I am nothing and everything
To myself or someone else
Isn’t that concept something?
Moment to moment perspective shifts
Arriving blunt with charm and harshness
Challenging each step of the way
Anxiously hiding then fiercely defending
Mind numb then mind bending
Nobody sees me then all at once
Everyone sees me
How will I ever reconcile this?
I slip into nothing
Then I’m suddenly summoned for dependability

Set sail in feathered ships
mis guided by shattered stars
and bent leaden sextants.
A little white rippled tempest
becomes a blackened water witch
hatched from a devil's chrysalis
sails are whipped and torn in half
sextant and mast fashion a crucifix
earth swallowed by the final horizon
souls churn upon Poseidon's spitz.
Slothful morning arrives
amidst the frothy angel tide
an armada of prayers ignite
unable to buoy any sign of life.
The last candle flickers in the reeds
hope throttles down-to recovery.

I’ve bloomed well past blossom season, no fleshy pink
petals here. Wrinkles appear now. Feet left by crow. You
see the grey in the brown, see a patch of scalp showing.
You see the change in my gait, see my once brisk pace
slowing. But what you don’t see is me: I am no longer
desirable, desired, nor worth a smile, a glance from afar.
I’ve grown out of season, a dead drink left atop bar. I cling
to youthful glow for that is when you saw me. Now the
lamplight flickers, the bulb is on its last. A livewire fuse close
to short. As I pass, you might see a shoulder hunched, an
eye cast down. You see hands that surely once held a lover’s,
lips that had stories to tell. But that clock is ticking and so
you turn. And what you don’t see is me. I’ve written words
you might read, taught things you might learn; once, you
saw me dancing under club lights, saw me whoosh by on
rollercoasters. But that hand is moving, and you’re conscious
that time wants to flee. You see a body, a person, a
frame with history. But what you don’t see is me.

In twilight's hollow, where shadows play,
I find myself lost, in a heart's gray day.
A soul once afire, with love's pure flame,
Now flickers faintly, in loneliness's cold frame.
In secret gardens, where memories reside,
Our laughter echoes, a haunting, mournful tide.
The ghosts of our whispers, the shadows of our past,
Torment my waking, and forever will last.
Like autumn's leaves, our love withered away,
Leaving me to wander, in a desolate gray.
No warmth of your touch, no gentle summer breeze,
Only the echoes of what we used to be.
In this limbo, I search for a way to escape,
From the prison of longing, the weight of heartache.
But like a migratory bird, lost in endless skies,
I'm left to navigate, the dark and lonely sighs.
So here I'll remain, suspended in time,
A heart forever trapped, between love and loneliness's chime.

A candle ever flickers in the night,
However far, however faint it be;
In cruelest darkness shall it burn most bright,
Until the sun shall come to set us free.

In plain sight, space flickers
and right at that moment,
both palms and soles of feet,
tingle with magnetism;
pulse that does not deplete.
In plain sight, space flickers,
cognised if we be still;
God’s light shines from behind,
ours to know unless we’re
spiritually blind.
In plain sight, space flickers,
signalling it’s a veil,
which all pure hearts can pierce,
upon shedding ego
and desire tempests fierce.
In plain sight, space flickers,
so we’re both this and that
and as we bilocate
between earth and heaven,
God Himself shapes our fate.

A lifetime plays out
as you watch a movie screen,
or hang around in the foyer,
waiting for the right movie to start.
Then you realize
that it has always been your light
on that screen -
that you were, fact,
the only projector in town.,center.

Heart contractions, a wake up call
Moments when we fail to stand tall
It almost seems we’re in a dream
Blockaded by a mere thought wall
Fears and desires, that inwards stream
Hollow, shallow, ego spawned scheme
Void-centric joyous soul’s immune
To imagined fears, that so beam
When with pulse of love we’re in tune
To throbs of bliss our heart does swoon
Outcomes any, we are tranquil
Radiant thus like yonder moon
Healed by God’s light, voids within fill
Feel soma nectar overspill
Mind-body’s but an instrument
In surrender to divine will
Whenever we be discontent
Insentient to bliss current
Know that ego’s up to it’s tricks
Blocking soul’s light effervescent

Hold
me close
while
shadows
elongate,
swaying
to
the tune
of flickers.
Heartened whispers
luminice.
Kisses
strum
makeshift
acoustics,
broadcasts
of
cryptic
light.

The candle flickers, the sunlight fades,
Nearly extinguished, up high the flame leaps
As brilliant rays pierce my heart's horizon
Then disengage, sink slowly into the ashen eve
Where unseen, sparks glow and glimmer
From my inmost chamber throughout
Night's long deep slumber, until sensing your
Imminent Return, the Blaze Newborn emerging

Thoughts flood my mind
when I’m alone
Close to my computer
I am sin prone
These flames of lust
they flicker within me
Images intertwined
begging me to see
This empty eroticism
promises of ecstasy
I know this is my prison
still I don’t want to be set free
Curved and supple
together bodies mingle
My eyes long to breath in
a promised tingle
This inward hunger
begs me to enter
That feeling of heat
grows within my centre
Firm supple images
naked and slender
No drugs or alcohol
but it’s still a bender
With my physical release
a strangled scream
Within a moment
emotions extreme
Shame overtakes me
eyes look away
Temporarily satiatiated
but I’m far from okay
I can’t forgive myself
and I’m too ashamed to pray.
Is this just a male issue? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. This poem was written as a result of meeting with a men’s group and the subsequent conversation.

Voicemail Heart Flickers
When the alert sounds,
the source of the mystery is revealed.
Heartbeat flickers,
mind smiles,
your voice distilled, calm and haunting,
as I am the lone soul on the planet and,
the only one who can detect soul’s peace?
In the flurry of the daily,
ups, downs and even outs. ,

The candle flickers in front of me
A mesmerizing flame to watch
Sometimes moving, sometimes still
As life can be so busy, then so quiet
Sometimes we flicker, sometimes we stop
To notice the simple things
Maybe the rhythm of our breath
Time is what we make of it
To shine, to give, to move, to be still
--- To be who we are ---

Seeking the world from an old flame
Nothing craves one more than lost love
Searching for that special something
To keep the memories alive
Does he feel it, does she know it
Is it truly there to be found
Love is a rare find nowadays
The pressure to get one is real
One wants to have someone with them
Through the horror that life does bring
And through both gorgeous days as well
Where life shines down on both of them
Finding love is never easy
Especially when it’s on top
One from the past is never gone
When thoughts of their love hold firmly
