The Fear of the Night
Startled by a wet and chilly touch to her thigh
Hannah frightfully opened her eyes
With only her eyes she looked to the left and then to the right
While noticing on the clock, that is was only eleven thirty at night
Only her breathing she could hear
No unusual sounds or loved ones that she held so dear
There it was again!
As anxiety over took her body while her mind trying to go insane
Hannah thoughts went to another dimension of what ifs
It could be this or it could be that as her mind started to shift
Nothing she knew compared to this feeling
As she stilled her eyes toward the ceiling
Then, her sheets slowly proceeded to move towards the front of the bed
She bravely reached her arm to the small light above her head
It seemed like a lifetime until her finger tips felt the dangling chain
The weight of the pull was harder to sustain
The brightness of the light overcame her vision as she blinked several times
Dots of stars flashed before her as she finally regained her normal sight
What to do? She never thought this through.
Should she sit up or even try to move?
The bed began to rise and she decided quickly to get out of her room
All she knows is that, she is going to get her broom!
Making a dash from the bed to the door
She tripped on the rug and fell to the floor
Looking up towards the bed she breathes with relief
The small mountain did not flinch as she started to creep
Through her bedroom door to the hall closet
On her hands and knees she began to sweat
The door was already ajar as her heart slowed to a calm
She stood to her feet and grabbed the broom tightly around her palm
An intensity of control moved through every vein
This is her home, her domain!
Quickly to her room raising the broom like a sword
She suddenly heard a whimper in the air so fragile she could not ignore
Looking around she wondered, where this voice of help was coming from
The sheets began to sway back and forth, louder the cry hummed
She grabbed the sheets and threw them in the air
And laughed when she realized what made her so scared
A hairy creature he was
From top to bottom in his cute little pajamas
What was this that touched her thigh so wet and so cold?
Would you believe, her sweet little puppy dogs black nose!
AM I SUPPOSED TO?
Am I supposed to be getting something from all this heartache and pain?
Am I supposed to drown myself in all this un-needed rain?
Am I supposed to go insane or walk away with my head held high?
Am I supposed to disc you now- Tell you, I love you and without you, I would surely die?
Am I supposed to walk away and not look back- or-
Am I supposed to continue to take your opposition?
Am I supposed to take you back into my arms- and not care- for all you have done?
Am I supposed to tell you nothing else matters- but you and me?
And without you, I would surely cry-
Am I supposed to turn a blind eye and pretend everything is all right?
Am I supposed to continue to welcome the heartache and strife?
Am I supposed to take my heart, lock it away; with the hope that someone honest and loving will find it one day?
Am I supposed to hibernate until that time arrives?
Through the storms- through the sunshine- through the nights- and all through the morns-
Am I to listen to more of your lies- to your solemn promise- to your alibis?
-OR-
Am I supposed to learn something from all of this?
Take it to my bosom, store it for future use-
So, one day, I may know true happiness- Am I?
Imperfect Love

I stopped for a moment, my eyes had fallen in a trance
for him, to take a whim, it made my heart dance
So romantic, I don't think, I could explain
touching him, skin to skin, made me go insane.
I took him into my arms, and now he's mine forever
my heartbeat felt complete, and I shall leave him never
He is my one and only, soulmate from the stars
he took me and set me free, healing my past scars.
I hope you find yours, a one in million friend
for it is rare, perfect love to share, until the very end
And by perfection, it's perfect imperfection
a long road, a shared load, without any direction.

With a smile i received your call,
As your face i tried to recall,
For not a few days it has been,
That your face i have seen,
For several weeks it has been,
And probably several months it has been,
Since i last saw your face my beloved.
Your voice i had almost forgotten,
You almost had me shaken,
For your lovely voice was saying,
"My beloved, how have you been?",
I found out i was swaying,
For my knees had suddenly weakened,
And i sat down to avoid falling.
As i write this, i can barely recall,
What my beloved said during the call,
As all i recall, is trying not to fall
For just the mere thought about my beloved,
Just the mention of your name,
Leaves me helplessly lame,
And in dire need of your love.
Of late i think i might go insane,
Because it is very hard to stay sane,
For am even counting down to the last minute,
As i eagerly await our proposed date,
When we shall dine and dance,
When i can finally see your face,
Oh, how i miss you my beloved

