Grief lasts for a little while.
Its hurt does beguile.
Nightmare’s fog released, ‘where am I’
A torrential fracture of the sky.
Indeed the steps, you can’t deny,
as you’re not ready to say goodbye.
You still feel the hand you held
Now two minds of loved ones meld.
Denial is a named storm,
thunder and lightning forms.
The rain will not abate —
racehorse is out of the gate.
Anger crosswinds erupt.
Sirocco cursings abrupt.
The perpetrator served on a platter.
Onto anyone in the way it will splatter.
Bargaining, a gutteral plea for a sign.
Oft comes from grieved with a deadline,
sans stopping to smell the flowers,
though abounding with blessing’s showers.
Depression though butterflies flit about,
scents and does appear with shouts,
the grieved only wants to hold her or him —
the unending longing for a loved one is grim.
Acceptance, in mind-numbing closure,
can’t think too hard…maintains composure.
One can talk about him or her with smile
The truly hopeful believe in a meanwhile…
Heaven is truly the last step of grief.
It is the only appeasement that brings relief.

Ministry* is leading people to the Saviour
Guiding them with love’s fervor
For transformation toward godly behavior
Radiating heavenly light of divine favour.
Beware of sin that hinders ministry-fulfillment
Abandon pride with its fatal impairment
Vanquish idolatry by Scriptures’ engagement
Overcome idleness through diligent involvement.
Let truth anchor your ministry-standard
Disloyalty is sure to pull you downward
Dishonesty can catch your heart off-guard
Disobedience – that you ought to discard.
God wants you to enjoy ministry-blessings
Let not dimness of vision instill in your souls cursings
Due to unbiblical appraisings
Thus, persist… anchored by spiritual enforcings.

couples under warm blankets
converse about commercials
thumbs up and thumbs down
inside company pokes holes
into the crackling wood
of Southern hospitality
though none can claim
this as their birthplace
we cover North, West
and Palestine. Sings Gladys
with honor and respect
the National Anthem
hands over hearts, relishing
the antique still relevant
in lovely raiment —
at least to us oldtimers
beings of not the current
generational habits
halftime cursings
beeped out, entertainment
pleasant to those
forty some years
and below
blurrish words understood
like morse code to the youth
my mouth contentious
settle it down
with black forest dessert
where buffalo roam
in chocolate form
still assuaging our team
with handless cameras

Wondering why, life is that way.
Does my sin cause my sorrow, is it luck or destiny?
No one knows the cause, but to endure and live is our choice
and duty. Live life to overcome sin,
obstacles, pain and sorrow.
