SPRING

SPRING

Each and every year I am surprised
As winter finally loosens its cold grip
Maybe by now we’ve seen the worst
There’s doubters with lips still pursed
Who think warm days are just a blip
Yet will slowly become acclimatised

Full heat setting is no longer advised
As in the morning air, it’s just a nip
The sun appears, not too hot at first
As temperatures are slowly reversed
Lingering ice thaws and starts to drip
And a spell of daily warmth is prized

As buds, flowers are at first disguised
The new stems emerge like a fingertip
Eager to rise, no need to be coerced
And by the daily warmth, are nursed
Quite soon, newborn lambs will skip
Now at last, a new Spring is finalised

The Lost Paradox

Take a look inside,
Both dead and alive,
Simultaneously?
How can we measure it,
If something is living, yet finalised?

Propose a second proposal,
Preferably pick a second one,
Work, well that's force over distance,
Yet how can we measure success?

Power is work over time but
It can be just and injust
Who decides control, no not I
It must be him on the inside

Laughing, so can I actually look inside the box..
Like a fidgety penniless ant ready for work,
Yes yes I'm hungry, hungry strong as an ox
Paradoxically held back, retaining an astute smirk

I get it now, needing no quarrels
Acceptance.
It's the ways it's meant to be
If we find out truth we will pay schrodingers fury

Hypothesis: Not a chance of success.
Can I open, must I find out.
It will ruin me I'm told.
Accept the unacceptable

Pegs Surprise

Just bought a plot of land, it’s a surprise
for my wife, somewhere she can exercise,
as soon as the deeds are finalised, ready
I’ll pack her cases, loves traveling does Peggy,
so when she’s settled I will join her there
in the circumstances I think that’s only fair
I’ve sprang the surprise, she’ll be gone soon
hope she enjoys it on the dark side of the moon.

Premium MemberAge Doesn'T Matter When You'Re In Love

Susie teetered into Bill’s office, wearing a skintight miniskirt
Sat on Bill’s knee for dictation. She was an outrageous flirt
Soon Bill was smitten and couldn’t resist her ample charms
He forgot about his wife and kids and fell into Susie's arms

That was the lusty beginning of their clandestine love affair
Young Susie is a man-eater and calls Bill her "Honey Bear"
Bill’s wife discovered his deception and asked for a divorce
She’ll keep it out of the media for a huge settlement, of course!

As soon as his divorce was finalised he made Susie his wife
Susie’s only twenty. Bill wanted a carer for the rest of his life
Bill’s eighty-five years old and Susie stroked his thinning hair
and denies her attraction to him is that Bill’s a multi millionaire!

They say age doesn’t matter, especially when you are ‘in love’
That depends if you’re the ‘secretary’ who's married to ‘the ‘guv’!
Within a year Bill was dead and Susie worked for another VIP
I've heard she takes dictation while sitting naughtily upon his knee

ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY

Poor Beryl had terrible piles
So painful, they stuck out for miles
With help from her finger
Her piles did not linger
Now comfy, she sits there and smiles!

Premium MemberBeech Tree Ii

Oh how I hate the winter where my limbs are exposed and seen
I just adore the springtime; I wear my dress of emerald green

Draping myself in lush foliage, not an inch of body you can see
Until warm winds of autumn arrive and begin to undress me

Then I start to shiver as my gown of golden leaves falls away
Leaving me cold and naked until spring returns again one day

I worked so hard on my personification
Then looked at the list with consternation
Saw the sponsor gave it an N/A
Perhaps he’d had a tough day ….
I now look to Constance for mitigation!

Forever Love2

My true love for you fashioned in my ink,
our wishes granted, and sensed innermost,
our path composed now forever a link,
for us as one, in love my heart, yours host.

Passionate, our moments are creative,
together, our dreams are awakening,
for living and not existence; alive,
lonely instants no longer frightening,

Silent times in presence, reassuring,
thoughts of us apart, never, relentless,
we are meant, as one, together sharing,
our emotions and thoughts in sync, seamless.