I Don’t Got a Dime
Author Dana Redricks
September 14, 2014
I don’t got a dime to my name
Standing in the rain.
I got problems heavy on the brain,
Going through the motion about
To go insane.
I can’t stand the pain.
I don’t got a dime to my name.
I’m a loss words of fame.
So I’m standing in the rain.
With a pocket pull of lent, and
I got to pay the rent.
Money come, and money goes,
But I can’t watch that cash flow.
I don’t have no place to go, and I don’t
Feel like putting on a show.
I need money don’t you know.
Trying to hussle, and flow.
I got to get grind on for show.
Baby don’t you know.
It’s all about hussle , and flow.
Time passes and I'm glued to the monitor,
Swiping articles on a greased up screen,
Some are absurd, some are obscene,
But how do I care,
As it sits on the lap I’m its janitor.
Acting like a sane handler,
But things go insane quickly,
With multiple tabs open how sickly,
I want to read them all.
The vital cog is I never go in-cog,
And the days I have missed the jog,
Blamed it all on the smog.
Getting the results but the process is getting wayward,
Trying to prohibit procrastinating profusely,
But my luck’s out of favor.
I’m in the danger of a mighty fall
My eyes are watering down,
While I mow the lawn
The time passes and I reminisce
I have traversed many dawns.
vacuous
golden sun rises
in the east
as it was
so it will be, as it goes
in designed orbit
nearer now
the earth moves to warmth
chill of night
early morn
dissipates as the earth spins
round vacuously
Vacuous--mindless
vacuously--mindlessly
not the mathematical meaning for those who understand math/science. LOL..
I know the earth spins around the sun, the earth and sun go in an orbit as they go in space. It all is so confusing. We are doing so much spinning how do we not go insane from the motion?
When I think of all of this, I think about the song "It Took A Miracle".
The smell of the sage Mom always puts into turkey stuffing
Still makes my taste buds go insane with delicious puffing.
Thanksgiving would not be complete without the cinnamon and sugar crust
Rolled out to perfection, and baked with every bit of fuss.
The table is set with a cloth tablecloth, reserved for special days.
We have wiped down every surface spotless, until we are crazed.
Potato casserole, and corn pudding are set to come out of the oven together.
If we could have a tiny bit of snow, we would be grateful for the sweet weather.
Sister and I are flitting and fluttering around the table, setting forks in place.
The cousins are coming from two directions, we know for them it’s a race.
Our room is all cleaned up, so we can park ourselves and our cousins in there.
This was in the sixties, when adults did not let children linger or stare.
It is 1960 and our cousin has not turned into a mean girl yet.
We very much love her, and share her, like she is a pet.
Our mother calls us to the kitchen and we agree to take care of the little ones.
She thinks it is a chore, but it is actually all kinds of fun.
The hot rolls and biscuits come out the second the relatives arrive.
There is laughter and hugging, and we all seem to thrive.
But first the blessing, which our mother imparts in the very best way.
I can remember this Thanksgiving in so many smells and sights of the day.

Falling for you
I can't say my life's been easy,
one thing has helped me get through
from cries in the night to feeling alright
was my dream of me finding you
Lost and alone was my journey,
fruitless my searching for you...
when you walked in, I felt my life begin,
I knew I'd be falling for you
Chorus
I...cant... believe that you're here,
I just love everything that you do!
The spark in your smile, makes my life worthwhile
and I know that I'm falling for you!
It's...true...I love what you do,
and I can't believe that you are here!
You gave up the dance, for a shot at romance
and I know that I'm falling for you,
yeah, I'm tripping and falling for you!
I found myself in Buenos Aires,
I'm not really sure just why,
You got on the train, I thought I'd go insane
I knew I'd be falling for you
We got off at the same station,
we walked to Teatro Colon*,
You disappeared but my vision stayed clear,
I knew I was falling for you
Chorus
I...cant... believe that you're here,
I just love everything that you do!
I was just one of the thousands...
who saw you in your ballet shoes,
You leapt on the stage, and my heart flipped the page
and I knew I was falling for you!
I saw you after the show...
seems... you were waiting for someone,
when I called out your name, things were never the same
because you too, knew I was the one.
Chorus
I...can't... believe that you're here,
I just love everything that you do!
The spark in your smile, makes my life worthwhile
and I know that I'm falling for you!
It's...true...I love what you do,
and I can't believe that you are here!
You gave up the dance, for a shot at romance
and I know that I'm falling for you,
yeah, I'm tripping and falling for you!
yeah, I'm tripping and falling for you!
yeah, I'm tripping and falling for you!
repeat and fade!

* Teatro Colon (Tay- at- tro, Co-lone)
Ballet and opera house in Buenos Aires
O audio, antennae.
Activate. Agonize.
O bad seed, thy bad penny.
Aim right between their eyes.
Dark fire, burn hot in my brain.
Through my veins break free.
Driver, time to go insane.
Straight into the sea.
Ring of fairies, thy best song.
Where do we belong?
Where the vibrations are strong!
Wargods, strike thy gong!
Wind atop the drear sheer cliff?
Do not dare to climb.
Charon Boatman, pole thy skiff!
Trifle, all of time...
Falcon, scream as victor!
Thy talons sharpen well!
Physician, thy rictor.
O heaven, send for hell.
Rain down on me, liquid light.
Languid as young love.
Harpy, sacred is thy flight!
Watch o'er from above!
Thought-flame, spark with vigor.
Synapses, goals to meet.
Flicker as you figure.
High holy is thy heat.
Ghast, gnash teeth and mighty fast.
Terrify thy foe.
Contender, to come in last?
Golem, time to go...
