Gloam Poems

Back Against The Sea

Now and then the ocean is a blur
in footprints so quickly nothing, spurred

against that wild channeling —
God, she took my memory,

her baggy tides overrun,
seaweed returned in the surf, serendipitous stun,

How to follow you in your deep sea tomb —
Sometimes I breathe in water to breathe in you,

the gray ocean like a rod —
my prayers stopped time, God, God —

there floating within the sea fog's gloam,
the buoys, and a girl's cheeks that froze.

Tears of the Forest

The trees remember what the axe forgets.
The mirth of lovers romping on the loam.
The light that filtered through in golden nets,
and beasts that roamed for shelter in the gloam.

A broken branch still weeps for a birdsong.
Its tears of sap, the proof of unseen scars,
that cling to echoes hoping to prolong,
a splintered life among the fallen stars.

The oak that watched the centuries pass by,
now chopped in grief no landscape should endure.
The magpies’ songs sound as a craving cry.
Yet, their sad thrill affords a scant succour.

The chainsaws wailed the way sad mothers moaned.
while sawdust stacked up high like guilt disowned.

Premium MemberHow I Look

I see how I look inside out,
not how I look outside in.
My Amtrak races between mountains
and rivers, my traces, my inner spaces,
my dawnings, my inner longings.

I see how I look inside out,
not how I look outside in.
I leaf through fading pages
of crumbling books bound
with passion strings,
broken by wounded fissures
of regret.

I see how I look inside out,
not how I look outside in.
Others declare me a man or fool,
perhaps the father they never knew,
perhaps the boss who fired them,
or just the impostor they always hated.

I see how I look inside out,
not how I look outside in.
I slowly abandon their puzzling
projectiles, their momentary mocks.
Such a child am I, even the petals
of new love go unseen.

I see how I look inside out,
not how I look outside in.
I take the long way alone,
my feet heavy with clay,
I wander the deep gloam,
my mortal vessel, my only home.
There is luminous grass beyond.
There I will rest my head in
the resplendence and comprehend
that inside and outside
                      are just a revolving door.

To wear a mask

Upon this mortal stage, we don our guise,
In silken threads of smiles benevolènt made;
The world doth crave a face, a grand disguise,
Yet in its charm, sweet innocence is frayed.
The mask, a boon, yet laced with bitter draught,
A poison's kiss that courses 'neath the skin;
For every jest, a mournful truth is wrought,
In shadowed depths where silent sorrows spin.
With orbs like lamps that flicker through the gloam,
We dance upon the thorns of Fate's cruel jest,
To play our part, to leave the heart asfoam,
To sip the deadly brew whilst sore possess'd.
Thus in this play, we find both joy and bane,
For though we wear the mask, the soul shall wane.

Into the edge of adrift
time shrinks as the glowing
spectrum pans and shifts
i want to feel friendly with
the screen again
i want to feel the fuzzy static
embrace me
like arms made of out dozens
of freshly hatched chickadees
warm around my chest
like jet addled water
outside the leaves flutter
like channels in the airways
its getting dark earlier in the day
i want to like watching movies
again
so i watch them more than once
it feels like sin, like a scratch on a disc
skipping through limited screentime
just to reconnect
with actors and good direction
i don't want to turn it off but yet i
see the faint gloam of my own reflection

Premium MemberNature's Chime

 A note rides on a Sonnet's rhyme
 And travels on to Shakespeare's quill
 A bird sings with nature's chime
 Its melody fluttering in the sunlight still

 Inspiration takes us to starry skies
 Where the seven muses roam
 Luna then begins its rise
 and glimmers in the gloam

 On the shore the waves repeat
 As palm trees sway in the breeze
 Dancing to verses in a poem's beat
 As a song sails on the seas

Le Cirque Bleu

The spotlight is aglow through the gloam
The light an indigo ink modifying color
She swings her body with agility thrusting backwards
upside down, with unseen wings,
an acrobat aerials amid the roar
She looks pretty with her fan in one hand,
long tresses flowing loosely
A circus horse made of jade below
makes eye contact and an interconnection
Without movement they are in an eternal trance,
In the deep dark yonder the golden helio appears
Fiddle and banjo play for the opening adagios act La Nouba
Her leotard tightly invokes, red with flower imprints
Statuesque, still in time showing off her physique
and impressing spectators from below the fliers' pedestal
From above the nets, with ease, she imagines a
world where gravity defies, and animals and objects fly
Flights of fancy within the flying trapeze

            flights of fancy an indigo trapeze ~ from above jade nets, an ease

Line of inquiry:

"here I am in human form, but it was not always quite so earth is not the only planet I’ve been to through past life regressions I definitely know"

Flashbacks flicker of images unknown,
wandering in gardens of cosmic scents.
Beyond this existence we're not alone,
as past is seen through Deja Vu events.
This form is only flesh and bone contents.
Soft soul knows this is no permanent home,
yearning to return where it once did roam.
In silence, spirit attempts to transcend,
farther above twilight's galactic gloam.
Travelling towards paths that never end.

