Tactical Foot

There once was a young tiger named Roar
this bold greeting he gave to Eeyore...
     "Hey you, shove out the way;
I got no taste for gray."
With one swift kick, donkey mopped the floor.

Premium MemberPouting Downer Frowner

We all know at least one from down by the bay
A downer-frowner who likes to pout all day
We call ours Eeyore, after the depressed donkey
Winnie Pooh, Christopher Robin and Tigger’s friend, is he.

He pouts because it is rainy weather
He is annoyed by the brilliance of the sun
He is holding a grudge forever
Against more than twenty-one

In 1969 she borrowed my pencil and never gave it back.
The annoying banter of this guy has my neck hairs off the track.
I want to say “Do not pout about stuff that happened in ’84.”
That is the day his wife and her lover sneaked out his grouchy door.

Premium MemberMy Soul Remembered

so much darkness and gloom followed the tornado around Omaha
Some were dour and sour about it; I was numb, it had been a disaster
I have to get out of here, I told my husband. He understood.
Make relatives make Eeyore in Winnie The Pooh Books look upbeat.

As I wandered off, I discovered a sliver of blue in the horizon.
It was upright, and had a glimmer of verdent green at the bottom.
When I got closer I discovered a doorway into Happy Meadow Land.
I had not been there since I was five-years-old, but I remembered her!

I squeezed through the gate and began tumbling in summersaults.
Play! a soft voice said. Laugh, sing, love your life, look for the good.
I stayed there for a couple of days, refreshing and uplifting myself.
When I returned I figured everyone would be angry with me.

My husband gave me a wide smile. “Where did you go?” He asked.
I told him about Happy Meadow Land.
My cousins overheard me and said it was not a real place.
My soul knew better.

Premium MemberNo Ordinary Tuesday

Tigger was excited about the story.
He asked if he could bring Mickey.
The Cheshire cat showed up too.
Maizie, the storyteller was enthralled.
Few readers get to have three celebrities in a room.
She read with as much excitement as she could.

Can Eeyore come next time? Tigger asked.
And Minnnie? Mickey asked.
And Alice? Asked the Cheshire cat.
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb showed up at that second.
The Mad Hatter said you were reading a book, one of them said.
Maizie was thrilled. She thought this would be an ordinary Tuesday.

Premium MemberLets Make the Troll Our New Mascot

Let’s make him the new mascot someone suggested.
He looks dour, down in the dumps, forlorn, some of us protested.
But he fits in with our theme, one of the Eeyore-types said.
He always loves to make trouble; his name is Depressed Ned.

I refuse to vote for the troll, I say, in a mean kind of way.
Several others agree with me, others have absolutely no say.
The dour depressed troll ends up being mascot for the new team.
I decided to drop out of the booster club, even though it was mean.

Premium MemberKim Rodrigues

Kim’s words are extraordinary, jazzy and fun.
Imagination conjures up grim reaper and crazy lady.
Makes up words like flutterfluffing. What?

Relies on her grandsons to inspire her missives which are fabulous.
Outstanding does not half-way describe her magical ink.
Deviously eclectic, she writes a beautiful variety of poems.
Relaxation of Faerie Forest, she penned for me!
In the fewest words Kim says more than most of us could ever say.
Guessing her next move is thankfully impossible.
Unequivocally thrilling it is to travel to her page for a few hours.
Enthusiastically elevated Eeyore of Eglantine. Yes. Her kind of words.
Sassily slips in scintillating sunlight into her song-like romantic poetry.

Death By Daoism

Eeyore the Dr. Ignorant,
Winnie the Pooh, ambulant,
On a walk in the woods,
Are they up to no good?
Winnie does say,
In his happiest way,
"Buzz, buzz, buzz,
I wonder where the birdies was?
Whoops, in my eye, birdie's blip!
I guess that's what you call a gift!"

Christopher Robin

At a children’s book exhibit
With amazing things on view,
I was struck to find a case
Which had the one and only Pooh.

In the same display was Eeyore,
Roo and Kanga, even Tigger;
All were gifts to son from father
Every year as he got bigger.

Now the son, Christopher Robin,
Was the hero of the books
So his character was given
All his foibles, traits and looks.

Though it looked quite sweet and tender,
I once heard a different tale –
That the son despised his father
Once those books were put on sale.

So it’s wise to then consider
What our kids will really think
If we choose to share their stories –
They may someday need a shrink.

But it could have been avoided
Had the hero been called “Joe;”
Then Chris Robin could have basked in glory,
Incognito, though.

Premium MemberFairy Tales, Angels and Cuddles

What would we do without Cuddles
They help us to get out of muddles
When we're feelin' down, they replace a frown
And they fill us so full of Love Bubbles

Beethoven, Sparkles and Lulu
Far greater than anything Tragic
Eeyore, T-T-Tigger and Pooh
In Dreams that are filled full of Magic

Angels are made for believin'
Even if we've never seen them
They mind us at night, when we shut our eyes tight
And they help the Dream Fairies to Weave them

Premium MemberBloody Ridiculous

Into each life some rain must fall
But this is bloody ridiculous
Folks on the corner are building an ark
Their workmanship is quite fastidious

They seem to know something is up
Like a scary upcoming event
Hasn't stopped raining for about a month
Sometimes gets really intense

Not used to this miserable rainy weather
Where the heck did winter go?
These dismal skies can be so depressing
What we need is piles of snow

Whoa is me, I'm sounding like Eeyore
I repeat, this is bloody ridiculous
I used to be such a happy old soul
The gods have become unscrupulous

Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse Contest

Winnie the pooh is an icon
A mascot for a Canadian brigade
Named after the a lieutenants home
With the name of Winnipeg I heard

Mickey Mouse is an endearing fellow
To replace Oswald the lucky rabbit
Minnie his friend shyly says “Hello”
Poor Oswald is no more he’s had it

Wonder what would happen if
Mickey and Winnie were friends
Would Minnie get very jealous
Or would Tigger make amends

Whatever happens to this pair
A legend they have both become
Eeyore, Tigger and Winnie share
Minnie, Donald and Mickey’s home

In the Magic kingdom life is fun
Children gaze often in wonderment
At the rides and games to be won
Goodies to buy until money spent

So off home they go with their bags full
Of sweaters, bags, trainers and more
Most importantly a memory has been instilled
So dreams will be dreamt for evermore

Eeyore -A Clerihew

Eeyore the donkey gray
scowled"another bother's another day".
Couldn't keep his poor tail on for long.
You'd never hear him burst into some happy song!
