Premium MemberRevival

When he ceased to pray,
he floundered and lost his way
in a world gone gray.

Then he turned his back
on church. Of friends, he lost track,
and gray turned to black.

He cried in the night,
"I'm to blame for my dark plight.
Can wrong be made right?"

God's Spirit so bold
revived this Christian gone cold;
soon life shone like gold.

His faith is now strong.
God helped him to right each wrong
and gave back his song.

Premium MemberThe Upper Crust

A part of the upper crust of society
I have never been
Methinks “down to earth” more accurately
Describes this old homosapien
No airs, no talking big, no flamboyant flair
Just little old simple me
Now that word “simple” can be misleading
I don't think I've ever been considered simple
In terms of brain power
But at the other end of the scale
Certainly never classified myself a genius either
Somewhere in the middle... an average joe
This is my comfort zone
In my teen years, I floundered around
Wondering what life had in store for me
Until I realized I had a flair for creativity
And in particular “graphic design”
I have never ever regretted my decision
To head off in that direction
In fact in my 80's I was still active
With a show of hands...
How many of you enjoyed the profession
To the degree that you never wanted to retire
Let's see, one, two, three... oh and another!

Premium MemberMind of Our Heart - Hk

“The best and most beautiful things in the world
cannot be seen or even touched —
they must be felt with the heart”
              ~Helen Keller

If we truly wish to awake,
on dark desires, apply a brake.
Living gently is a learnt art,
by employing mind of our heart.

Too long we’ve floundered in the dark.
Let’s ascend on an upward arc.
Time’s now for fear and soul to part,
by employing mind of our heart.

To know who we are, let’s begin;
by silencing our thought flow din.
We then feel bliss ignition start,
by employing mind of our heart.

Soul’s not a concept, it’s real,
known if we search with zest and zeal.
Pure joy peaks, adding love to cart,
by employing mind of our heart.

Our true essence is living light
shining within like a star bright,
when we deem all one, none apart,
by employing mind of our heart.

The truth is we are who we seek,
so simply stop energy leak.
Delight as bliss beats within dart,
by employing mind of our heart.

Premium MemberWho Needs Words

I’ve often wondered what to say
or how to speak when words would stray,
a gesture served to save the day
when simple words would slip away.

I’ve often floundered when I've spoke
or tried to tell a bawdy joke...
it pays for words to wear a yoke
instead of trying to provoke.

I've often blathered tongue-in-cheek
with wordiness that seemed unique
and thought my wit was rather chic...
though knew it nonsense, so-to speak.

I've often blundered when upset
by saying something I’d regret
and wished I had a safety net...
a muted state was better yet.

And though I find it so absurd
that jibber gets my jabber stirred...
when rhetoric goes undeterred,
I often wonder, who needs words.

Premium MemberA Poem

As I wondered what I should write
And floundered in my own confusion
I thought – why not write about poems
That set me thinking what poems are

A poem could be anything, we know
At best it is distilled thoughts put into rhyme
Or a moment caught in time
A window glimpse into the world
An engrossing passion’s ardent curl
A snap shot of scenes from Nature- wild
Or a slice of life, birth or death

Sometimes it could be a yearning
Or an image long hung on a pole
A thought turned inside out
Or the emptying of a mind about to spill

It could be the liberation of a fancy
For long held in thralldom
A gnawing pain, long suppressed
Or a secret, never divulged

As I pondered over the subjects’ enormity
And a poem’s vast scope,
I asked myself- ‘Why hesitate?’

Soon I felt a stir inside,
My thoughts broke loose
And a terrible block lifted off my head
My silence became audible
I embroidered these thoughts
 Into the pattern of a poem

Here it is before you, have a look at it
Will it annoy you or will you enjoy!

You:

You knew me before
I ever knew you.
A child so innocent
You watched as I grew.

Still of this world
I floundered and fell.
Thank you my Lord
You saved me from Hell.

The day that you touched me
My life became yours.
You guided, you kept me
From worldly lures.

I talked about life
How hard things had got.
You listened and told me
You loved me a lot.

As I drew closer
And followed behind.
Only to realize
You were changing my mind.

