Swiss Maids Uniiform
west cotton that rots
but new she's a doll!
said Bisser Daned to have
the calf in the spring
but his wife wished it for
Christmas thyme and
all the joy it would bring.
Thought the cold winters
harshness
werst the chances
of success.
The newly built insulated
barn
was ready for the test.
He shall feed these cattle
the feed should last
until spring.
The joys of a new calf
and all the milk the calf
will bring.
Eggnog for Christmas
a rummy cultured drink.
Caroling and cigar
smoking.
While nature does
it's thing!
How is this free verse poem.
Perfumef handkerchifs
Hiding thete smells
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Urchins and vagabonds
Scavaging for food
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
The starving scrambling
Food from the bins
SEND THEM TO THE WORKHOUSE THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Pickpockets stealing
Stealing my bread
SEND THEM TO THE GALLOWS THEY ARE SPOILING MY MEAL
Christmas is coming
Give them some gruel
THE WORKHOUSE IS WAITING THE GALLOWS CAN WAIT
The sweep boy is crying
The chimney neefs sweeping
WHIP HIM AND BEAT HIM THE CHIMNEY NEEDS SWEEPING
Chestnuts roasting
Carol singers caroling
MERRY CHRISTMAS URCHINS AND ALL
The night before Christmas the moon glowed bright
Children were caroling all through the night
The elves were still working; making some toys
For Santa to bring, to good girls and boys
The clouds drifted slowly, so way up high
Dropping their snowflakes- that whitened the sky
The world seemed quite quiet, silence in air
Then, the wind whispered soft into my ear...
Tomorrow is Christmas- ready or not
Remind the people, what some have forgot
Christmas is when Jesus was born this day
It's not just 'bout Santa- riding his sleigh
And tell them the best gift to give is- "love"
A whispered note, from the man up above
No manger scene at city hall
or caroling at school,
no city workers stringing lights,
come on, you know the rule.
No pageants of the savior’s birth,
we wish not to offend.
No prayers of thanks made publicly,
these laws we mustn’t bend.
No decorated Christmas tree
with ornaments all shiny
to be displayed on public land
or the ACLU gets whiny.
But Merry Christmas anyway
with joy to last the season,
just be careful what you say
and now you know the reason.
It isn't looking to me at all like Christmas,
There's been no ice, nor sleet, nor snow.
I've heard no jingle bells in the air,
Or caroling on the square,
Or seen anyone anywhere
All bundled up like an Eskimo.
And I'm thinking no tree for me this Christmas,
My apartment's rather small.
Can't seem to get in the mood to buy
A fruitcake or even mince pie,
Or wade through crowds so I
Can shop for presents at the mall.
It's most likely to be just me for Christmas,
What with Omicron lurking 'round.
I'll miss my family on Christmas Day,
But now it's safer to stay away.
Besides, I don't like to fly and can't pay
To fix my car that's broken down.
But, hey, this isn't like me at all at Christmas,
So bid the Grinch and Scrooge be gone.
A pine-scented candle can be my tree,
I'll watch "The Nutcracker" on DVD,
And if there's nobody else here but me,
It still will be Christmas in my heart.
Christmastime
Green evergreen trees - candles aglow
Family and friends - wreaths with red bows
Cookies and caroling - sugarplum dreaming
A babe in a manger - a star brightly beaming

Paris at Christmas
city of lights for a week
streets decorated
Eiffel Tower lit
like a Christmas tree aglow
tourists staring up
shoppers bustling crowds
bells ring; children caroling
joy is everywhere
rosy-cheeked Santas
wrapping presents with ribbon
in department stores
light sprinkle of snow
sleigh ride through the Tuileries
wrapped tight in blankets

You may get a happy glow if snow appears.
You send cards to folks you know, like you've done for years.
You feel warm inside when church bells ring,
And you sing along when kids come caroling.
You may exchange some little gifts on Christmas Day,
And remember those you love who've gone away.
That's enough for some to be the meaning of Christmas,
But as far as I'm concerned, and I'll try to make it clear,
It's not cards you send or gifts you bring,
Or any other special thing you do just once a year,
It's when you resolve to start keeping Christmas in your heart
That makes the things you always do
Seem like Christmas the whole year through.
It was the night before Christmas, and I couldn't sleep,
I got out of bed without so much as a peep.
And headed to the kitchen for something to eat,
buck naked, except for the slippers on my feet.
I didn't dare turn on the nightlight and wake my wife,
for the last time I did that, she threatened my life.
The house was dead quiet; I could not hear a sound
as I ventured downstairs, feeling my way around.
I got to the living room, stumbling a few times,
then I heard music that sounded like Christmas chimes.
So, I went to the window and pulled back the drapes,
thinking the neighbors were playing some Christmas tapes.
I forgot I was as naked as a jaybird;
till I heard the loudest scream I had ever heard.
The church quire was midnight-caroling on my lawn,
and in plain view, I stood bare-assed, not a stitch on.
Judging by the faces I saw scrambling to leave,
I don't think they'll ever forget this Christmas Eve.
It was never my intent to flash anyone,
I simply wanted a ham and cheese on a bun.
Snowflakes falling to land
of the caroling,
whiten the coats of man,
as they're traveling,
from door to door singing how Christmastime began
Christmas in Newyork
Fresh pigeon peas, jug Gug, a leg of pork
Turkey well marinated, freshly bake coconut bread
Line up to be place in the old brick oven,
Hammering above the windows as the rods goes up
Freshly varnish floor, glistening under the old oil lamp
Here I am once again alone on Christmas eve,
Drinking eggnog and soaking a Virginia ham in the sink
No caroling singing, in the background
Only my chosen pick on You tube,
My girl Toni Braxton, singing another sad love song,
My heart saddens, as I relived those memories,
Cold up North, a chill felt apartment
I long to be home, as little Annie again,
I got up and head to the kitchen sink
To seasoning my duck meat.
Before I get drunk and fall flat on my face.
I will always be a Caribbean girl.
Remember Christmas shopping?
I mean in stores full of shoppers
- there was music in the air and
some shops had free hot-chocolate
while others offered hot cinnamon
apple-cider and ginger-reindeer cookies
Parents would have to wait outside stores
because the whole expedition was surreptitious
- you shielded your gift bags from prying eyes.
Siblings would offer to help you carry your loot
- as if any respectable kid would fall for THAT.
School choirs competed for applause, caroling in food courts.
A line of excited children would spark my older brother,
Brice, to smirk and tease, “Are you sitting on Santa’s lap this year?”
There was a dazzling neon candy-cane roller-coaster
on the roof of Macy’s called “the pink pig” that we’d
squeeze into - even though it was made for little kids.
I was always in charge of checking the calendar so we’d remember
when my sister would be flying home for college break.
Have a careful Christmas - holly jolly as it can be.
Make memories that will last forever - like favorite songs.
