On a grassy knoll silhouetted against the rising sun,
Astride his pinto pony sits a Native American son.
A majestic bronzed brave, feathers wafting in the breeze,
Arms uplifted in obeisance, the Great Spirit to appease.
He offers thanks to Him for the grandeur of creation,
For the sun and moon from which he gathers inspiration;
For flowing rivers and the life-nurturing rain,
And for the beasts that roam the vast, verdant plain.
He asks the Great Spirit to bless his arrow and bow,
That with true aim he can fell life-sustaining buffalo,
To contribute to the welfare of his tribal clan,
A feast of roasted meat and many hides to tan.
He prays that among his brothers peace will prevail,
And that he be protected as he lopes along the trail.
He pleads for honor in battle be the outcome victory or defeat,
And that he be brave and not falter against foes he shall meet.
A tear rolls down his cheek thinking of his ravaged, sacred land;
Broken treaties and those who deal with deceitful hand.
With sad heart he lowers his arms and slowly turns away,
Determined that from the paths of his fathers he will never stray.

It was once the pride of a prairie farmer not too many years ago.
Now, long abandoned it stands forlorn on a wind-blown plateau.
Its rusting blades slowly turn at the whim of every passing breeze.
It has weathered the storms of summer and the bitter winter's freeze!
It leans a bit askew and a couple of blades are missing from the shaft,
And it squeals a lot as it laboriously turns with each passing draught.
The rusty weather vane dangles lifelessly having served its vital role.
No life-sustaining water doth it draw for this once busy watering hole!
A couple of stately cedar trees grow nearby as if standing guard,
Over the old windmill's enfeebled frame so twisted and so marred.
The water tank that once over-flowed with cool waters from the well,
Now lies in a corroding heap where not a living thing doth dwell!
A once sturdy barn leans in upon itself nearby in a terrible shambles,
Nearly hidden by ancient oaks and creeping blackberry brambles.
What was once a prosperous farm, alas, is now torn asunder.
Who once dwelt in that archaic homestead, I am left to wonder!
The once beckoning oasis sated the thirst of a multitude of creatures.
A well-worn path is seen leading there - 'tis one of its lasting features.
The verdant prairies for many years with working windmills were replete.
Graceful windmills that graced the landscape are, alas, nearly obsolete!

Orange feathers in the warm air,
Blackberries seem to be floating in a lair.
The dry season in June is bountiful,
A video that lives in the days of plentiful.
Birds land with absolute elegance,
Designed ice cream and blackberry grace.
Feed the frenzy; all hunger is quenched,
Life-sustaining food in berries drenched.
Scarcity and deprivation soon follow,
My ears perceive the winter ominous hollow.
Every day they must contend with the weather,
In every form, I'm aiming for food and heather.
There are almost endless varieties of berries,
from speckled blueberries to gnarled blackberries.
The flavor matches the bursting thrill of a single cherry,
But to fully grasp it, she has to relish it fully.
I am longing for the end of the year,
Until a rich, fresh life brings berries here.

Like all my siblings, I dropped from my mother's crown, oh, about twenty years ago now
Fortunately, though a tough nut to crack, I eventually poked my green head up out of the ground
Turns out that I'm a tree, an Eastern Black Walnut to be exact, or Juglans nigra to be super exact
Now, nearly thirty feet tall, I can feel I've slowed down in growth some, normal for us black walnuts
If I keep my roots, and that pesky walnut caterpillar doesn't find me, I should double my height
My leaves are busy factories turning sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into life sustaining oxygen
You humans love the pungent taste of my healthy fruit and use it in a slew of your culinary delights
They tell me studies show that the antioxidants I host are beneficial for human medicinal purposes
That chocolate wood I lumber around is top notch for constructing beautiful, long lasting furniture
So whatever our destiny may be, dresser, medicine, or tree, us black walnuts will always stand tall
Those we love don't go away
They walk beside us every day
They assure us telling- “Fear not,
We’ll abide with you and never desert”
They may not gift us with incense, myrrh or gold
But their loving assurance makes us bold
In darkness, they burn like a guiding beacon,
In loneliness, a sweet presence never letting us weaken.
When broken, I look up to my Dad and Mom
Their prayers from above make me calm.
I am sure, their love won’t part from me.
Their blessings make me swim across the turbulent sea.
Rich, I am with a treasure that never ends—
Nothing beats the love that comes from true friends.
Like the early rays of morn, they fill me with joy
Like the dulcet notes of a flute, they make me enjoy.
Our friends, a chosen crew who walk with us along life’s shore.
Their love, a strong thread, saving grace and an open door.
Their presence, a lingering scent, a life sustaining breath.
They stay on, activating and energizing us till our death.
When I behold the rising of a new day's sun,
Or glorious sunset when the day is done,
Or view the majestic moon rising o'er the dell,
I see the Hand of God at work and know that all is well!
It is He who waters the earth with life-sustaining rain,
To nourish all the fruits and fields of golden grain.
He renders the bountiful harvest across the verdant plain.
'Tis surely the Hand of God attending His vast domain!
Who but He could have formed the mighty mountain peaks,
Pristine lakes, flowing rivers and gently rippling creeks!
It is He who adorns the trees in gold and scarlet every fall.
'Tis surely the Hand of God that wrought this celestial ball!
I see the Hand of God when a mother cuddles her newborn child;
When the babe first peered at mother's face and sweetly smiled!
He has boundless love for all creatures be they great or small.
'Tis surely the mighty Hand of God that governs o'er all!
When I regard the stars or a comet as across the sky it speeds,
How can I not stand in awe of His matchless deeds!
Though there is so much about His universe I'll never understand,
This I know for sure - 'tis the creation of the Master's Hand!

