I don’t mind the cold
If it isn’t extreme,
But since I am old,
Freezing temps sometimes seem
Like they’re too much to take
When I’m walking outside,
So for sanity’s sake,
I let age be my guide.
Just like Covid’s first weeks,
At a nice rapid pace,
I perfect my techniques
For an in-my-home race.
No opponents compete
So the win will be mine.
In 900 square feet,
I am certain to shine.
Friends have moved to a clime
Where the cold doesn’t go.
They may find it sublime
But for me, it’s a NO!
For the freeze will not last;
It will lose its steel grip
And the iciest blast
Beats humidity’s drip.
Dare I say
you awaken
the b e a s t
in me, and how!
Your b e g u i l i n g charm
tempts me to
madness!
The warmth...
your smile
could t h a w out
iciest
of hearts; it did mine!
The f i r e in your eyes does
glow...
brighter than the sun!

Falling out of the cage I left behind,
Running from the bottomless pit I call my mind.
Cool crisp wind shakes the floor beneath,
Hot gasps for fresh air leave an imagination so deep.
If I look back, I may feel the iciest burn.
If I look back, I may never return.
The color drains from my fingers in this lost land.
The only time it was alive was when you held my hand.
Watch out for the eerie man,
He will wreck you more than anyone can.
Spiral out of dizziness before you can be seen,
Close your eyes as tight as you can and hope it is all a dream.
On your knees, you tremble and plead.
Behind you appears the shadow of man's greed.
The second before the light bursts through and leaves you to die,
Those eyes open up and in a cold bed you lie.
I can swim through the iciest of waters;
The dolphins hunt with me,
Then we part ways
and feast on our catch;
The vision the land dwellers have amuses me,
Their picture is hopelessly flawed;
We don't have the tail of a fish,
Just the ability to swim hard and strong;
Our eyes see in the deep dark depths
Our voices sing with the waves;
The rhythm of the darkness warns the sailors
'Beware of Mermaids'.
Cupids arrow,
a true delight of all lovers,
Cupids arrow,
an empty heart it will ignite,
sparking the passion and desire,
rekindling the iciest fire,
Cupids arrow.

Today I had to say goodbye to two dear old friends of mine.
We’ve been through so many things together.
We’ve hopped fences, ran from police, climbed mountains and ran down steep slopes.
We’ve been through the rain together and we’ve relaxed in the summertime sun.
I’ve been tied to them and them to me for many days.
We’ve both been worn down as the time passes but we’ve also broken in and have been
accustomed to the elements that we must continue through in order to wander upon the
earths’ soil for another transition of sunlight.
These are my black Dwayne Wade Converse sneakers! They have been with me for more
moments than I will ever remember. I say goodbye to my dear old friends and I send much
appreciation for helping me stay on my feet even in the iciest of situations!
the smokey room engulfs my sorrow
with a heavy heart i forget tommorrow
before it has even begun
the lies run black, pain runs deep
dirty tears run down my cheek
as i fight for the respect i'd once won
with fury greater than a winter storm
i turned the iciest heart warm
but not without paying its toll
the hot intensity i brought
undoubtedly begot
an emptiness inside my own soul
