Eggplants Poems

At the supermarket, squeeze this,
sniff that. Of course, color is the
first attraction: Fruit should not
be green -- vegetables must be!
So, green is not always best.
Children, take note! (Her daughter,
Little Genie, as ordered, wrote)
And if the same price for
one, choose the largest and weigh...
but scales sometimes are purposely
light, seldom right. (Genie again
wrote) Now let's do this again: I said
vegetables should be green...though
carrots better orange-yellow. Then there
are eggplants, they must be deep
purple. Oh, and the beets should
be nice, round, earthy red. Sweet candy,
gumballs, hot-dogs, highly processed
foods, hormone chicken and beef,
barbecue with artificial flavoring
should be avoided like the class
bully. (Genie wrote, if it taste good
it is probably bad for you) Read labels
on cans: Mono-this, Chlor-what's it,
if you can't say it, never plate it. Make
a list of these chemicals. Genie
used all the reminding pages in her pad.
(ended with, in the future, only go
shopping with dad)

The Greenfields For Sustenance

Looking the sea is fine
Having no fish caught is also fine
The poor has other thing to eat
The spinach in the pond is looking good
To cook the day's stomach not empty
Paired with some boiled eggs and eggplants
It's already a joyful to live a day
Life without having in the pocket is a challenge
The mind is working so hard to survive
Thanks God, He let His field grows many greens
Some wild legumes, beans and ferns
For me and my family to live for sustenance.

I Recently Found Out

I Recently Found Out

Recently I found out light is
afraid of
dried figs, (figs are
fascinated by
anything square-shaped); ice block sticks are into
lounges and
cars; pastry grow facial hair and
grow pubic hair; Mr Ironic plays the
violin; Mrs Stun gun bathes in
red wine. To
hurt Mr Jeans’ feelings all you have to
do is lower your
eyebrows; pool chlorine wants to be a
cat so it can
lick itself; free moustaches can
juggle worms; eggplants have
laughing fits when
the temperature goes
below zero; brown sugar has a
better smelling ability than
dogs have; white sugar can
type 120 words per minute; lemons can dream and
narrate documentaries on
any subject; sling shots are
huge fans of
the Golden Age of
Hollywood.

King Henry

I am all too aware of my presence inside of this armor.
My breathing in here makes it humid and muggy, yet my spear still strikes.
They call this the ultimate sacrifice, but I'm not sacrificing anything.
A sacrifice is given.
I have been forced into the suit of metal by a man that I thought was good.
This has happened before.
A man claiming to be just and to use his knowledge for the good of the people, only to shove those people head-first into a battle.
Into a war.
This is tyranny and I am in armor that I did not choose for myself.
If my garden still remains, after such bloodshed as this, I wish to grow eggplants.

The sun is bright in the clear morning sky
but brings little warmth as the solstice
is tomorrow and the photoperiod
decreases with each day.

A light frost yesterday and the eggplants
are not looking good but the tomatoes
seem okay and we will have chard,
kale and carrots well into autumn,
although the fall spinach never
set in and I must remember
to get a bushel of Romas
from the Farmer’s
Market to freeze
for the winter.

While in the city, the second wave
of the plague is rising and we
fear for our children but
they are younger and
God willing, we will
all be together for
Thanksgiving.

Avid anteaters ate artichokes
Blossoming beyond barley’s beauty,
Classic chews can clearly
Deny delivering dangerous dangling dates
Evening eggplants enormous evolved ecstatic
Ferocious fig fritters furthering Frito’s finesse.
Galloping gingerbread giants gobbling goats gelatin,
Hurrying heavily handsome hindquarters
Imagining illustriously ignorant
Jealous juried jams
Killing king’s kiwi kingdoms.
Lazy llamas laughed lightly
Making monster muffins melt
Near Neville Nettle’s nearest nutty nerves.
Opulent Ostrich ostracizes olive oils,
Putting putrid previewing pastries past
Quality quizzing quails'
Ridiculously rancid roasts
Seriously swimming sideways since strawberries
Traveled toward tender turkey talk,
Undermining understudy’s uninteresting
Very vivacious vixen’s vigorously vain vixens
Who will work wonders when
‘xtra ‘xtravagant ‘xtrapolations
Yell, yowl, yippee yelping
Zeroing zealous zealots’ zesty zeal.

Premium MemberNaysayers Go Away

Enormous eggplants peppered her Easter hat.
They were a bit heavy, but purple and exact.
However did you find them, and what fun!
The old biddies said, when they saw her in the sun.

Why thank you, she said, pleased as all get out.
Her children had gone on, one with a little pout.
They were dying their eggs, with dye all over their hands.
They were playing their tubas, in their Sunday noon bands.