Premium MemberGleaming Gloam

The sky canvas seems glittery.
Hiding a divine mystery
The red moon’s rays glow like ruby,
Sapphire stars shine so silvery.

Swift's shadows sing the sun's send-off.
Each shade shows nature's mastery.
Midst black-sheep clouds are a taut trough.
Sapphire stars shine so silvery.

Nighthawks and Nightjars perform plays.
Sky sails on stream periphery.
Hills and vales are in a grey haze
Sapphire stars shine so silvery.

The sky canvas seems glittery.
Sapphire stars shine so silvery.

          "Love can be blinding by being alone"

                                    ~~~
         I live in my house, but its not my home.
             I drive in my car, but it I don't own.
        I give you my best, but you still go roam.
    I'm trapped in these walls, and feel so alone!
     I gave up my friends, from under my dome.
         I have no one left, to call on the phone.
      I cook and I clean, from dawning till gloam.
    I'm trapped in these walls, and feel so alone!
    You work on your car, just shining its chrome.
  You won't help me out, you moan and you groan.
    You think I'm alright, and dont see my groam.
     I'm trapped in these walls, and feel so alone!
        I live in my house, but its not my home.
   Im trapped in these walls, and feel so alone!
Premium MemberOur Love in July
Lethal kind heart, your fingernails like morganite daggers
sharp enough to stab my heart from the hearth that you warm
As long as you still light it, my breathing bellows will stoke
your flame, which came from a tight lipped smile that
wish me the most beautiful hellos.
Upon the eve of early July, from which the heat of the sun
becomes aggressive, your freckles blossomed into a bouquet,
that shined aside your elegant dress. Darkened in nature,
the color of the void you wore, yet was molded to your whim,
your radiant, resplendent figure.
For the sake of my sanity I will admire as much as my mind will
allow me to comprehend. Hazelnut hair in waves that flowed
down like opulent bordeaux.. Your legs hidden in stockings, they
muted their glow of moonlight and silk. You are a walking wonder,
the embodiment of immaculate gloam.
Dancing outside a mansion, at a celebration of significant love
I felt my very core absorb all the attendants’ admiration,
so I may orchestrate the concentrate of my overflowing dam.
To say what may be simple I may admit, but these words are
 pure osmium,
“I want this feeling for forever, if you would let me share it.”
Premium MemberStar-Crossed Lovers
If a single star, is a brief delay
For a ship too far, in a far-fetched way
Then a full-flung fling, on a fateful fly
Is a hull-hung thing, on a hateful high
When I sing my song, in a sad singer's voice
In a mad sing-along, and a bad singer’s choice
There is just one wrong, and a single mystery
For a solitary gong, and a salty melody
On a Monday night, by the stars far away
There is just one bite, in a Mars Milky Way
And the gloam, you ignite, by the sand, and the sea
Is the poem, you recite, for the canned revelry
For the star-crossed two, living two-crossed lives
Where the hard-frost gives, and the chard survives
There is plenty to do, when the dew-drop dies
And the last laugh lives, where the least love lies.
Find protection under its dome
  As those raindrops come pouring down
  When the scorching sun starts to roam
 Find protection under its dome
  A parasol beneath the gloam
 When those rainy days come around
   Find protection under its dome
 As those raindrops come pouring down
Death's Door
I was born through that bloody door
Through my mother’s womb, I saw the gloam
I was once two, expelled as one
I’m now on the flip side of the portal
Into life, the door closed behind me
I come back to what God denied
I unlocked the door with attempts
I still jiggle the lock pursued by suicide
There are marks on that cold facade
On the other side, I pulled to its face
I know the contours of the living door
Its surface magnifies my weariness
Calls of loved ones have a gravity
They like greater heavenly bodies
Those beyond the gate are sirens
Won't the knob stop beckoning?
I gaze through the opaque peephole
Hoping to see where I came from
The door calls to me before my time
I know the door like an old friend
Only I lay mines on the doorstep
Fight the urge to blast it open
Shrapnels lead others to despair
Keep them safe from mines
The cold steel door lulls me
I’ve got better things to do, death
If I exit your bloody door
Will I, at last, be no more?
No door, no egress, no me
The trinity united with the great thou
A singularity of endings or nothing at all
To exit as one with patience, God
Premium MemberA Soul Is Divine
Towards the light it always glides
to find a resting place
The anchor lies within its gloam
its answer is a prayer ;
Beneath the keen observant eye
of a Divine soul, the heart bequeaths its silver sleeve
and makes a promised oath to serve and to protect ;
The soul, devoid of sly and mischief act
can gleam as bright as noonday sun.
Within the essence of its life
pure love abounds inside a soul most true.
Thank God he gave us souls to make us grow
I am grateful, and I know you must be too.
