Half Past Summer, Two Months Till Fall

Why is Sumner such a short time?
Just getting started,
then running into half past summer.
July seems to be the half way mark,
August is almost here.
August will turn into September then into October,
then fall will be here.
Fall with cooler days,
a pretty carpet of colorful leaves covering the ground.

I remember the wonderful summers of childhood, school let out and the days till September seemed long, wonderful! Swimming, visiting my friend down the street, long vacations, so many wonderous memories. I was sad to see kids already back to school for the last week or two, cheated of summer vacation. I look forward to autumn days, our summer temperatures are always in the triple digits, but somehow, childhood summers even in the desert heat were so fun! Love your poem Paula :)

I love both summer and autumn. But sometimes, it is unbearably warm here. Then I long for a change of season. Autumn is indeed beautiful with cooler weather and a carpet of leaves under our feet. Enjoyed reading your poem. All the Best , dear Paula.
