Blood ,Sweat and Tears

Blood, sweat and tears
All in the name of eliminating my fears
Blood, sweat and tears
Just to find myself inside a Mercedes, getting an ego boost when I shift gears
Blood, sweat and tears
Creating a steel Armour in the form of riches
Ensuring the arrows of poverty don't pierce

It will be blood, sweat and tears till when?
My pains have outweighed my gains
What a heavy burden for my patience
They say blessings come as heavy rains
But it's been a dry season
As if an evil deity reigns
Hard to succeed, as if becoming the next king is forbidden like we living in a Herod type reign
But it's blood, sweat and tears till the gold appears

Destiny says I cannot endure my pain in vain
I know grace so I'll endure
On the days I fall short
Appreciation of the blessings I can count will be the cure

RESOLVED CONTROVERSY

         the ends justify the means
it is not in Machiavelli's The Prince
but it appears in Ovideo's Herod

Premium MemberHoly Innocents

Like a termite eating willow oak, Herod felt empty.
Fear of the threat of dethroning Brim-filed abundantly
Could a little lamb invade the den of a lewd lion?
Could a rod of reed face the force of a pole of iron?

Like a mad monkey, Herod scattered fragile eggs and nests.
Troopers cut kids to pieces, pulling them from mothers' breasts.
Weeping and wailing tore the veils of the night of Ramah.
Who could consent to be consoled by Covert’s crude drama?

Wanting to know you, the unknown hero, they were born
Before seeing their hero face-to-face soon they were gone.
Had they seen you, their friend, wouldn't they have reviled Herod?
Was this why the coward, like a wounded jackal, worried?

Little humans, destined for eternity, were slaughtered
Wasn't this why roots and routes of law to love got altered?

Premium MemberThe Magi

Puzzles filled the paths of the Magi. Each stone was a gem.
Every gleam and nurture of nature shone like Bethlehem.
Each ray of sun and drop of shower, they gladly explored.
Could they quench their thirst with anyone except their own lord?

Could Herod hide the spark of untruth in his tongue for long?
Despite himself, the good news of Jesus in him was strong.
Did he know that ending your life would end his life as well?
The Scriptures and sciences seemed to him like souls of hell.

The earth, air, water, fire, and sky merged with your physique.
Walking in Abba's ways was, for you, a secret unique.
From dust to dust, the soul of the cosmos is a sole whole.
You held to human ways while following the Father's goal.

The heavens and the earth met under a distinct ceiling.
The rich and poor, Jews and gentiles, merged into your being.

Premium MemberHerod Heard Of Jesus

Antipas was one of many heirs of Herod the Great
Morally and civilly, he had fallen from his state.
His kingdom, a collapsed castle, he couldn't reinstate.
Sinning with brother's wife, shamelessness had become his fate.

Like raindrops on a bison, did John's censures sadden him?
Like venom, the wrath of Herodias filled her to brim.
The extant of Baptist, she thought, like a twig she should trim
Didn't she, as a queen, have the right to amuse her whim?

By the fame of Jesus as though life-threat, Herod baffled.
His human and animal instincts between them battled.
Curiousness and qualm, like flatware, within him rattled
Has John resurrected? Physique and Psyche fell fear-grappled

Does the sun fear the darkness? Jesus fulfilled his mission.
To build his realm of love, did he need Herod's permission?

Brutal Calvary

That time when Jesus walked among men
has long passed, only faint images remain;
and the curious crowds followed Him everywhere:
they heard a wisdom from the mouth of dare!

Herod was a savage: the king of Jerusalem;
too jealous he was of the humble Messiah
who taught miserable men the beautiful truth:
the holiest man that ever lived was Abraham!

Christ paved the smooth way of righteousness,
He embraced all leaving not a soul to wonder;
they listened and felt divine love in plain words...
the Pharasies gnashed their teeth showing fear!

Walking barefoot on spikey stones made Christ bleed accasionlly,
they weren't kind to the Savior who dragged the heavy cross;
the red blood dripping from His crown was mixed with tears....
He fell three tim, then Simon carried His cross to brutal Calvary!

