Amazing Grace Inspired
Amazing grace travels soul trails through wind and rain –
When brittle stars shatter with love exploding
False walls of lies, choices and self-defenses, imploding -
Amid the rubble and the ruins of self- inflicted pain.
Confronted by jagged jaws of swirling revenge
Mercy sweeps away faceless bitterness;
Amazing wings beat in the rhythm of tenderness
Rising up from tones of pale platinum grey guilt to avenge.
How can this be – found - then called…beloved one?
Hidden tears of disbelief – overwhelmed – in elation;
Wonder stands in awe at the hands of redeeming creation
All consuming gratitude on fallen knees – disgrace undone.
How can this heart clothed in naked shades of shame -
Not stand eyes down before eyes of majesty -
Yet gathered in - begged not to flee for lies of fantasy -
Cherished in hypnotic loveliness - waking from crushing blame.
A thousand pieces of brokenness repaired by one word
Shards of regret -splintered fragments - fit perfectly again
Seamless mended seams not seen – worthless treasure regained;
Amazing grace – hair raising joy in sweet moments named absurd.

I understood that you were lost
on that day that our paths crossed
The clock tick tocked I knew not why
I wanted to talk but the time flew by
Cloaked in invisibility I was your ghost
A unknown guest you were my host
I felt your heart beat in time and space
A growing desire behind a lovely face
A soulful apparition powers to few
I could not reveal the truth to you
Illusion like fog will eventually grow thin
Perhaps you will know the beauty within
One day the right person will take your hand
But the warrior within is yours to command
Everything unfolds this life’s yours to steer
If you want to find strength look in the mirror
Being a passing spirit I can’t offer you much
I’m bound by limitations we can never touch
So when you fall asleep and heavy eyes close
Feel confidence rise from your head to your toes
Those who were not there might never see
the woman within that has the power to be
Strong triumphant beautiful and great
a miracle a teacher a master of her own fate!

Who are you to look upon I as if I can fit into the pages of a book?
As if one glance can fit this eternal ocean right in its nook?
As if I can be bounded up in the cover
Tightened by a string, escorted by punctuation, while I wait for your words to be able to sing.
Who are you to label me?
As if I can be captured by your words. My name gets choked up in vocals, as I pull on the chords.
I am who I am, nothing less
I am not defined by your constructed tests
I am the fire in you soul, the beat in your chest
I am greater than your law, I stand above the rest
You will address me as such
Night Fantasies - As moonlight blankets us in passion
Crystallized moon beams
Fractured light of endless desire
Shimmer around you as our eyes meet
Beneath a canopy of hazy luminance
Pearl buttons glisten as fingers touch
Your smile grants permission
Leaving me breathless
Serenity of the night serenades
Our hearts beat in silent yearnings
Lips find your flesh pure
Your neck sweet of perfumed nectar
A sultry sigh floats wispily to the misty heavens
As we sit entwined neath barren branch silhouettes
Exploring each other amidst swirling winds
A foggy shroud lingers silently
Desolate this rendezvous, hidden hillside
Your dark cloak drapes me, floating quietly
Mysterious against this crushed velvet sky
As beauty falls like summer rain,
Drenching my sight with you
Entering the realm of my longings
A full moon stares down
Happily enchanted by our movements
As the slumbering horizon beckons
And still I gaze upward at your charm
“I love you” I sough, feeling every pulsation of affection
Blissfully seeking the depth of the evening
You peer down through hypnotic lashes
Harmonic moans sing in a sensual duet
Echoing through tree lined shadows
Increasing in tempo, you fall to my lips
Tongues dance to the melodic rapture
Fevered vibrations rhythmically sway
Clutching my arms, arching auras lift
Your hair like chocolate ribbons flowing
A shooting star trails your breathless sighs
Euphoric fuses ignite within, exploding
Illuminating your smile, your face
I rush to meet you, simultaneous sensations
Quivering stardust ecstasy shines
Collapsing into my loving arms
As moonlight blankets us in passion

