Across the murdered meals,
cigarettes stabbed here and there
into sorbet,
bits of chocolate flake cake,
he will start to relate their story,
but she will-
t-t-t-
and tell it over the uncleared plates,
coffee spills,
to others shiny eyes
and the eager nods of her friends-
Until he didn’t know her
or how they had begun.

There’s always one drunk at the dinner party; an embarrassing shame
Ne’er to be invited back again
It doesn’t complement the tortured duck foie gras crackers
And the sinfully boring conversations lamenting benefit scrounging slackers
Everyone else is clunkily overdressed, not to mention, anxious and stressed
Even the halibut’s looking depressed.
The darling children all love to whinge
The chubby husbands are all thinner on Hinge
I drain the whisky bottle, and the host hands me some tea
It’s happened again; I guess the drunk must be me.

Greed Has a Dinner Party
Evil seething greed sits down to dinner with his guests.
He serves them humungous helpings of hubris for an appetizer to set the mood of the evening.
For the main course, he mesmerizes them with tales of his ambition and success and piles them on his own plate, yet he serves the guests-somewhat less.
He explains they must be more like him to get even more. He assures them that they have the makings to be just like him.
Dessert is of course licentiously sweet self-serving compliments for all and the promise that if they took everything they wanted in life, without concern for anyone but themselves, they would be most efficacious.
After dinner, he says goodbye. Then he grins as they pass by the urn containing Icarus’s ashes on their way out the door.

A cannon waiting to explode hold my heart within chambered walls
I stood right beside the feast but couldnt bear to sit
I wined and I dined but I stand
Holding my mischief in my right hand puffing and dragging in the other one
I smell its swirl robust and ripe ready off the vine
He is the reason why people like me drink
Sober is for the agoraphobics but in my adventures I do gather ouside
In the garden by the psychadelic frog ribbitting the tunes of Marley
Dressed like Jimmy, sat down on the lily-pad guitar
Strummed slowly and for in my hurt one moment I began to sing and laugh
Dry and chuckled I'm always the last one to choke
Hang on a word too many while I drink the swirl sip my curiosity
Unleash uncage inhabit my new prey while I fake pretend pray no incarceration

Tonight we went to a party.
The food was certainly hardy.
We were just a bit tardy.
Hardly a problem for family.
We laughed holding hands familiar.
Presents and play - was quite a day.
To descibe in words, it's hard to say.
Hugs and kisses, a piggy back ride.
I swelled at my family with pride.
The rest are many stores in picture books.
Through albums, we carefully had looks.
Some brought me back to sweet memories
They've grown like the mighty oak trees.
Dinner on pretty china dishes.
Candles blown out to make wishes.

Then to finish, sorbet
and a cafe au lay
for I'll finish you
with select taste...
You'll be licking your plate
Impatient to wait
with no leftovers on table to waste...
so this invite I give you
my chef - shala Blue
for I'd trust you
with fork and with knife,
You can grill me forever
As tough as shoe leather
and still I would give you my life
to eat of my body
at yr soul dinner party
just ask and I will comply,
ring once and I'll be there
polishing the silverware
would you like breast, wing, or thigh??
and since there's no ending
to this meal that I'm sending
to you, with sincer - ity
Kinshala, please savor
each bite, and each flavor
for It's within You
I long to be...
