A beautiful, colorful day elicits fantasy,
beginning with a dawn of tangerine-hued sky.
Envisioning a monarch’s wings fluttering,
into the sky with poetry I fly.
Lovely mellow noon offers pink quince
blossoming beneath a sky clear blue.
I imagine strolling with my love along a lane.
Romance, along with nature, blooms anew.
Radiant sun tumbles unabashedly violet
into its deep, mirroring, rippling sea.
I picture myself as a purple starling.
Winging beyond the horizon, I flee.
Lucid moonlit night opens pensively
as if it were a muse in a robe of bluish-gray.
One of myriad stars I now become,
wishing from Dreamland never to stray.

it is strange to me that a color means something
by itself, it elicits memories and experiences
orange is my go-to color, not blue or pink
yet did they dress me in orange when I was a baby?
in the fifties? I rather doubt it.
Actually, most of the photos of me as a baby
show me in a diaper and nothing else
and there are lots of them.
When I think blue I think neither boy or girl
I think, sky, the eyes of one of my children and the sea
blue is a color I always reach for when I am painting
for I despise a white background
I have painted more skies and seas than most
Probably fifteen hundred skies and seas
color is important to me;
I would not want to live in a world without it
But I could never assign one color to either sex.
Or all boys or all girls
Since no two children are the same.

Beset by boredom of mind I ponder the
illusion of I
Conceptually I doesn't exist but this fact
is hidden from eyes
I is an illusion of minds similar to lakes
in a desert
A mirage comes in the form of delusions
of a self never measured
One with all in which we are measured if it
weren't for I in the middle
We unconsciously took on this persona
now we find ourselves in a riddle
I isn't the center of things but it finds itself
at the core
Who planted this apple of eyes inside our
minds corridor?
Closer than one's paramour it elicits secrets
to hide
In reality it's illicit by nature but we go
along for the ride
Next time I comes around ask from where
it has come
If you stop to study its acts you'll see an
enemy of one

poetry
goes beyond
a mere rhythmic flow of words
like a poultice, it draws out feelings and emotions
hidden between the lines, on a personal level
poetry is to be felt more so than read
when the reader identifies with the poet's words
poetry is a way of
sharing an experience
by linking the words with the reader's feelings
joy, sadness, love, fear, anger, and hope are all
arrows in a poet's quiver
aimed to strike the reader's heart
a poem is not meant to be read like a novel
it's to be savored
and enjoyed like a fine wine
poetry
is the catalyst
that evokes self-reflection
and elicits further thoughts

Feminity is such a powerful alluring force
Like a magnet that magnetizes and attracts
So sublime captivating and sensually Devine
A bee attracted to a flower
Something so beautiful and appealing
It has driven men to war
Sail mighty ocean
Broken hearts and also made them smile
It's the most fragrant perfume
Euphoric contagious the sweetest poison
The elixir of human nature
The poison of love that elicits
Warm sensations and excitations
A glue that bonds two hearts together
Attract and maintain the species
Just as time began
The inspiration behind symphonic melodies
And songwriters poets artists and musicians
And many movies
A silent language everyone can understand
But it can also be a weapon and a tease
And bring empires to their knees
Condem jealous lovers
And destroy man's savage beast
And some take their lives
It's an urge that never satisfies
A thirst never quenched
It can also be a juicy apple
And a forbidden fruit.

dynamic deliberate Dennis designs delicate dainty dolls
Exasperatingly eccentric extrovert elicits cousin’s calls.
Fabulous forward fashions formulated in front of Niagara Falls.
Generating generous patrons because Dennis has the galls.
Honoring Herbert’s handsome handouts, he lurks in designer halls.

To everyone's surprise
The world is terrifying.
From that one thing you did
That was just a bit too intense today
To that stranger on the subway
That looked at you a little too hard.
Everything you can see elicits that
Oh god, oh no, oh god
Beating of the heart in someones rib cage.
Do you think we're all just waiting
For the fluttering to set us Aflame?

I would love to compose a poem
one that abounds
with heart and warmth and rhythm
a poem that skips merrily along
gladdening hearts and enlightening minds
a poem that evokes a chuckle or two
that invites a pause for contemplation
that poses the question
”Have you read this?”
and elicits the command
“You really must”
should this poem
flit and flutter
with a butterflies gossamer touch
lightly, playfully
or should it dig deep
be revealing and insightful
should it pose questions
or should it reveal answers
it should I suspect
do all of that
but
I think what it must do
is touch the reader
in such a way
that they sit back
somewhat pensive
somehow gladdened
and think to themselves
“I wish I’d said that”

In evermore the star displays
will surely show their stellar days
to planetary dwellers there
whate’er their sentient being flair
or parallels to earthly ways.
Such myriads of beaming rays,
how could they not a welcome gaze
shine down somewhere on living lair
in evermore?
Oh let us life learn how to praise,
as Nature’s artistry portrays,
esteeming all with loving care
while guardians of what we share,
with reverence at every phase
in evermore!
~ Harley White

The poem is in the form of a rondeau…
“In its encounter with Nature, science invariably elicits a sense of reverence and awe. The very act of understanding is a celebration of joining, merging, even if on a very modest scale, with the magnificence of the Cosmos…”

The path is shady
the gait, shaky
Destination known
elicits a moan
Tried to turn back
behind me all black
The only way, forward
to the vast sea, shoreward

Priceless is the moment
which is a memory
that lingers evermore
and elicits from me
romantic poetry.
His eyes of ebony;
his lashes - wisps against my cheek;
his breath soft and sweet
on the nape of my neck
before his lips -
light like feathered magic
touched on mine;
The feelings he awakened
which made me feel so beautiful
as if I were a goddess
for one special night.
I was between the end of my carefree youth
and at the start of those strange years
when a person's path in life gets chosen.
Other boys had come and gone.
Others would come and go.
Because my time with him was all too brief,
he shines forever in my mind -
unblemished.
And whether he is still alive or dead . . .
i think of him the way I still recall him
that week (and in particular, that precious night)
at the end of my last dear sheltered summer.
I dedicate my most romantic poems
to the boy from Quebec.

TAMING THE TRAUMA
a leitmotif
forever
a delicate moment
buffeted &vulnerable
a microcosm
of sentiment
unsubtle
reinforced
complications
of the
romantic relationship
which
elicits an
emotional
response
broken fragments
devastation
suspended
&
carefully
reassembled
in shadows
on the wall
precariousness
a crucial
component
feels
resonant
again
NOTE:THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE using spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols ,the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and responds thus making this enigmatic form a two way interplay & interpretatIon unique to the moment& changing according to mood is inherently variable.
