Fragrance of the earth

I never miss smelling the fragrance of the earth, Which arises from the dry soil after the first rain, My nose has been severely sensitive to this aroma since birth, I always get out to play and walk in the gentle rain, The smell washing away the dryness of the summer days, This scent is a remnant of the simple pleasures in my life, It evokes a strong sense of longing for my homeland always, And it reminds me of my childhood days of folk life, The earthy scent makes me feel calm and brings me pleasure, Is the sweet smell good for my mind and health, It elicits positive emotions for me like a treasure, The familiar pungent odour is my natural wealth, And it is deeply rooted in my traditional culture, Where the arrival of rain and its smell are felt as a sculpture.

Premium Member Virgin America

The faintness of flight overwhelms me
boxed in caged, corseted, in a cattle car of the air
pristine bells and whistles cajole the herd
as the breath is cycled and recycled through the
bellows of plasticine and metal
germs jumping from orifice to orifice
knees crushing bosoms braced for the portent
the potential
the promise
of the fall.

Faintness elicits only minor response
from the tenders who un-tenderly steer the crowd
small moans garner memories of the mallet falls..
but fail to unseat the kindness
so needed..sought
watery eyes wave
and the floor seems the only safety
and still the settlers stay settled in their complacency..
neither rising to gift an aged woman with their perch
or commenting as she hits the floor
ah the joys of twenty first century flight
in the belly of Virgin America.

Mysterious Muse

A cartridge filled with a horde of shackled emotions, am I,
Trifle feelings loiter within me, until she elicits them out,
Wizened by time, she knows that otherwise I might turn mordacious...
God guides my pen and has assigned her my way,

~ She is the vociferous voice of my heart ~

She knows my malleable moods and masterfully makes magic
By weaving whispers into wistful words,

~ She is the byzantine boon of my being ~

With cogent candor she cajoles me to compose poesy,
She and I share a companionable camaraderie...
In the mystical moondust of Maker's majestic mercy,
I acquiesce to her ingenious genius,

~ She is an efficacious eclectic enigma ~

For sometimes, she plays truant tricks,
Her surreptitious evanescence is a conspicuous conspiracy,
Abandoned, I have to await her august appearance...
The soft stardust of her sartorial splendor,
Renders me a mere puppet of her puissant prowess,

 ~ She is a phenomenal Phoenix ~

For she encourages me to endeavor towards excellence,
Her alacrity aggrandizes my acumen,
Having faith in her fortuitous favour, I flourish...

~ She is my God-given "gift of grace" ~

Her multifarious munificence is a monumental mystery,
She has transformed me from a fruitless flibbertigibbet
To a fulfilled female fount with her unfailing finesse...

~ She is my mysterious, magnanimous Muse ~

Feeling forever grateful to God for her grandiloquence.

Premium Member Reality of Modern Times

In this new world, the reality of insanity
Elicits frail morality, losing deep values
To cuthroat urbanity. We thirst for quick fixes
And dismiss gentle formality although life
Grants humanity its spirit’s wholeness—
How can greed and power allow us to ignore
Kindness, simple vitality borne from Hope,
Our birthright amid mundanity? Is man’s dream
Caged in temporal inanity where success
Is appraised by materialism or arrogant fame?
Such brutality! We forget the path of compassion
As time forges on in despotic volcanity, while
Children grow imbibing a mentality that existence
Lies in crude profanity based on self-interest…

Where is love in this equation?A doomed fatality
Of modern times , perhaps. I wonder.

TAMING THE TRAUMA

a leitmotif
 forever
a delicate moment
 buffeted &vulnerable
 a microcosm
of sentiment
 unsubtle
 reinforced

complications
of the
 romantic relationship
  which
elicits an
emotional
  response

  broken fragments
devastation
 suspended
&
carefully
 reassembled
in shadows
 on the wall

precariousness
a crucial

  feels
resonant

NOTE:THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE using spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols ,the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and responds thus making this enigmatic form a two way interplay & interpretatIon unique to the moment& changing according to mood is inherently variable.

Premium Member Priceless

Priceless is the moment
which is a memory
that lingers evermore
and elicits from me
romantic poetry.

His eyes of ebony;
his lashes - wisps against my cheek;
his breath soft and sweet
on the nape of my neck
before his lips -
light like feathered magic
touched on mine;
The feelings he awakened
which made me feel so beautiful
as if I were a goddess
for one special night.

I was between the end of my carefree youth
and at the start of those strange years
when a person's path in life gets chosen.
Other boys had come and gone.
Others would come and go.
Because my time with him was all too brief,
he shines forever in my mind -
unblemished.

