Invitee Poems | Examples

One Final Truth: The Prologue

dear readers
let me be an invitee to read these files
about the same place where you live but
chose to live in complete denial

don't be a traitor, don't ignore the cries
this place gave you oxygen, water, air and
every source meant for your survival
even in the adversity of times

dear readers
our house is on fire, the ice is melting
you're breathing smoke, and million species at risk
and each day a new revelation in these files

the man who drink champagne after
signing deals that harm your land
he lives in a palace built by his greed
while the future generations search for their place

Jane, my former fellow-worker friend, who lives in Carmel-By-The-Sea, and had been visited by many of us from work.

Gleaning Clint as a third invitee at His Hog's Breath Cafe/Tavern, thanks to Jane<--impetus of my 114 miles (228 miles in total, down/up) drive from my San Francisco home, with the added feature, aside from Clint, is California's central coastline drive ... ala incredible folks.

It's been some time since the store episode/trapped-i/epic-sword, in-back at home recovering.

My phone rang during days that it did, of horrid prices and matching service, hmm--half a second or half a century.

Anyhow, tis Jane calling for a special invite to The Grand as her creative date/Clint cancelled last minute as he found her to be his perfect catch at 21 ... to a catch 22, so the lamb pulled out of the bag and clawed me.

Halloween: a Missing Guest

We had an invitee, an alien, from the dead,
Who preferred to eat in parties just yellow bread
And drink tea, yet painted with the colour of red,
On wet floors, assuming he is struggling with flood.

It was a cautionary trip; he came at night,
While vampires were haunting in bowers for a bite;
He did tread alone knowing vampires’ trickery,
Singing from back to front, "…, Dickory, Hickory”.

Not him but an owl at midnight came to our house
With the news of abduction, disguised as a mouse;
My Dad got paralyzed; Mom stood just stupefied
At the climax of Halloween, we felt humified.

Ah, we lost our guest and our grand feasting did rot;
Diabolical spirits furled our feast with a dot.

A Mermaid's water spirit lives inside the sea
she's a hidden pearl of beauty and a scree
Captains sell their souls
for all that they extole
Mermaids are exquisite, a mythic invitee
with voices full of lure and pliable decree

Sea turtles are reptiles that swim very smart
they own a three or four chambered heart
Caretta caretta
and mermaid Loretta
swimming through the corals never quite apart
both are considered a truesome work of art.

The End.

It's All In the Timing

quatrain

Clearly put - the star was up to no good.
Musicians have an innate sense of time.
The guests, notwithstanding, all understood
their host - a conductor well-past his prime.

Novice performers, the host chose just three
for the opening event of the night.
His niece, as it happened, was one invitee;
he could still orchestrate who’s in the limelight.

While each one of the fledgling young trio
aced their solo in the gateway prelude,
the simply grand - violin virtuoso
excelled in his mellifluous etude.

Not wanting to move on his host and niece,
the star asked for an encore from her flute.
Would she segue into his final piece?
(in the vernacular of music’s astute).

The auspiciousness of the occasion
would exalt any young lady to conceit.
With tempo way fast for the transition;
it was clear she had been swept off her feet.

Limerick crochetés: Once Angela signed pact with Doctor Jeckel

Once Angela signed pact with Doctor Jeckel
Needed urgent help her kitchen all pell-mell
	In far-off torn country
	People turned refugee
By turnip-head Mephistopheles in Hell

Angela’s wise friend Faust told her to toll bell
To tell the world how much her heart bled with knell
She’ll take in all who flee
	Bitten by bee or flea
Life-jackets galore Mephisto jumped to sell

In Mid-Land-Sea punctured floats jackets did spell
Drowned refugee yells worse than arrows Will’ Tell
	Angie slurped sea-green tea
	With Jeckel invitee
While survivors charged through blockades raising Hell

If Angela dug an underground Chunnel
From her kitchen to Mephisto-lands un-well
	Käse-Kuchen* Mummy
	Made by hands refugee
To boost her economy – Angela! Hail!

*Käse-Kuchen: German for cheese cake

The Guest To Come

when for breakfast the frost bites
into apple’s juicy crunch
eyes will turn to coloured sights
as winter turns from a mere hunch
to an invitee to come to lunch
