Holy Diver

Disoriented and departed from passing terra forma,
I sink further into the Sea of Tranquility.
As corroded chains of my existence dissipate,
What once tethered my soul to Gaia's gifts
Drifts aimlessly in the abyss of space,
Freezing as they pass me by.
Shards of ice sparkle like crystals upon their surface—
The only illumination against a bitter, lonely backdrop.

The Perennial Diver

Bubbled 
in a young man's breath,
I glided along the weedy
and rock strewn bottom
just out from shore,
a companion to fish 
and crustacean, a finned, 
neoprene clad denizen 
of the deep. 

The limit of my lungs made me
gorge on this underwater
world in the brief time
a held breath could last.
I packed so much
into mere minutes
to nourish a lifetime.

Poor Pitiful Danny Diver

     Danny Diver is no belly-flopper
     Only this time his dive came a-cropper 

        Danny started out fine
        But he’d drunk too much wine 

      He's motionless in

Which fish
The scuba diver
Is going after?
The big one
Or the small one?
Which sheriff
Is on trial today?
The petty one
Or the pretty one?
Everyone must have its day
In the Kangaroo Court.
Real justice is not a myth;
It never creates descent or grief.
It a fact that it is easier to execute
The innocent resident
Than to prosecute
The corrupt superintendent.

Courage

Ask an ocean cliff diver, eager and daring, 
How thrilling it is, the ascent and air diving,
The arms stretched wide, like wings fluttering, 
Plunging into the depths, like a whale's splash echoing, 
But without courage, mere fantasies we will be sharing

Ask a ground squirrel, scurrying through its maze, 
With nuts in its grasp, the squirrel

The Coral

Sometimes one has to retreat 
From the controversial world
To find an inner calm
To stay deep in the sea like a coral 
Smiling all the way
Dancing softy 
Listening to the soft flowing of the sea
Enjoying the calmness of the sea
Watching the wonderful muddling of schools of fish
A sudden emerge of a diver will bring 
An admiration

Vacancies have we for A Cleaner,
Whose Sense of Hygiene is keener,
A Customer-Friendly Waiter,
Not wishing to be tipped later,
A Vibrant Security man,
Who would all entrances  man,
A No-Nonsense Bartender
But can be a lot tender,
A Damned Experienced Driver

A scuba diver rents a boat
The driver of the boat goes
into the deep water
There he prepares himself
To be ready for the big dive
Then jumps into the deep water



Seeing some fish fish-he swims
Being side by side enjoys

When the divers tires

The Scuba Diver 

we look down
signal frantically
‘come up’,
though it is already 
too late

he dances wide eyed
with ecstasy
as the nitrogen 
tickles his cells

anemones
cling to the steep
rock walls
fish feed and dawdle
incuriously

we peer through
our tiny windows
into the ink black sea

as he goes 
free wheeling 
down, 
down,
a rictus of laughter 
on his face

God's Plan For Diver Dan

Being environmentalist scuba diver's
we ferried our boat out east of the Farallon Islands,
in the waters by the Golden Gate Bridge we ended up scuba diving,
awestruck by the great humpback whale entangled in the quagmire,

Noticing she was bogged down by 100s of lbs of crab traps,
entangled with line rope round her whole body way up to
