing a many complications
So I can feel that sensation
And feel the infatuation
Of being human and breathing breath
Then I’ll look forward to life after death
Even if I am the last one left
I’m ready for spiritual theft
And my rhyme so def
I am the most def
Most definitely,
Equivalent to the definition
Compare me to you
And you’ll see what you are missing
Human snakes hissing
And twirling their tongues of guile
I reveal to them the truth
But they still in denial
Spiritual war may take a while
But when I’m in hard times I smile
And avoids things that are vile
Because I know my inner demons
Ain’t ready for this child
Born to be wild
Developed my own style
But about to be grown

MY SPIRIT SOARS

"The wind rides in solitude, In her diaphanous delight Her skirts brush eternity, To gather the stars of night"

Music fills my soul and wakes up my senses
and I find my whole body moving to the beat,
rhythm, tempo, cadence of the music in precise,
distinguished moves, defined, delivered with feelings.

How dancing stirs me and lifts me up is beyond me.
Every move I emote is an expression of art, feeling
serenity, freedom, happiness and being in a trance
while I sway, shake gracefully, showing my authenticity.

Dressing up makes me feel free, expressing my love
of fashion and expressing my own style, individuality.
It is art to me, playing, coordinating colors, adding
accents of scarves, hair pieces, belts showing my chic way.

Travel enlightens me, brings joy, delight to my being.
It gives me knowledge, being aware of the facts and
familiar with the places I visit while enjoying my stay.
It gives me freedom of exploring and sweet memories.

How my passions carry, transport me into
another world, where I find solitude, serenity,
freedom, delight, joy or up above with the stars
and that is when my spirit soars with the wind.

Dear Poetry Soup Member ( a Letter)

Allow me to get straight into the matter. If I have offended anyone with my poetry that
has been posted on this site, I deeply apologize. I'm 32 yrs old, and I am very mature
although some of my work can be way out there. I'm also still learning. You guys should
know my dad Marty Owens posts all my work because I am incarcerated and don't have
computer access.
Now about my "adult content" pieces, it was brought to my attention, these poems
are "turning people off." My fellow poets, have you read these pieces? Most are not totally
sexual! There may be a couple sentences that are erotic and if so, I place "adult content." I
feel some poets are just not open-minded and quite frankly "too old school." After all this is
2010 and we are poets of today! This is not the days of "Shakespeare!"
I am asking my fellow PS members to respond to this letter...I want to know you guys
opinion.
I would like any advice concerning my work. It's no secret, I am best at "slam" poetry!
That is my genre, my area. Did you guys know that 6 months ago I couldn't tell you what a
Haiku is?! Senryu is?! I seriously did not know poetry had different forms! lol Go ahead
and laugh. Growing up, I just "wrote my own style" Which I've found out is "slam" lol But I
did know what a "spoken word poet" was.
So with that said, I genuinely am sorry...I have a lot to learn. I would love to hear any
advice...Thank you PS.
                                      Love you guys....Jimmy M. Anderson

P.S. Marty will send all comments and sm's to me

Face the Facts

1/7/21

Bugs near and far from the farm swarm
Got my own style and art form
I weathered many harsh storms
Love me, and my hearts yours

People trying to help and others with no regard for
One another, events in life can be hardcore

Having zero interest or a fan of Star Wars
Out of shape or able to partake in parkour
Hit the bullseye or missed the dartboard
People living in mansions and others in cardboard

Brought to the light or remaining in the dark more
Hidden behind barred doors

You must be kidding me
Still I see
People continually
Displaying hostility
And full of trickery

All these secret facilities
And the world still obsessed with nobility

Crystal clear or no visibility
Struggling to find tranquility
And stability

The slope is very slippery
If you're not ready, it can cause injury

Moving with agility
Improving my capabilities
Working towards victory
And solving mysteries
Before I am officially
Gone for good, AKA "History"
I'll eventually reach the state of synergy

Before it all fades to black
Got to face the facts
Heinous or courageous acts
Don't ever be a racist a**
Full of hate and wrath
Save the crap
No wonder you couldn't even finish a basic task
Always so quick to blame and laugh