Created in our Lords image, we shine,
this honour bestowed on us, how divine.

Half a Couplet

It's couplet time but I am shy one person short of a couple.
If I don't find a partner soon, I'm going to be in trouble.

I understand they call the term "set in their ways".
Or content to be on my own, oh happy days.

For too long now I've ruled my roost and jumped into my car.
Whenever the notion takes me to drive near or far.

Especially now the kids are grown and living far afield.
I can make an excuse to visit them and drop in for a meal.

Couples are nice to look at from a distance now I find.
I no longer wish I had a he who I was his and he was mine.

Dining out is so passe, I much prefer to eat at home.
Or even order take out, by simply lifting the phone.

My couple days are over, I'm a born again spinster now.
Roll on rockin' retirement, who needs a man anyhow?

Premium MemberI Drew a Blank

I picked up my pen and tried hard to write,
words simply failed me and I drew a blank.
The harder I tried the worse it became
Where are the syllables when I need them?
Not a limerick or rhyme will appear …
my muse has gone on her spring holiday -
when she will return I have no idea!
I’m sad, how can I enter a contest
that I have little chance of placing in...
Oh well, I guess its another N/A
to add to my expanding collection.

Premium MemberSpring Flowers

Spring flowers

Artemisia bear the colourful foliage
Bluebells carpet a magical sight
Coreopsis and cherries blossom
Daffodils are seen in jovial mood
Eranthis buds as the snow melts,
Forsythia screams it's spring time,
Grape hyacinths trumpet arrival
Hellebore shows surprising resilience,
Irises have a charmed goodness,
Japanese anemones pop up in cheer,
Kangaroo paws giggle,
Lilacs give sweeter fragrance
Moss phlox jewels open alongside tulips
Narcissuses dance in joy,
Oriental lilies add colour and drama
Pansy prefers being cool,
Quietude of poppy charms
Redbud feasts for the eyes,
Snowdrop anemone fragrances fortune,
Time for hearty Asiatic lily to hail,
Unfolding beauty of Orchid,
Virginia bluebells and viburnum
Witch hazel adds touch of yellow
X factors in birds of paradise,
Yellow trillium adds a true zing
Zinnia gives lasting affection and goodness.

My Lovers

You'll find great Lipton's and greying Earl's
Lying in my green beds in a curl
In my aroma they flump
I tantalize them to jump
In my green waters for love to unfurl

Gorgeous ladies keep me in a twirl
Celebrities hold me up as a priceless pearl
With green eyed coquettes I strump
In their petalled lips I slump
Blinging down curvaceous bellies to swirl

I brew secret desires of any girl
Mischief in their hearts I cleverly knurl
Squeeze me greener I retrump
My flavour you'll never dump
With green tea lovers my passions uncurl!

Premium MemberA New Species Only Known To Mum

With cavemen like grunts they extract themselves from their pit
Unable to communicate on a level you can understand …
spouting three letter syllables such as ‘IDK’ and ‘meh’

Eyes red from lack of sleep, but what do they care
Too much time playing on their computers and phones
You worry they don’t interact with ‘real’ friends

Your fridge gets raided; milk is glugged and gulped
Cereals and bread disappear at an alarming rate
When you open your cupboards they are bare

The beast then stumbles into the bathroom
When they finally emerge you gag under a cloud of deodorant

Try asking them a question about what time they will be home …
They react as if you are subjecting them to interrogation

This species is not uncommon – many of us have one in our house

The Girl In the Mirror

I Always wonder, who's the girl in the mirror,
Who seems so calm and composed of herself
and showing no emotions or sentiments.
I usually see her staring at me
and replicating whatever I do.
She seems to have nothing of her own.
As if she has lost her everything in the deep sea of sins.

I see her in the morning, with messed up hair.
I see her at afternoon, with a clumsy face.
I see her tiredly yawn at night.
And, sometimes I see her cheerless, helpless smile.

I know she does, whatever I do.
I know she can't feel anything on her own.
But I feel pity for her. And that is why I decide
To be happy, to make her feel good.
