honey and lemon
in tea, and one goodbye sneeze,
perfect concoction
A swathed October,
With freckled bundle of leaves
In a child's fingers—
How warmth is supposed to be,
The ground for a bassinet.
they say it’s just a common cold
it comes across so brash and bold
an apple a day
it is what they say
only healthy people were polled
Common cold
When I was a seafarer No one got the cold or the flu
on long voyages, it was only when the ship birthed
and official people came onboard we all went down
with cold/flu.
When this current pandemic pans out, we who have
been sitting in for weeks will be susceptible to other
illnesses that come along
our immune system has been weakened and we will
catch anything so hard we may die from a public cold.
Eskimos died by the hundred when the white man
came to safe them for Christianity.
THE COMMON COLD
Have you ever felt like you were going to die?
And you knew good and well the reason why;
and as you got sicker and sicker;
and the heavy gloom grew thicker and thicker,
it began to seem like the very end,
so I decided to call my very best friend.
And when I called him I told him
"I think that I will never see
anything again as lovely as a tree;"
and he sighed because
he himself was feeling a little sad;
and he said "Cheer up, friend,
it can't be that bad!"
And I told him for sure, for sure it was.
But I got no sympathy
as an injured person does;
and I started to feel bent out of shape
and even mad. E-gad!
And I began to think that that friend of mine
was a bit of a cad.
And then suddenly my temperature broke;
and I cracked another one
of my world famous jokes;
and my friend laughed and snickered and told me
he thought it was one of my finest;
and I said no it wasn't
and thanked him for his kindness;
and then when I hung up my phone,
I smiled, sat down and knew that I would live forever,
because a dying person never has enough energy
to be that clever.

the common cold
has got me down
i cough
i gag
i try to breath
i gasp in agony
trying to sleep
awake i stay
off to work
tired i am
The phenomenon known as a sneeze
Hits with major velocity. Jeez!
What a mess might ensue
If you heard an “A-choo!”
From the guy on the flying trapeze.

Got a cough.
A weeze or too.
When I cough I spew.
Like as if my intestings .
Coming up too.
The Doc, bronchitis say.
Twenty smokes a day.
I must pay with a runny nose.
Temperature, I suppose.
Hot and cold.
My blood boils.
My feet like ice.
Not very nice.
The common cold.

Love...
Is a cold,
Infecting my body,
So commonly caught,
But no cure for stupidity,
Sneezing of ignorance,
Idiocy in coughing,
Blind in the beginning,
But...
Slowly it crept upon me,
Until I,
Fully depended on the care of another,
Sniffles of distraught,
As my friends act as tylenol,
Temporarily subdueing the inevitable,
But...
Eventually the cold fades,
As i sneeze out the remains,
And toss them down the drain,
Memories of colds are nonexistant almost,
Because of how common they are,
Probably too common,
Love...