And the cemetery was still and serene
A palette of muted greens, browns, tans and warm gray scene
Fence-post with barbed wire surrounds the garden
Seashells and caliza, sage brush, cactus, and mesquite trees harden
Tall cold stones erect sentries
Standing on sacred ground granting entry
In the garden of seashells and sage brush
A cemetery of generations of families
Grandmothers and grandfathers
Their parents and family before them
Tugging at our memories
Whispering shadows of their secrets
All lie with crowns of stones
As their names are etched on marble stones
While others with ceramic photographs of the dearly departed
So they, won’t be forgotten
All with stories to tell
My head down with sadness
My heart skips a beat in my chest
I stand and look at the headstone of my once beautiful grandmother
And lay a bouquet of red roses at the feet of the stone
I kneel and clean the surroundings of weeds that have sprang up
And dust of the ceramic photograph
Wistful thinking
Her smile with a flicker of spark in her eyes
All the good times we used to have
She taught me not to be afraid,
To drive her white 1958 Impala
And the cemetery was still and serene
I know it’s an empty vessel that lay in the sandstone
As her soul grew wings long ago
And in heaven she’s watching over all she has left behind

Spiritually Fulfilled
Gazing at the sky
Spiritually fulfilled
Cherished memories
If my thirst for love, I could quench
my heart would beat in rhythmic sound
and not be saddened, torn in wrench
Happiness would be joy unbound
Hunger to be wanted, sated
if my thirst for love, I could quench.
For eons of time I've waited
Lonely wallflower on a bench
Sorrowful tears, my clothes in drench.
Embers would glow in my heart's fire
if my thirst for love, I could quench.
At last I'd be filled with desire
Where is the one of whom I dream
To his love, I shall ever clench.
I'd search each silvery moonbeam
If my thirst for love, I could quench

I don't understand it
And I never understood it
How vehement disdain can beat in the chest
And how vitriol can dance in the mind with unrest
The cold, blank stares that quickly turn to a fake smile when I turn and our eyes meet
Too late, that crooked smile can't disguise the dark, desolate eyes that bitterly speak
Yes. They speak to me in ways I can no longer ignore
Their frigidity penetrates my warm heart; my heart feels, so it knows how they abhor
Why? But how could this be the reality?
When I thought we were loving friends and family
Reality, what a painful and unwelcome truth to live
And all because love is what I wanted to receive and give
I never understood it
And never will I understand it
Oh Lord my God,
Thou art my rock and sod.
Forever in Thee will I abide.
I will hold nothing back; never hide.
I am forever on Thy side.
So far, it’s been a rough ride,
Yet I see how Thou hast shaped me,
As for Thee I have died.
Now with Thy love in me,
Thou art my only sight.
Thou art forever eternal, holding me tight.
I know I’ll be alright, alright!
The seasons pass through me,
But Thou dost shelter my soul from the misery.
Thou dost open up my heart and spirit,
Giving me thy holy love and grace each minute.
I can’t walk away from, but only with Thee,
For by Thy life, Thou art all I know to do.
I know that all Thou sayest, is true.
What I see from Thee, is beauty and truth.
Thou hast made me new, thanks be to Thee.
I am a fighter, growing strong and brighter!
My soul is being washed whiter, in thy blood,
And Thou wilt always give me enough.
Thank Thee for Thy holy love.
Now I hear Thy beat in my heart,
And I know Thou wilt always impart,
Thy blessings, and works of art.
Thou hast power to make Satan depart.
I am Thine Lord, Thou hast my word.
Not only that, but my actions too, I’ll be true.
Thou art my alright, I'm alright!
If I called your name
(Our hearts beat in time)

If I called your name
Into the big, wild Universe
Would you hear it, darling?
Would you hear my voice?
Our connection is timeless
Our souls are infinite and divine
I love you and you love me
Our hearts beat in time
Despite the miles and timezones
Despite everything under and over
Bridges and storms
And sorrows
We will share our moments
We will survive and thrive
Into the future but enjoying
Our now... our present... our gift...
If I called your name
Standing on mountaintops
Or under the ocean's depths
Communicating beyond space
Would you feel it, honey?
Would you know it, angel?
For we are one heart
Beating over timezones
We are one soul
Sharing this one lifeline
Across lifetimes
Until we become starbursts
Our connection is timeless
Our souls are infinite and divine
I love you and you love me
Our hearts beat in time
