When My Family Ate Together

Many years ago have fond memories

of my family sitting down to a fine meal

mom had prepared for us that left

our plates empty each time.

Smiles that were at the old supper table,

each night of the week, we were a

family that was together and so close

knitted.

Brother, sister and me washing those

dishes, what a great team we were,

after all of these years, miss those

happy days of youth,

sometimes thinking of it brings

a tear.

Only sister and myself are left

from those days when my family ate together.

Family's today don't eat together as

days of long ago, it's a shame,

but time moves on.

Tortured Memories

My rational and irrational thoughts
as always come out and
start to spar with each other
in an all too familiar
bitter sweet and obnoxious way:
identical twin brothers
who don’t even have the energy
and wherewithal to
despise each other
but continue to have
the ‘wisdom’ to loathe
the people they have become
to the detriment
of an adult who still
aspires to embrace
and caress the inner child
with a knowing affection
even though his parents,
in spite of themselves,
contrived to present
a marriage, a family refuge,
(don’t make me laugh)
which all too often resulted
in so many angry
and aggressive arguments,
night after night
as my sister and I tried to sleep
upstairs in their so called
marital bed.

My sister and I,
well, we haven’t spoken for years.
When I see her again
will I embrace an adult, a sister,
who is now fifty years old,
or like me, a still terrified
four year old child
who has spent his life, alone,

Little Sister Lies

“who ate the last cookie?!”
Mom would yell aloud,
“it was the little bratty one!”
I would stand up proud.
“who spilled koolaid on the floor?!”
Mom would scream with glee,
As I pointed at my sister, I would say,
“wasn’t me!”
“who fed the dog ice cream?!”
Mom would yell glaring at us,
“I told her not to do it mom,
But all she wanted to do was fuss.”
So yeah my sister takes the blame
Every now and then,
But it’s about time I started getting pay back,
I mean gosh she’s already ten!
But who knew my torture had turn to teachings,
And a little master mind was starting to grow.
I never thought I’d see the day,
When the world started spinning so slow…
Then my parents were gone late one night,
And my sister said she needed to go out.
There was a crash, and now I realize
What that crash was all about.
“who took the car out last night
And completely crunched in the side?!”
My sister, pointing, said with innocence,
“don’t look at me, I cant drive.”

Boom!

It was sunday afternoon,
we were in the living room.
When in walked my big sister
and my whole world just went Boom!

She announced that she was pregnant!
Yes in the family way!
I was lost for words,
not a thing to say.

My Mother she went mad,
so did Dad as well,
the words that they both said,
i cant repeat or tell.

My brother he just laughed,
( I think he needs to grow. )
But then he is the youngest
and doesn"t really know!

My Sister she just cried,
yes cried and sobbed and wept,
and then on my Mothers lap,
eventually she slept!

My Mother looked at Dad,
Dad looked at the floor,
i glanced up at my brother
as he headed out the door.

The silence in that room,
was the worst i"d ever hear.
I looked at Mum and Dad,
felt the pressure and the fear!

Up the stairs went thumping,
and my brother reached his room.
We could hear him on his mobile,
relating doom and gloom.

Then we heard him laughing,
i thought " His head will roll!"
You"d think he"d know by now,
to take some Mirth Control!

Snicker Doodle

My sister planned to make a treat
For all of us to share
So she labored in her kitchen
With tender loving care

But when she mixed the cookie dough
She added too much salt
She had to multiply the recipe
To make it all come out

The cookies kept on coming
They came without an end
So when we hear “snicker doodle”
We all just laugh and grin

My sister planned to make a treat
And so she did that day
But the treat was this sweet memory
That will never fade away

My Sister and I

this was a poem I wrote about my older sister and my relationship
My sister doesn't love me she
won't say it but i know
She's nice to me at times though shell never give me hugs or provide me with gifts to warm
my soul
Her friends our better than mines so when there around she pretends I don't exist we never
get into fights excpet once or twice i regretted it afterwards I don't know if she did we used
to be real cool now im not sure what happened to our relationship seventeen years i waited
for it to get better to no avail and for the rest of my life I will wait for her to say those magic
words I love you little sister

Jailhouse Blues

My sister is in the jailhouse my nephew's too.
They're all singing those jailhouse blues.
In there for stealing, murder and drugs.
Their moma's didn't give enough kisses and hugs.
Try to ask my sis how ya doin at least once a week.
She say's sister your letters are so sweet.
I try to send her money to get what she needs.
Our moma would say come on Teresa do a good deed.
This was wrote for you sis I hope you think it's funny.
From your loving sister and your brother-n-law Bunny.

"sisters and Brothers"

When we're born we are either a girl or a boy.
A girl brings Mom happiness a boy brings Dad joy.

There's alot of disagreement's between each other.
There's alot of love between a sister and brother.

We shared our laughter we shared our tears.
We always kept our hearts very near.

As we grew up and went our own way.
When we got together we remembered our
younger days.Keep your brother's and sister's in your heart.
No one else can play that part.

Your never alone when you have someone there.
With a brother or sister to show you they care.