Rhe sat in the gazebo in her lovely dress of green.
She was the loveliest ghost many had never really seen.
Her delight was apparent, biddies gone away for now.
Her dancing was beautiful; her face was a wow.

She was the best dreamiest dream I had ever had.
She was big and beautiful, buxom busy and bad.
She was her own person, danced to drums of long ago.
Prancing into my head and she did not move slow.

Where did you find her? The fuddy duddies soon asked.
Hilarious, and funny, in her humor I basked.
She’s part of my imagination, I claim her as my own.
So naysayers, go away, you are not part of this poem.

My Animals Abcs

An alligator always ate addax and antelopes.
Baby bats began bouncing before burping
Caterpillars climb cable crossings carefully
Dingos don't dine delicately during dinner.
Eager elephants enjoy easily eating eggplants
Funny frogs finally find flipping fun
Granny goat 's girl got green grapes
Healthy heavy happy hippos hate horrendous heat
Iguana is inhaling icky insects
Jolly Joey Jumps joyfully juggling jelly jars.
Kevin's kangaroo keeps kicking kids
Lions like long-legged little llamas
monkeys making magical music
Nightingales nest neatly nearby
Olly's old Ostrich outruns others
Polly parrot playfully peck puppies paws
Quick quirky quails quarrel quietly
Robert's rascally rabbits racing raccoons
Slinky slimy snakes slither slowly
Tony the Tiger tasted termites.
Unusual Ukari understands us
Voracious vicarious vultures visibly vibrate
Walruses wobble while wiggling wildly
x-ray tetras want worms
Young yellow yackety Yaks yawn
Zealous Zany Zesty Zebra

The Jumping Wellies Are Singing La La La La La

The jumping jellies in wellies are singing like la la la

Space suited shells are quite adept at leaning through cubby holes and travelling for a long time. A long time is a lengthy length leaning. But not leaking for leaking is akin to leering and leering belong to lecherous old whales in suits sat on many benches in rows. Rows reaching raiding retching rumps. And rump steaks are mashed to a pulp by a size six hundred shoe having a hop down a stairway. Never mind the beeswax ear drums and kettle fish dance for ot is merely a movie shown here on a screen. A flat screen is often displayed on a suitcase isn't it? Wow how often the occurring jam configured jar invites the ham to a sandwich party. Quite often. But a table top clap is a riot of absolutism that abolishes apple pips. Eradication eating eggplants. Oooh mystic moo tune. Great. Dance then. Hahaha the sponges are riding the paperbacks. Hahah swan dip in the cup. Xxxxx colonisation z z z z at nineteen herrings hearing harpsichordists' to fourteen financially dynamic dynamited digital dogs. Premium MemberSundown In Paradise

My blessing basket is heavy with heaven's gifts,
Tomatoes the size of my fist, eggplants so cute,
And fresh heirloom beans bursting with pride.

The sun, orange on the horizon, frames a pair of
Snowy Egrets above, wings folded in glide descent,
Angling towards their roost.

A solitary Cricket, at home in the cabbage patch,
seesaws a hypnotic greeting, then hushes
As I pass.

A Monarch Butterfly wisps past my head, enjoying
Nectar from scattered flowers. The scent of herbs,
Blossoms and love settles softly in my heart.

I know life can be hard, but this moment, just
This moment, I'm filled with such Grace from
God I only stand in humble gratitude.

Nanny's Alley

Eating blatant misused things
I'm doing it all for Sally
Things that screw and all turn Blue
                    It's right up Nanny's alley .
               Screaming cars and eggplant wars
                  the crazies are upon me
use the glue that grandma grew
and use it very sparingly .
Grandma's on the patio, Nanny's upstairs
                 their searching for their sanity
                     their looking everywhere.
The eggplant race who came for war
                  who's roots were planted deep
Nanny knew what she had to do
and she did it very neat.
With sickle in hand , she made her stand
and the eggplants she did slew
she buried them deep without a peep
and she made her eggplant glue.
All the fields of eggplant glue
she had given it all to Sally
Things that screw and all turn blue
                     it's right up Nanny's alley !

Stasis

I left the eggplants on the vine this year.
Unpicked.
Forlorn.
They hang bloated on blackened stalks,
dusted gratefully with snow.

The garden’s water mill wheel stands still
Fixed.
Unmoving.
Arrested by Winter’s ice.

Parsley and mustard greens battle daily
for life.
peeking, bright green still;
from the sleet sheet covering their bed.

Stalwart sage vies for vertical dominance
remaining the only evergreen symbol of life
in the refuse of dirty white.

Spring can not come soon enough.
