Because death is the only thing that could have ever kept him from you. ~Ally Carter
midnight thunderstorm
the low rumble of thunder~
our bed half empty
birth me a sunrise
yellow rays that bring new hope~
banish grief and gloom
Love, like dead parents
leaves when you least expect it
orphaning young hearts.
Graveyard in the rain,
all the forgotten crosses
are learning to swim.
He met me in dream
I found my face wet with tears
Departed father
The wake of the storm...
My known world razed to the ground.
The rubble, my life.
Seeing flamingoes
can lighten my grieving heart
for a few moments
Eyes closed in protest—
tears blurred the leaving moment
I dared not witness.
neon flickers pink,
cherry blossoms broken glass——
I drank the false moon.

Sorrow's heavy cloak,
Silent tears on shadowed cheeks,
Heart remembers loss.

I map empty rooms,
marking them with your absence—
an atlas of loss.
The rain is of God,
watering his divine love;
hydrating all life:-
Evaporating,
God's rain ascends heavenly;
condensding to earth:-
Raining tears of grief,
always, via God, become
healing tears of joy:-
Gray skies, silent tears,
Empty chair, a whispered name,
Memory's cold stone.