Remember that day, Lord
You reached out your hand.
You pulled me beside you
And that's where I stand.

Thank you My Lord
for all that you've done.
I love you and need you
No more do I run.

You knew me before
I ever knew you.
Your name is Jesus
And my name is Sue.

Premium MemberSpilled

Spilled.
.
Spilled an ocean of hurt and anguish
Over my lost formative years
When my lonely betrayed heart
So full of pain couldn’t take no more pain
And burst into acid burning tears
.
The frightened unloved inner child
That never saw the sun
And never learned to smile
And who crawled on broken glass
My hands tied
My feet chained and bound
With an iron clasp
.
So many promises made
So many never kept
My heart battered and bruised
A fallen tumbling leaf windswept
Pulled one way then the other
Ripped and torn apart
But never a hater
But a bewildered lover
.
An emotional punchbag
Bursting at the seams
For others to unleash their narcissistic
Neurotic tendencies and venom
Like a sailing ship floundered
Crashed upon jiggered tarring rocks
Then to sink like a mullion unfulfilled dreams
.
I lust for hemlocks poison to bite
And end my torrid nightmare
A never ending cursed night
And vanish into unknown obscurity
And the emptiness of oblivion
The sweet release
Peace at last.

Premium MemberInnate Divinity Within

“ I floundered about hither and thither
Light dawned within, when I took a breather!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bliss comes in riding, where are we hiding
Open your heart to the joy current now
Feel within, magnetism scintillating
To imbibe elixir, simply allow
Identity enemy; just rest it
Rekindle your innocence in fullness
Free flowing, judge neither fault nor merit
Hollowed out form then throbs with blissfulness
Path quite simple, oh hermit, let thoughts sleep
Love alone real, choose therefore alignment
Soma nectar vibrant, then seeps in deep
Resting ego mind, flow in contentment
Nothing to be done, for we are complete
Transfixed in divine love, with bliss replete
Table approved, opposes lounge counter.
They are renown for their Seafood Chowder.
Richly creamed, dark and light meats encountered.
Anticipate fish swam and not floundered.
Skilled stir unleashed alluring aroma,
ambition perceives an observed coma.
Goal craves a sterile setting, yet, a pest
amidst its flight, a snarled unwelcomed guest.
A fly urged, near the soup, now, it is out,
for a fly does not enter a closed mouth.
I Died a Little Inside
I Died A Little Inside
I died a little inside
When you passed by me
Without that familiar soft glance
My each tomorrow floundered in tears sea
I stared blank at fading skies
Losing last dashes of sunrays
My breaths palpitated
Guessing I perished from your life's ways
I wrote on my peeled off skin
Song sung with your rhymes
With my torn scraps alone
Shivered to spine in spring's downtime
I tore my treasured notes and letters
With silent screams that couldn't escape
My lacerated zeal on tip of knife
Fallen dreams got your shape
Walking, stumbling with a heavy heart
Every ounce of my soul cried
Shots of desperation injected in my veins
I died today a little inside
Sinking, Drowning, Grasping
As I am sinking,
as I slowly drown,
I am grasping,
making no sound,
suffocating as I go under,
things are going dark
will there come a saviour
to rescue me
and save the day
It's gone beyond
me saving myself
I tried so hard but floundered
and now I need some help
or it's all over
and all good things
will come to an end.
Sadness
I do all day think,
are there gaols I’ve not achieved?
Yes, of course, many!
Poetry, my voice, poetry,
a portal, open, I write, no one hears.
The one goal for me, for the world,
harmony, peace, other goals no point!
I think of leaders, people
who lead folk astray,
destroying hope, goals, sadness!
Hypocrites they are,
the one man who tried died,
his spirit floundered.
Before it’s to late help the world,
achieve for all, love, harmony, peace!
I do all day think,
are there gaols I’ve not achieved?
Yes of course many!
The one I would love,
and with help, we could achieve, world
When None Command
When None Command
By surging sea and force of wind
A tattered vessel floundered in
Where coral reef performed the rest
In ripping wide her wooden breast.
From timber scream to cracking mast
Her form dismembered to the last
And on the waves her pieces reached
An aftermath of slumber, beached.
She is a silent reprimand
To those who sail
When none command.