Az Salome's dance
          front
         Herod
           she
With hern mitts up
        sinuous
   with seductive
      Hern firm
      Petitioned
         mine

    I breathed in
         Deep

        Shook

The Manger

Remember the wise men
Whom King Herod sent
To find Baby Jesus
To see where He went

They followed the star
By night and by day
Their journey seemed endless
But on task they remained

The power possessed
By one little Man
A baby so mighty
No One
Could With Stand

The Wise Men they came
And worshipped the Baby
They knelt down before Him
The Gifts there they laid

Frankincense
Gold
And Myrrh
Were brought forth
Royalty began
In the Manger
Our Lord

Born in a Manger
No room in the Inn
All Jesus needed
Was a place to begin

AGES

AGES

Three wise men
Were not kings
But Herod-sent

Three musketeers
Were four, not three
But one for all
And all for one

Blyton’s famous five
Including the dog
Had kids’ adventures
That were popular
All good in the end

Premium MemberDesperate Hope

In Old Testament times,
it was common practice by
some religions to offer their
babies to their idol gods.

Although they failed to heed
God's commands, Israel also
practiced this heathen ritual.

Even so, when King Herod ordered the
slaughtering of babies in Bethlehem,
it was his HOPE, a DESPERATE one no less,
that his kingdom would not be overthrown
by Jesus. Moreover, his 'over-the-top' display
of wickedness and massive exercise of cruelty
were no match to halt the inevitable gift of God
to the world.

Herod's kingdom, built on selfishness and
embraced in wickedness, would prove futile
in its brutality. God was introducing 'A New HOPE'
DESPERATELY desired in a world ruled by tyrants.

Why Questioning This Life

Why questioning this life?
When I see some evil people
Bombing innocent children in Palestine
I remember about King Herod
When he sent some military to terminate
innocent boys of two years old.
I then ask , "Why quick death ?"
Why their lives were too short on earth?

Why questioning this life?
When I walk around
some African villages
and meet some very old folks
who are above hundred
and thirty years
and keep praying to die.
I then ask ," Why life?"
What did they do to live
so long in the World?

Why questioning this life?
Many people always sing ,
" life is too short."
some people are always praying
to God to make them rest
When they live so long.

Premium MemberJohn, the Baptist

John, the Baptist- baptised people in the Jordan River,
Jesus said, the holy spirit came to him as a dove;
to think about John, the preacher, the saint makes me quiver,
imagine God giving this man the power of his love.
John was a preacher in the Jordan River area,
he was a prophet of God for all faiths-  showing the way;
come on Saturday, Sunday or any day feria,
even unbelievers saw his baptism's as a gateway.
Sadly, John was sentenced to death by King Herod, the Great,
and he was beheaded, oh such fear of a preaching man;
John's birth and death honored by Christians for his life and fate ...
I pray to go the Jordan River where it all began.

Premium MemberJohn the Baptist

In the spirit of Elijah, John appeared on the scene,
Preaching that they should repent of sin, "Come sinners, get clean".
He baptized in the Jordan those who confessed their sin,
And called out the self-righteous for their hard hearts within.

John had a mission: to prepare the way for Messiah.
To some he seemed a prophet, to others a pariah.
His clothing was strange - a tunic made up of camel's hair,
And he dined on locusts and wild honey - such meager fare.

Meeting Jesus at the Jordan, John baptized Him one day.
"This is My beloved Son," he heard God clearly say.
King Herod didn't like John much and had him arrested.
Then Salome danced her best, and John's head was requested.

Sodom and Gomorrah
There is nothing at all today that remains
Of those two sinful cities that once stood on the plain.
When God vent his wrath upon Sodom and Gomorrah,
They quickly went from here today to gone tomorrow,
And all that poor Lot got was some salt for his pains.

Herod and Salome
Herod's lust for Salome a stepfather's exceeded,
But when he offered to pay her to dance, she acceded.
She didn't ask for gold, instead,
She wanted John the Baptist's head,
And that seventh veil was all the inducement horny Herod needed.

Samson and Delilah
When Delilah learned, to his despair,
That Samson's strength lay in his hair,
She got him drunk, he fell asleep,
And then she sheared him like a sheep.
Some secrets are best to keep and not to share.
