Best Eggplants Poems
My blessing basket is heavy with heaven's gifts,
Tomatoes the size of my fist, eggplants so cute,
And fresh heirloom beans bursting with pride.
The sun, orange on the horizon, frames a pair of
Snowy Egrets above, wings folded in glide descent,
Angling towards their roost.
A solitary Cricket, at home in the cabbage patch,
seesaws a hypnotic greeting, then hushes
As I pass.
A Monarch Butterfly wisps past my head, enjoying
Nectar from scattered flowers. The scent of herbs,
Blossoms and love settles softly in my heart.
I know life can be hard, but this moment, just
This moment, I'm filled with such Grace from
God I only stand in humble gratitude.

Blank verse
An alligator always ate addax and antelopes.
Baby bats began bouncing before burping
Caterpillars climb cable crossings carefully
Dingos don't dine delicately during dinner.
Eager elephants enjoy easily eating eggplants
Funny frogs finally find flipping fun
Granny goat 's girl got green grapes
Healthy heavy happy hippos hate horrendous heat
Iguana is inhaling icky insects
Jolly Joey Jumps joyfully juggling jelly jars.
Kevin's kangaroo keeps kicking kids
Lions like long-legged little llamas
monkeys making magical music
Nightingales nest neatly nearby
Olly's old Ostrich outruns others
Polly parrot playfully peck puppies paws
Quick quirky quails quarrel quietly
Robert's rascally rabbits racing raccoons
Slinky slimy snakes slither slowly
Tony the Tiger tasted termites.
Unusual Ukari understands us
Voracious vicarious vultures visibly vibrate
Walruses wobble while wiggling wildly
x-ray tetras want worms
Young yellow yackety Yaks yawn
Zealous Zany Zesty Zebra

speak it as it was to be
something for a world of
people to love and admire.
delicious and special.
she wanted something that was flavored naturally.
we determined that a sweet fruity flavor would
be best. because she was cooking chicken
and felt it was best to have as much chicken as vegetables
she decided to make it easier on herself by using
something large to marinate the birds in.
she was cooking twenty game hens, and wanted a mixture of flavor
to marinate the birds in.
she came up with this.
in a large roasting pan she added,
5 pounds of grapes (vines and leaves)
2 trouts (scaled and cleaned)
4 garlic bulbs (halved and unpeeled)
5 medium onions(quartered with peels)
10 lemons(squeeze the juice and and halved)
5 sprigs of rosemary
4 sprigs of thyme
2 gingerootz (chopped)
5 small chilis (halved)
1 cup of cilantro
roast for about one hour( to extract the pungent aromas)
you only want the juices that are extracted from the mixture
drain by using a colander, and a fine screen.
allow to cool.
in a blender add
2 cups of olive oil
1/4 cup of salt
2 green peppers
1 large red onion
2 small chilis (seeds removed)
2 cup of red wine
3 cups of lime juice
1 cup of light brown sugar
4 tablespoons of ground ginger
1/2 cup of white vinegar
7 cloves of garlic
mix smooth and add to the cool mixture
2 two five gallon buckets with lids
add the game hens and pour mixture to cover all the birds.
marinate overnight.
broil birds in the oven until done.

1 and one half cups of lemon juice
1 cup of coconut milk
1 cup of grapefruit juice
4 tablespoons of cayenne pepper
1/2 cup of honey
8 tablespoons of crushed garlic
1 cup of minced shallots
1 cup of coconut flakes
1/4 cup of light brown sugar
6 tablespoons of rum
4 tablespoons of grounded cumin
1 and 1/4 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of mint leaves
3 pounds of deveined shrimp
marinade.
in a large roasting pan, add 1 cup of butter
and a half cup of olive oil

The jumping jellies in wellies are singing like la la la

Oooh now then. Oh just wow. A scarlet salivating sentinel sentiment is wafting air at that door. Blowing. Blowing is not bubbling so do not count powder puffs or smoke globules that radiate sideways. It is wise to brush the hair of radishes if kept as pets as jess the juniper plant will inform crystal curtains if the duty of brush is not attended to. And the duty of brush is a popular sight for passing breezes in microscopic skirts. Pitter patter titter tattle then. Tittering teasing tenacious tingles. Trapping. Tripping. Taking. Then up and away with all the finer scented procrustean produce. In a giant orbital cloud. Decorated in proud prints and self determined make up that costs way over the price of a single bag of flour to dust the cheeks. It is more often that a mock moronic macro macaroni makes an energy beam to an enemy of eggplants. But eggplants can be radically and powerfully transforms and transported into the wide dance halls of many a lunar ocean ballroom. Dance carefully carrying the sand, the ships, and the oven gloves. We wouldn't want spillage would we? So very wasteful. Wasteful waist coated wasters wantonly willing war. And a five centimetre slug jet skiing on the wild tepid waters at ease with all possibilities of a handwritten swirly note with a flowery kiss. Playful and play. Playing and placing. And the sharp wide angle from a spotted viewfinder is never quite enough to seal a deal with a seal, a serpent and a pillar of margarine. Quanta quintet. And a portal of pigs parading in a seventy seven acre of orchard pie. Monkeys dangling from trees throwing dirt at ignorance. And the jester fish trots by on the shire horse on a blue sunny afternoon. Age after age after age after age after age. Clever created canopies cuddle cute clams. Clap then. One two three four clap clap clap. And give a loud cheer like hurrrraaahhhhhhh. Then lie down then stand up. Quickly. Central controlled colonies collect. Drag no tin of ham or peas to the airports. SALAD SALUTE
Listen up everyone, and I mean you peas at the back:
Think you can hide in the mayonnaise?
Some of you peppers feel you are pretty hot stuff, I know;
And our cucumber friends are just way too cool dudes;
And some guys feel they are just beginners - you green onions,
All shifting places to avoid being next to the garlic.
But remember this - we stick together in this mayo,
And we’re like the Rangers - we go in first, and no one is left behind;
Not like the soup or main course,
Oozing into those warmed and ready bellies.
We hit the plates cold -
Even before the metal meets the meat.
The first forks of these people are aimed directly at us -
And they’re hungry, so expect no quarter.
Look around you : in this mixed salad
We got French beans, and jumping beans from Mexico;
We got green peas, black peas, brown rice, and white swedes -
All Americans.
Now here in the US some of you guys may have
Experienced discrimination due to color, taste, smell, or size.
But for you and me now, all that is gone.
We are moving into the shadow of the salad bowl
Where you will watch the back
Of the veg next to you, as he will watch yours:
And you won’t care what color his skin is
Or by what name he calls eggplants/aubergines.
We’re facing a tough, determined, and hungry foe -
Lets stick together.

