didnt stop the ocean

I strolled through swamps and muck
I climbed the mountains in the air
I untangled from stuck
revevrted to the now and here

I so wanted to hope
and to learn how to cope
To exit the trap, mope

I strolled through emotion
and bled through devotion
but didnt stop the ocean

Premium Member I wish we didnt have gravity

I wish we didn’t have gravity
It would be fun to fly around untethered and uninhibited

the teachers would have a heyday
yelling and screaming their faces off as we zoomed around the room

our parents would be frantic, begging our grandparents for advice
grandpa would be too busy laughing to care

I wish we didn’t have gravity but maybe nets on trees
if we wanted, we could grab one and sit with cats

She got to live, he didnt

She got to wake up the next day
He didn't.
She got to live her life
He didn't.
She got to have her own family
He didn't

She lied
He didn't.

She admitted to the lie -
No repercussions
He was a black boy -
He got murdered

Carolyn Bryant,
A murderer
Emmett Till,
A victim

The courts awarded her due diligence
His family fled in fear, that it'd be repeated
Leaving their home, scared they'd be targeted
Their home a ghost to a child evicted
A system built to allow racism

I didnt use to

Ever since I was little you've been trying to fix me.. forcing the puzzle pieces to fit, only to break me more n more.

Building me up, just to tear me down over n over again... I didn't use to be insecure until you repeatedly told me I was over weight at age 13, and still do to this day.
I didn't use to hate myself until you screamed at me every day even over Dad's hospital bed..
I didn't use to use to have depression until you told me multiple times a day how it's my fault the family is broken..
I didn't use to have anxiety until you told me my depression was just in my head...
"Happiness is a choice" was your favorite.

Things I should've learned in math class but didnt

There's a hole in the fabric of my universe
Sometimes I slip inside and zip it up
Time loses meaning here
no future, no past
The present in this space is only an imaginary playground between the two
Life isn't linear
Moments of laughter, moments of pain float around me in their bubbles
Feelings are relics stacked on shelves where I can seperate them from myself
I have thoughts about the dust but this is my space, and my collection
Away from the world and its deadlines
Alone with my musings
And you
Always you

I didnt deserve That

I didn't deserve what you did to me,

what could I have done, to make you act the way you did,

I stayed. I should have run,

I didn't deserve the things you said, you know your words , they sting.

To hear no one will love you , while you were my everything.

All the years I gave you, Not once did I Fall. I did and gave you everything, my sweat my tears my all,

Then one day I realized that all I got to do , was give myself all the love I was giving to you,

Then and only then I found out what love ment to me

You can't love someone who doesn't love themselves it's true and now I see!

Going Away Didnt Mean Forgetting

Going away didn’t mean forgetting
By Lady Arabella
Going away didn’t mean forgetting or that i would miss you less
Instead it was a way of putting your words to the test
And yet when it occurred you failed to maintain the things you said
To think once you consumed the thoughts inside my head
Going away didn’t mean forgetting it just meant I knew I deserved more
And I didn’t know how that would turn out and wasn’t fully sure
But going away allowed me to see things in a new light
Allowed me to stop, step back and no longer put up a fight
Going away didn’t mean I forgot , it just meant I had time to see things more clear
Away from the hurt , second guessing and fear
But going away didn’t mean forgetting
It just meant new paths opened and it’s now not just all give and never getting
Going away didn’t mean forgetting
There’s no more time or room for regretting
So no , going away didn’t mean forgetting
But I was never one for just bare minimum and settling

You Didnt Love Me

You didn’t love me
Loved the idea of me
I finally left.

Premium Member Why Didnt You Use Cardinals

Why didn’t you use cardinals? Asked the one who is never pleased.
Her harsh words used to injure my feelings, take me to my knees.
Today I said, “bluebirds look so pretty with valentines, red.”
She did not make another comment, this non-artsy type, Ms. Fred.

Premium Member I Didnt Say Anything

Fourth-grader, Leander had his hands down his pants.
Sitting on the rug, doing what people do but usually, in their sleep.
His young teacher said, "“Leander, please put your hands in the air!”
He said “I have to itch my junk.”
I smiled when she told me this. “What did you say?”
“I didn’t say anything. I don’t have junk, so I kept quiet.”

I Didnt

I didn’t get the chance to really date her.
I didn’t get the chance to even know her.
Not really.
I got the piece of her that was left after that first heart break.
The part that said it, I’m good
Instead of who she was before she knew what love was
And what love isn’t.
I didn’t ...know...her.

I Didnt Want To

I didn't want to
I didn't want to
Do those things with you
But you persisted
Crushed my soul
Then enlisted
Now your off fighting a war
While I'm here feeling like a whore

What If I Didnt Meet You

My voice remains so low ,
Yet I try to reach you .

My head is all mixed with philosophies of the world in which
I mention you .

I cry out loud in the silence that I never longed for.

You saw me take that, which was not meant to be mine anymore .

Yet I think where I would be if you didnt spoil me.

But you changed me to know everything that would hurt me .

Yet I think what If I didnt meet you .

                                                         - ARZOO AKBAR

Why Didnt I

Why did I give in so easy
every time they came after me
and made me feel so powerless?

Every time they’d push, I would fall.
You’d think after the first time, I’d be strong.

Why didn’t I keep talking
even when I told somebody
and they weren’t listening?

Why didn’t I run away,
though beaten and weary,
and get myself to safety?

Maybe I’d still be innocent if I had,
but where was my strength every time?

Why didn’t I try harder?
Why didn’t I fight smarter?
Why didn’t I scream louder?

The what if’s are endless,
and in the end, they’d never change a thing.

So why didn’t I lose all hope?
Why didn’t I break and let go?
How is it I’m still here—a survivor?