And whether he is still alive or dead . . .
i think of him the way I still recall him
that week (and in particular, that precious night)
at the end of my last dear sheltered summer.
I dedicate my most romantic poems
to the boy from Quebec.

Premium Member A Room With a View

I've rented a room with a view
of a freshwater lake with a hue
    Nature's deepest sparkling blue …

I've rented a room with a view
of a garden with every conceivable flower
whose scents grow more fragrant each hour

I've rented a room with a view
  of stunning alabaster palaces
    engraved with exquisite chalices

I've rented a room with a view
of a forest deep and enchanted
where gold and blue macaws are planted

In each room I've rented's a view
that elicits many an ah and an ooh
Yet I'd trade the whole lot of these views
~ for one more evening, my angel, with you

CRAZE DURING FOOTBALL GAME

Up yellows; greens; reds and blue,
tell me! Tell me, who is through?
Passes. Crosses. Headers. Shots.
Volleys, blasters, more scissor kicks
tell me! Tell me, whose on the spot!

Ninety minutes with some overtime
eleven players playing in the field
each one targets to be World Champ!
The strikers and defenders immense
so are Audience claps, dance, rants!

Dripping sweat from turning, running
Tension rising! Twists are rocketing!
Audience wriggling, nonstop cheering!
Thriller, action, comedy plus tragedy,
Oh all are drawn by its classic drama.

Perplex hard attacks, clever corners
rise from a penalty or free kick yell!
Elicits an alarm to goalie keepers' eye
He in eagle's arms and kangaroo leap
Tell me! Tell me, has one scored a goal?

Around the globe, fellas or gents in craze,
amazed and tantalized by Football game!

Premium Member Fame In Lost Time

 Written: September 29, 2023
_________________________________________________________

Silence has an inherent sense of fame.
stance that orates itself without a name.
Before the earth was claimed by sound,
Silence knew it would inherit all around.

Perched on a wall, a cat decries stardom.
Amid the birds in the gazebo or a dogdom
Its sleep is both intriguing and delightful.
Those who bear vigil from dawn to nightfall

During a brief time, a tear acquires fame.
On the cheek where the soft grasp came
It elicits emotion, both optimism and pain.
And it provides a mark that will not wane.

A twisted snapshot, a treasure kept close
It decries fame in the echoes it evokes.
It's a prized gift for the one who bears it.
Yet it is left behind by the one who depicts

In shopping queues and on congested streets.
Where smiling dwindles, memories fleet.
I wish to be dubbed the one who smiles back.
Sending light to those whose souls were black.

akin to a pulley, calm to recur but widely admired.
Or a buttonhole that draws a garment desired.
I don't care to be famous for my opulence or show.
But there are a few traits that I will never outgrow.

In the lost seconds, where beauty hides.
Where mirth and trust in peace reside
I aspire to be a light in the darkest night.
And introduce a smile to everyone's sight.

Anthropocentrism Wreck Less Track Record

while atop the surface of planet Earth humanity
     all abustle skittering
to and fro, hither and yon
engaged in self important activity yielding profits,

sans blood, sweat and tears won
full throttle industrial
     manufacturers quaking unstoppably
     only intermittently pausing,

     where managers standing arms akimbo
asper quizzical looking hue cree ton
megaphone blaring orders to underlings
so "Boss" tweed can line pockets
     for his/her daughter and/or son
Head Honcho most aggrieved,
     when red ink doth run

undermining the bottom line,
thus farming out labor to distant places
     (where wages amount
     to pennies on the dollar)

locals such as Lake Woebegone, Qum, Timbuktu,
     et cetera where pun
gnashing working conditions tantamount
     to slave labor,

     yet scare other options open
hence able bodied men,
     women and children scramble,
     despite back breaking grueling physically
exhausting grunt job accepting second to none

with nary any rest for weary
long as workweek includes a mon
day, where bloodied bare hands claw
     purported Mother lode

     with feigned frenzied zest
enterprise bolstered
     via executive bank ministers
     financing lucrative scheme
     attended to by majordomo
     attired in expensive vest

corporate investment project elicits
     quaffing, imbibing, and chugging elixir
     produced from heavily guarded recipe
qua electric kool aid acid test
where coeval business men/women rest
assured bonanza forecast upon

former green acres hiding treasured quest
marginally concerned such nettlesome
     pillaging, ravaging, torturing ranks
wealth driven vanity as deleterious pest

shortsighted exploitation money making embarkation
glorified as investment nsync to feather nest
retirement funds despite leaving the environment messed
up, whereby future generations saddled with

     poorly bandaging gentrifying, resuscitating
gaping wounds upon Gaia at best
shortening quality of life
for all (poetry) Earthlings aye attest.
