Greek Goddess
Poetic Form: Heptastich

I am
Aphrodite...
yielded from sea lather
and reached the shores of Cyprus on
a scallop's shell, symbol
of womanhood
and birth

I am
Aphrodite...
Homer sourced me as a
girl by Zeus and sea nymph, Dione,
and aphrodisiac
had influenced
my name

I am
Aphrodite...
a cause and effect for
incessant eyes aroused crusade
facing our guarded Mount
Olympus high
above

I am
Aphrodite...
unceasing prayers heard
by mere boldness and a taste test
from each sweeten apple
will direct me
to you

I am
Aphrodite...
petitions in the air
float endlessly, plucked graciously
by ivory doves to
be delivered
to me

I am
Aphrodite...
where I will recognize
you daily upon your first glance
into some looking-glass
beholding my
essence

I am
Aphrodite...
Olympian goddess
of love, beauty, procreation
also, satisfaction,
your every need
answered.

Morality

Moral
development,
standard adolescence,
we are externally controlled
also, trials are judged,
consequences
follows

Moral
adaptation
sensing both personal
and societal involvement
in adulthood supports
reestablish
bygone

Moral
definitives
intricate principles
rules obeyed avoids penalty
substitutes horrible
if it is met
better

Moral
law-and-order
continues through our life,
unpunished lawbreakers create
lawlessness, and mayhem
advantageous
urbane

Moral
circumference,
best helps one's interest
serving others, will further you,
naught based on loyalty
encouragement
reward

Moral
behavior's
when laws vary of rules,
light abstracts versus absolutes
o'er prejudiced thinking,
alternatives
exploit

Moral
complacency
peaceful coexistence
when facial grins excel the glares
good choices existed
self-reliance
attained

Premium Member Dancing Through the Light

The light
Shining inside
Vibrant as the sunshine
Beckoning to souls with sweet grace
Falling across the seas
In gentle songs
Of praise

Laughter
Breaking through rain
In cloudless moments, joy
Breathes soundlessly through the passions
Of lingering hopes, dreams
Rousing heartbeats
Pulsing

The light
Touches the soul
With butterfly kisses
Whispered on the wonderous heart
Who knows to pray with faith
Heeding His still
Small voice

This love
Brings tenderness
Affection amazing
Freeing us to pray with promise
That we will find the truth
Through prayer and
Belief

The light
Dances like fire
Or fireflies twinkling, lit
Across the summer darkness, night
Amid starry moonlight
Enchanting, a
Caress

My God
Lights the pathway
To heaven, where we go
When this life is over, finished
We’ve been faithful servants
Who are going
Back home

The light
Reminds me why
I want to know true love
And faith that is alive, fervent
Praising Him with desire
For the time I’m
With Him

Why root
for underdogs?
Easy. They just don't quit;
odds against them, tremendous, yet...
these tough Rocky Balboas
of the world fight
to win.

Why root
for underdogs?
We see ourselves in them.
When they taste victory, we win.
Their survival instinct
is a treat to
behold.

Why root
for underdogs?
They often surprise, so...
don't be quick to bet against them;
their determination,
surely second...
to none.

Why root
for underdogs?
They roll with the punches;
Davids at war with Goliaths,
at disadvantage, yet...
no fear shown, no...
retreat.

Why root
for underdogs?
The question is why not?
After all, they give us their best!
Their heart is in the fight.
When they lose, they...
still win!

Summer

Summer
The best season
No other can compare
To sunny days and starry nights
That summertime brings forth
It’s so awesome
     Summer

    Summer
How does it sound?
Like drinks poured over ice
The jingle of an ice cream truck
Bees buzzing, waves breaking
Children splashing
    Fireworks

     Summer
How does it look?
Like cloudless skies of blue
The children in line for ice cream
Colorful garden fruits
Family trips
    The beach

     Summer
How does it feel?
Like moist heat on my skin
The sand squishing between my toes
Morning dew on the grass
Cool rain puddles
    Perfect

     Summer
How does it taste?
Like burgers on the grill
Chocolate s’mores and marshmallows
Tropical Popsicles
Cotton candy
     Ice Cream

    Summer
How does it smell?
Like backyard barbecues
Coconut lotion on my skin
Saltwater in the air
Boardwalk goodies
    Fresh Fruit

    Summer
What does it mean?
Family vacations
Great photo opportunities
Beautiful Memories
Fun water play
    Summer

Premium Member Thoughts On Morality

We learn
right from wrong by
the zenith of our youth
but do we learn moral lessons
in the exact way, and
do some learn them
at all?

We show
distaste toward
those whose definitions
of morality might very
well differ from what we
figure to be
correct.

We need
to look beyond
our own realities.
There are children who lack guidance
and some who know only
cruel stings of
abuse.

There are
children who lack
even basic values,
for they witness horrendous acts,
yet harshly we would judge
those kids when they
go bad.

Children
of the streets and
some in the ghettos too;
also priviledged ones who have
no one to look up to -
wild and crazy
they run.

Wicked
they seem. We judge
them by our own standards
of right and wrong. What can be done?
Can we not all agree
at least on one
good rule?

Golden
is the rule which
we must teach today’s youth.
Until we ensure all children
feel love and protected,
society
will fail.

Premium Member Believe All Accusers

Believe
all accusers,
because no one sets out
to intentionally damage
someone's reputation;
assume they're
truthful.

Believe
all accusers.
We must rally around
victims brave enough to speak out
against sexual assault;
any kind of...
abuse.

Believe
all accusers,
no matter the gender.
Really? Guys, too? Oh yes, guys, too.
Any breathing human;
in all shapes and
sizes.

Believe
all accusers
so they don't continue
to suffer in silence; afraid...
to give voice to their plight;
so they don't fall...
silent.

Believe
all accusers;
support fuels their courage,
doubt ensures their resignation;
powerless to evolve
from victims to...
victors.

It Happens

It sucks...
when your owie
remains disregarded
because your adhesive band-aid
decides to stuck itself
obstinately
mid tries,

It sucks...
when the lights to
your preferred restaurant
flicker's off when you all arrive
and its sign says open
daily twenty
three hours,

It sucks...
when our autos
license plates custom-made
said, "HIS" and "HERS" and after our
divorce, she then changed it
so now it reads,
"WAS HIS",

It sucks...
when I go to
the zoo to throw peanuts
to the elephants to feed them
but because of my size
they throw peanuts
at me,

It sucks...
when I was at
the airport to buy a
plane ticket for a noontime flight
she says, "Is that twelve noon?"
I said, "No, it's...
two noon?!?!?"

Ugh!

Fragile Is Life

fragile
the tiny egg
laid on a milkweed leaf
devoured by a hungry lizard
 deprived of becoming
a butterfly
Life ends

fragile
the butterfly
sipping from a pink rose
becomes the feast for a sparrow
 Monarch devoured in flight
That's the law of
Nature

fragile
the rose petals
cut for a crystal vase
withered and brittle, they tumble
sweet fragrance lingers on
 their heads drooping
in death

fragile
the crystal vase
lies shattered on the tiles
thrown by the heart that was betrayed
prismed shards in sunlight
will hold bouquets
no more

fragile
the heart betrayed
broken from a lost love
aching for what was beautiful
but has fallen apart
emotional
turmoil

fragile
the thing called love
oft' claims us by surprise
lifting us to great zenith height
then drops us in free fall
A risk we take
for love