An increase and drop in megawatts
At all costs
Eventually I connected the dots

I either gave my best or not
At a speed of less or more than seven knots

Will I end up in hell or enter heaven God?
I accept the outcome, and figured this is the best way to end it off

Friends With Benefits

Living my life on the Dole*,
Because my Mum told me so,
Interview at ‘McDonalds’, but that Tyrant told me "No!",
See, we're a family with pride,
Don't sell fries at super-size,
But where's the pride,
If I can't provide,
For my own style of life,

Spent my money from the *Brew,
On Irn-Bru**, I swear that’s true,
Dreary, damp & cold, This black hole, I call home,
Only 'joy' I get in life’s the 'stick' I use for X-BOX,
And I aint got a tumble dryer so I step with wet socks,
Work-shy, but money-hungry,
Flats cramp-sized & pretty ugly,
Arrogant guy,
Until I woke up and realised that no-one loves me.

Brain melts to slush, in this non-testing occasion,
‘Gain Work’ is a must, for a teenage Caucasian,
Nothing separating me,
From drug-addled Dads of three,
No payday,
Just giro day,
No jobs… great,
Keep trying mate,

No end in sight as unemployment rises,
Government gives you cash like they were handing out prizes,
Where’s my reason to go out & work? My motivation,
Its pleasing no-one now, this escalated situation,
Experience is something that you earn, not that you’re born with,
Inexperienced forever, if I don’t get employed quick,
I don't enjoy sitting on my broken couch for hours,
I'm your Friend with Benefits, can only wash with cold showers.

Me Myself and I

Me myself and i

For I myself,
Believe in myself.
For I love to stand by the book shelf.
In order to read some nice stuff.

Yoruba is my lineage.
I’m seen by my image.
And am called by my real name.
Buying things, I buy not fake.

I aim to be among the greats.
For one of my saying, says,
“Pays to be popular than being famous’’
Cos, famous people could be no-torious.

People say am pretty shy
That a time, I wish to cry.
Cos, I know I do try
To hide that, am really shy.

I’m a Muslim,
For my religion is, Islam.
So, pock meat is an haraam.
But I’m free to dine on ram.

I wish to be a doctor
So that youngsters can see me as a mentor.
I love teaching as a Professor.
For all that are great, are my mentor.

People don’t really know me,
So, this is to tell who I be.
For I prefer being a Lewis’ base,
Than to be a bronsted’s base.

Ridwan is my real name.
Olyrid is just a nick name.
You better know before it’s too late,
For I involve not in a criminal case.

My advice for you in life is this:
Serve you GOD, when not in pains
For in good health a person fails,
But calling unto him when soaked in pains.

Olyrid4real,
Is my yahoo mail.
I’m dark, friendly and a little tall.
And all I love is winning soul.

For all I hate, is the “big boys” style.
Cos “sagging” is what they like.
For all I do, it’s my own style.
So if you like, you can be my type!

Everyday Life

I'm living life the way only i know
Thanking god for every minute
I'm allowed to get some doe
So here i go on my hustle
On a daily basis
Got me dealing with different races, collecting money in different places
I love to live so I live to love
Everyday receiving blessings from the man above
Using my talent that's heaven sent
Cant sit around stressing bout the time I spent on nonsense
Cause there's more to life,I'm just trying to get my piece
And dodge the drama when in the belly of the beast
Just trying to enjoy my piece of mind
But every time I get a piece they want a piece of mine
So its back to the kitchen to cook up some more of my poetry
Using my own style to let the people know it's me
Something so different from what what u use to seeing
Coming straight from the mind of this conscious being
Lord forgive me everyday I sin
Cause I know without you it's a battle,i wont win
So I gotta take my time and maneuver so strategic
Be blunt with it put in ya face so i know you see it
To be or not to be,what's the scenario?
AS the time passes I'm wondering where did it go
So I use my gift before I lose it
This is my drug of choice, and I choose to abuse it
For the better good of humanity
Something to bring a little joy through the face of insanity......
