Body Art
David J Walker

It was beautiful beyond any measure
As the birthplace of unheard-of ideas
Mothers wept
Fathers slept
While the skin-toned canvas
Spread thin and then
thinner again
with age
Topographic changes across the brow
The eyes seized in torrents of time
The deliquesce of delicate hands
Unplanned corpulence
In the fading spadix of arums and palms

Light will take what time has left behind

                                        hottest Tabasco
                                     avocado, bassa fillet
                                     pungent vinaigrette
                                      mango salsa moist
                                            deliquesce
                                                melts!

Premium MemberPrayers of Yesterday

secret flowers hidden in my chest
ever day I wake up to do my best
the prayers of yesterday still linger
on my distracted, rolling fingers
a sacral image tattooed with Grace
etched upon my heart, Christs face
no denomination here, just love
properly suiting me like a glove;
Sanctity cannot be seen but can be felt,
a deliquesce thing that comforts, melts.

Premium MemberSeasons

There are seasons in the sorrows
Morrow's foretaste of rhythm
Seeding frost bitten sentiment
In breathless grace
Au courant of prescience break
Hastily deliquesce by ardor laze
Bequeathed in blooms
A blushing spring on thirsty banks
Until suns and moons
Give rite to sleet
The life that was
Once more shall sleep

Premium MemberSoften, Spring

The light chiffon veneers of winter's face

                    Slow-deliquesce as rangy shadows wane

Soft gossamer as whitened Guipure lace

Melts running to the rills ... with April's rain.

the light chiffon veneers of winter's face
          slow-deliquesce as rangy shadows wane
soft gossamer as whitened Guipure lace
melts running to the rills with April's rain

a dulcet strain of spring tide on the wing
each songbird chants a serenade to woo
the passions that a warmer air can bring
     and nature's resurrection thru-and-thru

a world of monochrome now comes alive
so blossoming with promise and with life
the world of bursting color now to thrive
all water, land and air with movement rife

now mystery and romance start their call
for spring is summer's harbinger ... of all.

Premium MemberPrismatic Gifts

Raindrops freeze in rainbow of opulence,
gracefully strung in finely-stranded rows.
Dressing branches in frosty ebullience,
crystal beauties, bijoux vibrancy glows.

Gracefully strung in finely-stranded rows,
lavishing tree limbs in prismatic gifts.
Crystal beauties, bijoux vibrancy glows,
careless light captured does heighten their risks...

Lavishing tree limbs in prismatic gifts,
generous brilliant facade they bequeath.
Careless light captured does heighten their risks,
soon they will deliquesce and fall beneath.

Generous brilliant facade they bequeath,
dressing branches in frosty ebullience,
soon they will deliquesce and fall beneath,
raindrops freeze in rainbow of opulence.

~ CALYPSO ~

Odyssey of the open ocean
Eclipsing the performance of Heaven's delight
A beautiful name whispered along the night
Calypso enhanced with enchanted lullabies
Sweet silver streams, dreamy epic diamond dreams
Serendipity falls in like mist, under the majestic marble moonlight
Calypso, you belong to--
--Sunsets of the secret sea.
Mysterious-- many precious places to go,
Calypso --free flowing, floating legend!
Ride the beastliness breeze above the sea
Whisper, Calypso come for me!
Beautiful Comforting, Calypso Carry me!

Reflections easily deliquesce into thin air
Sedating the open waters -Voyage- view
Visionary Vessel above liquid level,
as divine in spirits she sails.
CA-LYP-SOO-- Nymph Nature Name
Aquatic belief-----------------------
CALYPSO, the journey of all journey's
For all eternity----------------------

Toujours--Jamais--

(one of my very few macaronic poems. If you read even a little French, you will understand why I chose this form)

Your tongue embraces paradox, Monsieur,
in its perpetual romance,
and most condign, the dancing words
that fall upon my psyche, as
the lorelei I seek would not do well
beneath the moonlight--
wet and tender, laughing.
Her illumining is from within, and her
faint call may not be heard at all--for like
the drifting ship with all hands lost at sea--
or yet the Voyager that dies among the stars,
her presence is a question, not a creed--
as when a wave would deliquesce
upon an island somewhere,
leaving only echoes
susurrus within the winds
along the shore.

Might there be more, Monsieur?
C'est impossible; c'est vrai.
C'est la musique, decouler de mon coeur.
Toujours...jamais...
toujours

Paper Eyes

Transparent smiles and fragile paper eyes
adorn a tender beauty, as a tear
of dew upon a rose in cool sunrise.
A sweet yet clear disguise of yearnings near,
secreted 'neath so tenuous a veil
that slight of breeze would surely discompose
and tear and crinkle. Milky shades of pale,
diaphanous, untrue (as truth’s cast shows),
serve only as a means of self deny,
a flimsy shield against a whispered voice
that sighs a threat to air life as a lie
and deliquesce remaining threads of choice...

except the choice to live, as such a breeze
undresses faintly covered dreams with ease.

Facade

Dampen the nimble finger wrought by sentient numb
Five senses discerning feelings eventually to succumb
to chaos, blackness, soothing yet ravaged within
Whisper to the hand the deceives, don’t deny the sin

Illusory, ambiguous, settle upon the judge me not
Sail under false hope, entice the meek and unfortunate
Wing thyself from beguiled thoughts and guilty pleasures
Deliquesce into delirium and sense the battered measure

Empathetic disadvantage of devilish wit
Thy soul has drifted into the eternal abyss
Eloquent phrases bequeathed, befriending those close
Façade forged for protection in wrought iron and stone

Eclipse the spiritual sun, enter the center black mass
The latent inner self who desires not to envision the past
Seek and reap the martyrdom of intolerance
Chauffeur the soul through familiar fraudulence

Criminal content starving with motives of malice
Deliver yourself from evil, pray to glorious menace
The Rancid decay of carouse content emits a pulse
of foul stench within the mind finding no solace

Love's Currents

To my Valentine
My voracious dear
Whose zest is for wine
Yet mine guise is of beer
To my dulcet amore
You're the last in regard
To my soul's paramour
This endeavor is scarred
Same as Aeneas
I'll leave this sublime queen
And love instantaneous
Twill deliquesce 'tween
No curb to my ideal
Since love turned out unreal
