Half Past Summer, Two Months Till Fall
Why is Sumner such a short time?
Just getting started,
then running into half past summer.
July seems to be the half way mark,
August is almost here.
August will turn into September then into October,
then fall will be here.
Fall with cooler days,
a pretty carpet of colorful leaves covering the ground.

AUTUMN BREEZE
AUTUMN BREEZE
I can feel the Autumn breeze
The leaves are changing in some of the trees
Beautiful yellow, orange and red
All along the sides of the avenue ahead
In summer sometimes it was hard to sleep
Now the nights are cooler and the sleep is deep
Autumn is my favourite time of year
The chirping birds are all I can hear
The

The Cooler
ice can be sculpted
into an ax, a ring; shatter;
soap, a thumb pop;
used to keep water
and soda pop
chill and give the kids a reason
for sitting still.
ice can slide over the neck,
legs, arms - deliciously melt;
can make a kid laugh,
under his shirt.
Send the kid to the cooler
when the sun is concentrated,
glaring at us as if dusk
won’t

Water Cooler Chatter
How many remember the typewriter
With it's clickety clack sound
For those that do you can never forget
That sound so familiar
To every office before computers
A sound so remenicent
So nostalgic to those who remember
Those long lost days from another era
Unless you lived through them
They are sounds gone by
Never to be heard again in todays
High tech world of instant

The Looney Toon August Moon
The Looney Toon August Moon
David J Walker
Blame it on the moon
The monthly insanities
The nightly vanities
The comings
The going
the longings
In lonely mornings
The Moon is to blame
For all of the insane
Things I can name and
It is as plain as day that
The night might
Or might not sway things
Another way
In the

Just An Old Cooler
Just an Old Cooler
Not much to look at,
Hard to carry,
Won’t through it away.
To you, it looks dirty,
To me, it looks used.
From the late 1960s
To you, it appears empty,
To me, it's full of memories.
I miss my dad so much,
The tears well up, flowing out.
Camping trips to Spruce Knob.
Just me and dad and
The squirrel that got the

Air Is Cooler Amid Kamikaze Leaves
Sun visits in sharp fractal shadows through the oaks
Lunate leaves glide effortlessly toward her mushrooms
Raining leaf flow is constant, scarlet and amber go next.
Xiphoid brown performs perfect kamikaze from Cottonwood
The air is cooler today, squirrels are chattering their delight.
Chasing through leaf piles. I begin to see their high up nests.
Contrast to tree bark which

Cooler
There is a fine line between visceral hatred and love. What side am I on?
Sweat runs into my eyes mixed with my tears and anger. Angry at myself or at it? Hard to say. I see only in a tint of gray. Regret fills my lungs like the muddy waters of the river in which

A Cooler Place
I looked for shade on that Summer's day
My body is made for a cooler May
By a river to wade I found the way
Lie or be laid where coolness may stay
High up the grade where zephyrs will play
Nigh on the blade where green grass forms hay
Shy of the trade where water turns grey
Sly but not afraid

Fishing Friday
Boat’s hooked up
Cooler’s packed
Got my hat
First beer’s cracked.
Crank bait on
Poles are ready
Off I go now
Slow and steady.
Troll around
The lily pads
Cast and reel
Almost had him.
Now off I go
It’s the end of the day
With stories to tell
How he got away.

Cooler Days
Now, come cooler days,
wind riding on morning haze
and the once cloudless clear skies
find billowy puffs in uncovered lies.
A sudden wind and rain storm
teases the earth to resurface, be reborn
but the chill lies low upon the ground
a autumn

Cooler Nights
Cooler nights
Autumn breeze,
brighter lights
soon will freeze...
One more day
One more night,
there is no way
I am taking flight...
Live for today
not for tomorrow...
For everyday
Joy and sorrow...
Life is short
Live to the fullest...
Praise the Lord,
for He is worthy...
Soon He will come
and take us home...
Prepare to meet your God
and worship Him alone...
