Premium Member Weary Soul

I am weary down to the reaches of my soul
My body is tired, my mind is exhausted,
and most of all my soul aches with grief and overwhelm

How do you fix a weary soul?
Leaving a difficult workplace may help,
taking a few days off and seeking joy

I need greenspace, not in the city
but in a natural environment and it is on
the top of my to do list to seek out nature

I need friendship, which I have oodles of,
and I will reach out and spend some time
with my kindred spirits that bring me joy

I need encouragement, which I get from
many sources, but lately the source has been
from God, with love and guidance

I need the flow of words that is hard to accomplish
when you work a full day in a difficult environment,
I am hoping time will open my word gates

Most of all, I need to rest in my faith
God reminds me every day that I am loved, I am his
and he is with me. I will rest in him.

Hi Friends

Sorry to inform you that my elder sister died of a stroke on 24th September. It has been a shock for me and the family and I am taking a few days off from Poetry Soup. So, I won’t be able to read your poems or respond to your comments.

Carol Brady
was a real cool lady
that included the likes
of three kids from Mike

Alice the maid
I’m sure she prayed
for a few days off
when those kids would cough

Premium Member Always On The Go

Every single day, tens of thousands depend on me.
I have more responsibility than you could ever know.
I’m available day and night, but I’m rarely free.
I enjoy what I do because I’m always on the go.

I’m almost always up, and I hardly every stop,
But one in awhile, I get into a real jam.
If you get angry because I’m late, don’t blow you top.
There are things I can’t control; Who do you think I am?

I’ve been doing my job for over a hundred years straight
With only a few days off due to strikes or bad weather.
During the rush hours, have a little patience and wait.
Whether local or express, I enjoy our travels together.

The Final Beat

You know what's going to be weird
You know what's going to be strange
When this heart in me takes its final beat
And from this place I pass away

Will it be I know that I've died
Will it be "POOF" you've arrived
Will I struggle a bit with the jest of it
Or will I take it all in stride

Will there be someone there to meet me
A marching band on hand to greet me
Will St. Peter set me down gently
And show My Good, my Bad, and my Ugly in a movie

Or will I wake up to the burning flames
With the demons all chanting my name
Will I realize I've made a mistake
And when I do will I regret it too late

Or will I spend a few days off in Limbo
With the angels calling out numbers for Bingo
With Heaven above and Hell down below
And me stuck here in the middle

Just a few thoughts the closer I get
To the ledge that is best known as death
Maybe instead of me inkling in all this thinking
I should do something about it instead...

I actually have done something about it...
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior years back and can say it's the best decision I've ever made in life and for death! Although I'm still a mess I now have the hope of tomorrow.

-Just sharing an old poem of mine not entered in a contest. Written with the inspiration of my birth and travel month ;)))

Winter's Chill -100 Friends Form-

The cold
chills you fiercely.
Winter.
Can't wait for warmth
Spring's around the corner
flowers will bloom
but, for now, I will wait.
Winter's chill will linger a while
the snow will continue.
I'm glad to have a few days off
because, when the snow hits, we get more than
what the weather really calls for.
I don't mind having the snow land softly
it makes such a picturesque view this time of year
don't mind Winter's chill, as long as there's snow.

I have never penned one of these writes before. It's about time I tried a different style of poetry.