NOTE
Imagine a salad being addressed by its leading carrot just before the main serving occurs in a restaurant.
This light-hearted poem is obviously based on the words of a great speech by
Colonel Hal Moore, which can be heard in the movie WE WERE SOLDIERS,
and Mel Gibson does an excellent job of rendering the speech on youtube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7OPPWlKV2A I recommend you to watch this inspiring two-minute speech.

Apple tart tops apricot pie
Bitter gourd blends with bean curd fry
Carrot cake craves for chili sigh
Durian desserts yell doughnut cry.
Eggplants yield puddings shaped as chicks
Fruity gums glue potato sticks
Garlic lollipops waft shared licks
Hot tomatoes ignite toothpicks.
Ice cream, pepper flavor, alright
Jelly chocolates melt in light
Kindness candy brings heaven flight
Love-shaped cookies kiss lips with bite.
Merry marmalade smites bad pout
Nougat rewards weight lifter bout
Offered cheese ignores nosy doubt
Peanut butter makes nails so stout.
Quietude chips calm quirky strain
Restive popcorn reigns midst brain drain
Serenity soup soothes heart sprain
Tranquility sweets fight sleep pain.
Unity bread divides for all
Victory drinks kick fools to fall
Winsome pastries shout sugar call
Xanthic dips keep bouncing as ball.
Yummy delights appetite zest
Zooming toward dieter’s crest
Yearning for good night rest...
Zipper my mouth to thank* God, blest.
*1Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Eating blatant misused things
I'm doing it all for Sally
Things that screw and all turn Blue
It's right up Nanny's alley .
Screaming cars and eggplant wars
the crazies are upon me
use the glue that grandma grew
and use it very sparingly .
Grandma's on the patio, Nanny's upstairs
their searching for their sanity
their looking everywhere.
The eggplant race who came for war
who's roots were planted deep
Nanny knew what she had to do
and she did it very neat.
With sickle in hand , she made her stand
and the eggplants she did slew
she buried them deep without a peep
and she made her eggplant glue.
All the fields of eggplant glue
she had given it all to Sally
Things that screw and all turn blue
it's right up Nanny's alley !

Stasis
I left the eggplants on the vine this year.
Unpicked.
Forlorn.
They hang bloated on blackened stalks,
dusted gratefully with snow.
The garden’s water mill wheel stands still
Fixed.
Unmoving.
Arrested by Winter’s ice.
Parsley and mustard greens battle daily
for life.
peeking, bright green still;
from the sleet sheet covering their bed.
Stalwart sage vies for vertical dominance
remaining the only evergreen symbol of life
in the refuse of dirty white.
Spring can not come soon enough.

Free verse
A shirtfront full of tiny red tomatoes
That took the time it takes to eat a half dozen
Bursting on my teeth to drown my thirst
Stepping on both sides of a row of beets
Carefully avoiding the sharper leaves of eggplants
Flip flops crushing fallen fruit to reach the redder ripe
It took a walk past five humming bird feeders,
Five sun flower trees full of half plucked blossoms
Chirp, she loves me. Cheep, she loves me not.
A leaning row of escaping egyptian onions
Clusters catching on loose clothing
On stalks of sun seeking green
Summer has exploded around us once again
The kitchen is adorned with Nature's gifts
As am I with two legs full of poison ivy
Taunting me to scratch and spread it

Avid anteaters ate artichokes
Blossoming beyond barley’s beauty,
Classic chews can clearly
Deny delivering dangerous dangling dates
Evening eggplants enormous evolved ecstatic
Ferocious fig fritters furthering Frito’s finesse.
Galloping gingerbread giants gobbling goats gelatin,
Hurrying heavily handsome hindquarters
Imagining illustriously ignorant
Jealous juried jams
Killing king’s kiwi kingdoms.
Lazy llamas laughed lightly
Making monster muffins melt
Near Neville Nettle’s nearest nutty nerves.
Opulent Ostrich ostracizes olive oils,
Putting putrid previewing pastries past
Quality quizzing quails'
Ridiculously rancid roasts
Seriously swimming sideways since strawberries
Traveled toward tender turkey talk,
Undermining understudy’s uninteresting
Very vivacious vixen’s vigorously vain vixens
Who will work wonders when
‘xtra ‘xtravagant ‘xtrapolations
Yell, yowl, yippee yelping
Zeroing zealous zealots’ zesty zeal.