Vacation Bible School 2006
A Child’s Eyes
By
Tom Wright
Each time we peer
Into the eyes of a child there’s a choice
We can walk away or become involved.
For behind each child’s colored windows
Lay the answers to future problems unsolved.
Their innocence
Directs the eye’s communiqué.
Unwitting children needing Godly training,
A vehicle of choice is Vacation Bible School
Lessons there learned, could be life sustaining,
There is Jumping Juniper
And eye dilating Bible stories to hear.
To a young child, Bible School is one big deal.
With crafts, prizes, cookies and ice cream cones
Or wearing a cool aid mustache as they run and squeal,
Lord, let each participant
Summon from within, Patience,
Acting not malicious or being in too great haste.
But make them as sponges to soak up your teachings*
For the minds of precocious children we dare not waste.
*Train up a child in the way he should go:
And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
Oh, such captivating concupiscence ...
I am lost to your thrall, your virtue's vassal
You are the perfect impish angel - raw sensuality, incarnate
You are hunger, insatiable and wry, and I your food
I watch you speak, breathe, speak ... phrases matter not
Chili pepper lips part to tempt me, as if in slow-motion
Plump, dewy, spicy-smooth, and salacious - fun-fruits, ripened
Unblemished sugar-cube teeth nip your lower lip and hold it
Mouth corners turn haltingly up in a vexing smile
Eyes sparkling, mischievous, coy, demure
Tugging like a lost puppy at my heart, spirit
Core, attending and rapt ... close, closer, closer still
Your eyes close, (mine stay open - I want to watch, NEED to)
Adoringly, I place a bent index under your mink-soft chin
Gently pull it up to mine ... the chilis part further
You release your sexy nip on them, mouth slowly opening
To the dance of a sweet, pink, bubble-gum quarry inside
It seeks mine out even before our mouths meet
Licks my lips as if ice cream, and they part to taste you
Tenderly, as if unknown, your soft blond tresses fall between
Mixing in our nectarous and esurient feast
Is there any candy yet as sweet ... as compelling and sublime??
Were it not for the life-sustaining needs of the human condition
Or the requirements of responsibility and motivation
I would lose myself - us - forever, in your clasp
In the exquisite, licentious, pure, and carnal enchantment
Of your consummate and delicious mouth
Locked away in the round-tower of your appetites
Slave to the flawless ecstasy that we create ...
With our love ... with our kiss.

Light, defined as electromagnet and;
The radiation of photon particles
Natural visible light with intensity and frequency
The Light wavelength (spectrum / polarization propagation)
Fire / light, is a fiery chemical warming substance
Bioluminescence lights are of sea-creatures glowing
Fireflies are flickering their internal lights at night
Sunlight fuels all green plants with photosynthesis empowering
People pleasure and preen at the beach with sunny sun tanning
Sunlight illuminates Mountain trails for bicycling and trekking
Sunsets have lavender with orange bright beams extending
Solar sunrays light a day of picnic park fun with joyful frolicking
Some of the light spectrum is radio, white light, ultraviolet and x-rays
Infrared is only heat visible and gamma-rays are the most powerful
Small lasers are used in disk drives, printers, and fiber-optics
Fiber-optic networks are a light fast digital information system
TV plasma, liquid crystal displays, LEDs light-emitting diodes gives visuals
These assist our everyday visual optic neural perceptions
Cars have headlights and ships use fog-lights
Light-towers have flood-lights and we use handy flashlights
Tesla and Edison partook in the light bulb’s bright invention
Lewis Latimer and Joseph Nichol invented its carbon filament
This did dispel much of the world’s nighttime darkness
Lightning lights, to reveal charges of negative and positive
Colors of violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red: are hidden in white light
Some colors are viewed when seeing a rainbow over a dewy meadow
What can be possibly seen at the other end of a rainbow?
This, the notes of God’s faithful abatement covenant
Starlight is continually being reflected and refracted
Earth and the Heavens at night are lit, by starry star lights
Great stars are round and renowned and fiery fireballs
They in a balance of great equilibrium
Stars dispersing their photon particles at light speed
"Light speed, “299,792,458 meters per second"
Light, is a part of the equation “E=MC squared”
“Energy,” not made, nor annihilated, yet always in flux

Yes, once created by the Creator
to take a whole bottle of pills
to knowingly give up on life
to jump to your death
just to avoid struggle and strife
to disabuse alcohol
to take a drug over-dose
to voluntary check out of life
to have death's door close
the coward's way out
to just cave in
the coward's way out
suicide is still a sin
God did not give mankind a spirit of fear
God did not give mankind a reason to check out of here
God won't give anyone more than they can possibly withstand
just turn to Him , trust in Him to help you understand
that life is a continuous journey on an unchartered course
just let The Holy Spirit be your life sustaining force
and don't take the coward's way out
